Jimmy's - Minnetonka Ratings and Reviews
Nice experience but would rate the food as mediocre on this trip. Visited on a Saturday night at the end of one of their gift card promotions. Although we were not partaking in the promotion, they were very busy, the kitchen must have been overwhelmed. My wife’s walleye was over cooked to the point it was charcoal on the bottom side, others at two tables around us were also unhappy with their steaks. I had the prime rib, it was excellent. Very nice place, I would suggest going when they are not having a promotion. We’ve been there on other occasions and food was much better.
Normally, my wife and I enjoy coming to Jimmys for a nice dinner in a comfortable setting however our last visit was disappointing.
We had a group of six and upon arrival our waiter, Scott, took our drink order then disappeared. After a long wait, someone from the bar brought the tray of drinks to the table and told us they had been sitting at the bar for a while.
When it was time for the food one person in our group specifically asked for no onions on his steak filet sandwich. The food seemed to also take an exceptionally long time to come (note we had a 5:30 dinner reservation on a Saturday night). When the food did arrive sure enough the sandwich was loaded with onions. We sent it back to the kitchen and the rest of the group was nearly done eating by the time the replacement sandwich came. The replacement ended up to be blood red rare and still had onion on it.
The disappointing part was the waiter offered very little in apologies and no compensation whatsoever for the poor service.
Jimmy's was an excellent choice for our business meeting this afternoon. The hostess accommodated at last minute addition to our table professionally and politely! Our server noticed that a table of 20+ was just about to place an order and was able to enter our order quickly to ensure that we were not waiting for our food. Excellent service that went above and beyond.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Jimmy's. Our server was friendlyand knowlegeable regarding the food and wine menus. The Barney Rubble Ribeye and augratin potatoes were exceptionally delicious! The restaurant owner stopped by our table, listened to our comments, and was very gracious! We'll stop by again, for sure!
Took my granddaughter for a get together lunch; good lunch menu items to choose from. We had an outstanding waitress, Michele. She was friendly, full of smiles, very attentive but not overly so. The atmosphere was more special than your usual lunch spot.
The food was good and mediocre; the tomato basil soup was just okay and the small salad served with a half sandwich was all lettuce with nothing else added. The half sandwiches we ordered were good; good options to choose from.
We enjoyed a fair priced glass of wine and tried their "small bite" desserts, which were enough to satisfy.
All in all a enjoyable lunch.
The food was horrible! Service was good but the eggs Benedict was soggy and had clearly been under a heat lamp for several minutes as the hollandaise was cold. The huevos rancheros was served with sweet southern style baked beans vs. Normal black beans or refried beans. The sweet baked beans were gross salsa and eggs served on top of an uncooked raw corn tortilla. I would never recommend this place, far better options in the area.
This was our first time dining at Jimmy's. As soon as we walked in we could tell it was the kind of restaurant we would like. The beer selection was fantastic. The menu had several choices to my liking. I settled on the filet mignon was was glad I did. The steak was great along with the au gratin potatoes. We weren't rushed at all. The whole experience was wonderful. We will definitely be back!
I was disappointed with the dish I ordered. In the past, each time I ordered chicken picata, the dish was served with chicken, in a white/wine lemon sauce, capers, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. Jimmy's decided to make a change and the dish was served with chicken, no white/wine lemon sauce, mushrooms and angel hair pasta. No asparagus. It was more like chicken marsala then chicken picata. So now I need to look for a restaurant that serves chicken picata.
Great Thanksgiving dinner--with a few more choices than the average holiday restaurant menu (which covered both of our wants/likes). Helpful waitstaff...fun, holiday vibe!
Food was yummy and satisfying. Liked having some choices!
(Buffet style choices, served by waitstaff.)
We have been to Jimmy's before and were very satisfied with the food and service. This time we were there for Thanksgiving dinner and were extremely impressed! The restaurant was packed and the efficient team at Jimmy's provided a delicious traditional meal and exceptional customer service. Our server Ashley was cheerful and attentive and the support staff kept the tables cleared and drinks filled. The cooks and wait staff know how to handle crowds. We will be back!
We were here for Thanksgiving Dinner. We were seated right away and served quickly. The food was very mediocre--I am pretty sure the turkey was not carved off a bird, but the "pressed" type. The potatoes and gravy were good, many of the vegetables were not cooked very well and served in very small bowls. The pie was the institutional type, certainly not homemade, served cold, we were not asked if we wanted to have it warm, or given the option of ice cream or whipped cream. I could tell they were ready to turn the table over before we were ready to leave (we were there one hour and 15 minutes.) Overall, we felt rushed and would not return here for a special occasion.
We met another couple at Jimmys for the Thanksgiving dinner. It was our second time there for Thanksgiving. We were seated right on time, our waitress was friendly and informative. The food was very good and was served by an accommodating staff. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Took parents to Sunday brunch. They loved that it was quiet & they could talk/ hear everything. Our server was great! The food was decent, hard to screw up scrambled eggs, but the pancakes were dry. Overall, still a good experience but higher priced than other breakfast places nearby. Ambience & atmosphere made it worth it for us.
Jimmy’s can have great food but they have a problem with consistency. Two in our party and we each order a filet mignon cooked to medium. One of us got a steak that was burnt/charred on the outside and cooked to well done. The other of us got a steak that was nicely seared on the outside but basically rare. On the inside. Have had this same problem in the past. Dinner was served in a timely manner but waited for a half hour after dinner to get a small scoop of ice cream for dessert. Keep going back every 3-4 months hoping consistency will improve but it just doesn’t. Unfortunate ...
Happy hour server Stacy, and restaurant server Tracy, were both great! Four of us for both HH and dinner. Happy hour was great. Dinner was "pretty good," but I was truly disappointed with my entree. It was a featured halibut special with prosciutto, and sounded amazing, but with the prosciutto and capers, it was so incredibly salty that the flavor of the halibut was lost. The accompanying sauce and fingerling potatoes did not make up for the salty fish. I ate less than half. Be careful of the seasonal halibut specials, I'd say!
