Jimmy's - Minnetonka Ratings and Reviews
Great steaks. We shared the bone in rib-eye special. It was done to perfection. Everything was great. Their fish selection are very good as well. One of our favorite places to eat. Be sure to take advantage of their holiday gift card offers as well, great savings.
We've frequented Jimmy's several times over the past few years and tonight they were off. Ran out of lobster tail special early, replacement entre seafood linguine was salty, bland & sauce/noodles had a dirty water taste. My wife had a filet & mashed potatoes, both lacked seasoning and she added salt, pepper & butter to enhance. Server was ok but apologized for all the issues and brought us each a cup of stew which was unique & very good. Wine selection was great but disapointed in food quality.
We have dined at Jimmy's several times, and we were both disheartened and surprised by the poor food we received at this visit. My husband and I both had chef's features, which we would have thought would be awesome...but were not. He had a filet mignon fettucine, and he was disappointed with the filet in the dish, which he said was tough and gristly. I had a lobster risotto, which sounded so yummy, but in reality had only a few tiny bites of lobster in the dish. My entree alone was $32, so you can imagine my overall disappointment. Our pleasant server was quite nice, and we enjoyed her service. Overall though, I will think twice about dining here again.
We requested a quiet table and it was delivered. Food was great. There was no pressure to leave and I was able to completed my business lunch. I will definitely continue to bring clients to Jimmy's. Making a reservation using Open Table was convenient and accurate.
As a member of Jimmy's eclub, and a semi-frequent visitor, I have come to expect great service and quality food from Jimmy's. Unfortunately, our brunch on New Year's Day fell far short of expectations. I realize restaurant quality on New Year's Day could suffer from NYE hangover, however, service was shakey, food was delivered un finished (ie, no side meat with the Cake and Eggs) or unsatifactory. My eggs (scrambled) had spots of brown (not in line with restaurant standards.
My wife ordered Eggs Benedict. This dish fell far short of her expectations. Mostly, there was very little Canadian Bacon in the benedict. Not even enough to cover the English muffin. Sad!
Jimmy's makes a great dinner for a fair price. I will return for that. The Brunch, however, left much to be desired.
Made reservation for NYE. Arrived on time and the atmosphere seemed nice. We got seated right away. Problem was my wife and I were put at a table in the corner where all I could see was two walls and the wait staffs register. Felt like we were thrown in the corner. The vibe from the place was more 60+ as we didn’t see any younger couples. Service was okay, a little slow but it was NYE. Waitress questioned my wife when she asked for side dressing for the second time and when she took my salad plate she made a comment about me not eating the tomatoes. Overall steak was good and cooked to order but not a place my wife and I would go back to again.
We were there for NYE. Food was great, but got the overwhelming feeling we were being timed. A man with a clipboard came by more than once to “look around” but it was painfully obvious that he was observing the tables progression. We were also not offered desert which in this level of price and quality of food should be a given. After I realized they hadn’t offered, I was not about to ask. I understand it’s NYE, and you’re busy, but I also don’t care. If you overbooked that’s your own problem, don’t take so many reservations. Also, this is after we altered our reservation per Jimmys request the evening before our reservation. I’d go again, but not during a busy evening or weekend. I don’t need to be rushed out of a meal. Please note, there were only 5 of us and only 3 were drinking. Only two rounds. All young professionals who dine out often. This was not our first rodeo of fine dining and know exactly what we should be getting when going to a restaurant of this caliber.
We went to Jimmy’s Christmas Eve Day for brunch. There were 11 of us. The food and service were both excellent. Sorry I don’t remember the names of the two servers who took such good care of us. We enjoyed it so much we decided to make it a Christmas tradition. Thank you, Jimmy’s!!
The food and service were both excellent. It had a very comfortable, well decorated environment, especially with the festive holiday decorations.
It was fairly loud, but there did seem to be some large holiday groups while we were there, so they would be louder than normal, smaller groups.
I hadn’t been to Jimmy’s for several years - mistake! Food was absolutely delicious and all of us enjoyed it. The booths were set up well and we could have nice conversation. The only slight draw back was the service. Our server was fast and friendly but did seem to step in and interrupt the conversations quite a bit - she’ll learn! I highly recommend Jimmy’s for a business lunch.
Went to Jimmys for my birthday with the family (Sunday Brunch, 12:00, 12/17/17). A lovely table was ready for us. Server took our order for cocktails & food. Didnt see anyone again for about 30 mins when we got our Bloody Marys & food at the same time! Had 3 different Benedicts and all were cold and poached eggs were hard! We didnt receive carmel rolls until we asked & food had already been served. Kitchen re-made the Benedicts, but by then the other 4 guests were done eating. No explanation from staff or mgmt. It was NOT the fine dining experience I planned on. We will not go back and wont recommend this to anyone! What happened Jimmys? This change is not good!
We were a group of four and split the bill four ways; others used credit cards and I paid with cash ($100bill). The waiter gave me my change and the others signed off on their cards.
After everything was 'settled' the waiter returned to our table and told me he made a mistake and said he gave me $20 too much in cash back. I had left $10 tip on the table and put the rest of the cash in my wallet, and did not even count it. so, I have no idea if he made a mistake, or if I ended up paying $20 more than I should have. It just seemed 'tacky' to me, to come back to the table and ask for more money with no "real proof" ..............
Nice experience but would rate the food as mediocre on this trip. Visited on a Saturday night at the end of one of their gift card promotions. Although we were not partaking in the promotion, they were very busy, the kitchen must have been overwhelmed. My wife’s walleye was over cooked to the point it was charcoal on the bottom side, others at two tables around us were also unhappy with their steaks. I had the prime rib, it was excellent. Very nice place, I would suggest going when they are not having a promotion. We’ve been there on other occasions and food was much better.
Normally, my wife and I enjoy coming to Jimmys for a nice dinner in a comfortable setting however our last visit was disappointing.
We had a group of six and upon arrival our waiter, Scott, took our drink order then disappeared. After a long wait, someone from the bar brought the tray of drinks to the table and told us they had been sitting at the bar for a while.
When it was time for the food one person in our group specifically asked for no onions on his steak filet sandwich. The food seemed to also take an exceptionally long time to come (note we had a 5:30 dinner reservation on a Saturday night). When the food did arrive sure enough the sandwich was loaded with onions. We sent it back to the kitchen and the rest of the group was nearly done eating by the time the replacement sandwich came. The replacement ended up to be blood red rare and still had onion on it.
The disappointing part was the waiter offered very little in apologies and no compensation whatsoever for the poor service.
Jimmy's was an excellent choice for our business meeting this afternoon. The hostess accommodated at last minute addition to our table professionally and politely! Our server noticed that a table of 20+ was just about to place an order and was able to enter our order quickly to ensure that we were not waiting for our food. Excellent service that went above and beyond.
