We were celebrating 3 of our guest Birthdays and those weren’t even acknowledged how disappointing . The service was so slow we waited for almost 30 min just for our beverages. And then when it was time to place our order another server had to come and take it .It was a very unpleasant evening.
Well this was our first visit so wasn’t sure what to expect. The night started off with the host pretty much ignoring us when we walked in. He was busy with something behind the desk and just said the other hostess will be with us. No greeting. No hello.
We got seated and waited for 10 minutes for the waiter. Granted they were busy but I was able to make our 7 pm reservations at about 6 pm so that says something.
Waiter finally arrived and took drink orders. Drinks arrived and they both were wrong. I had a martini with extra olives and got a dirty martini instead. The wife had to send hers back (I choked mine down) because they put sprite with her vodka not club soda. Took another 7-8 minutes to get that fixed.
Moving onto dinner. I had the prime rib. Wife the Filet. I had a salad that arrived after 15 minutes of waiting. It was the best part of the meal. My prime rib was not served with au jus. Instead it was served with horseradish sauce which I did not try. I ordered a potato (baked) and it arrived with only sour cream no butter. I was not offered any other accoutrements with the potatoes either. The meat was good. Not great same quality as Outback. My wife’s filet was slightly over cooked but workable.
All said I will not return unless it’s to grab a beer and a sandwich. The quality of food and the poor service just ruined it for me.
Felt like they were understaffed for a busy evening. Not the service we’d seen before. The food was very good, both from their standard menu and the specials. We’ll for sure go back, hoping this was just a glitch.
our reservation along with the party in front of us was not kept. They screamed bloody murder so they got a table. We accepted a bump to a back restless bar high top. Complete lack of competence at this restaurant. they must of been short staffed because a portly individual in a button down shirt gave my wife’s soup to the table next to us. “Did you order soup.....no...we’ll take it I can’t find where it goes” our fault for not stepping in but gimme a break this a hole didn’t ask any other tables if they ordered a soup!!!! this place blows big time.
I recommend Jimmy’s the menu is affordable and the food very good. The only thing is it was quite noisy but the restaurant was very crowded so it was to be expected.
We were very disappointed with Jimmys Charhouse. When we were seated it took the waitress a very long time to acknowledge our presence. She took our drink order and then disappeared for awhile. The host had to deliver our bread and butter. The amount of time we waited for the food was reasonable, but unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. My husband had ribs that were over cooked. I had a chicken sandwich that was very dry and my son had a steak that almost tasted frozen and then defrosted before it was cooked. Our bill was $71, and we did not have alcohol, just soft drinks. I felt it was very overpriced and the only description I can give the food...it was barely edible. We will not be returning.
I ordered the porterhouse medium, but the first one came back medium well. The second one was spot on medium, and was delicious! My girlfriend's Mahi Mahi was just ok. It had been butterflied and was a little over cooked.
We were not impressed, and probably will not return. My girlfriiend thought that the wine tasted "old". There were two wines on the menu that she asked for that they out of, and it was only 7:00 PM on a Wednesday night.
Table of 4 and 3/4 of our meals were over cooked. Steaks were over cooked and very bland. Grilled cheese burger is a great concept but again was very over cooked by 2 levels more than ordered and meat had no seasoning. Other ordered prime rib and was happy. Was very disappointed after being to Elgin location before and enjoying.
Our first time there, on Valentines day. They were fully booked, but we were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation. Comfy booth, nice decor and ambiance. Server, Hanna, was quite possibly the best server I've had. I've been to some very high-end restaurants, but she had it together, even though she was juggling many tables. We had our drinks and order in within minutes of being seated. Refills on drinks were punctual, and always with a smile. The food was good, but I'd have to say, could have had a bit more flavor. We had steak & shrimp and surf and turf. The veggies, steamed brocolli and carrots, were hot and done perfectly. The steaks were cooked to order, juicy, and nice cuts, but they just seamed to lack a bit in the flavor category. Maybe a bit more seasoning? All in all, a very nice meal.
The menu was a bit limited, but that was OK. The challenge we had was with the sweaty server that lacked the concept of providing attention, until it came time for payment. We got our 1st glass of wine, no water (though asked for twice) the salad that came with my entree, a delay, then another glass of wine (still, no water). Our appetizer came and about 3 minutes later the entree. Then the water, followed by the butter for my baked potato.
I think management needs to restructure, provide runners to help the servers and the kitchen/waitstaff needs to time things better.
We came on Valentine's Day, which is clearly going to be a busy night, and one can typically expect things to be a little slower. We arrived for our reservation to find the Host beyond flustered. He asked the hostess to seat us in Chris' section, and her reply was, "I just sat him." As we walked to the table, my wife and I already knew we were not going to have the best service.
Our entire section was talking to one another about the bad service. No one had drinks, or bread. If you had a drink, you were not likely to get a refill. I'm also glad I threw in an app when we ordered drinks, because he didn't come back to take our order until we had eaten the app and were just waiting...
The food came out just fine, but was mediocre at best. The mashed potatoes tasted like they came out of a box, and the steak was so fatty, that I lost easily 4 oz on fat alone. Don't get me wrong, a good steak has good amounts of fat, but this was beyond the norm, or what anyone would want to cut around.
We were willing to dismiss Chris' service as a rough and busy night, but as the night progressed, we could tell he didn't know how to handle a busy night.
As a former server, bartender, and manager, I leave room for extenuating circumstances. However, this was beyond that, and the night, for us, as well as most of the couples dining there, should have been handled differently.
I'll never step foot in Jimmy's again.
Was not very impressed, quite overpriced! Especially for kids meals! 8$ plus drink!? Really?
we ate the Grecian wood roasted chicken...very good, nice crisp skin but the chicken was still moist. Nice choice of vegies and the mashed potatoes tasted home made.
My husband and I visited for a date, The food was awesome and we just had a very nice date.
Service was poor. Waited a long time for salad and then dinner came almost immediately. Baked Potato was over cooked and not warm. Prime rib had no flavor, looked most unappetizing and was not warm. Salad consisted of lettuce, three cherry tomatoes and a few slivers of carrot.
We had a nice dinner. Steaks were good and service was very good. There was a lot of energy in the restaurant and we will be back.
French onion was really good
The filet mignon I had was the most tender piece of meat I have had in years.
The lobster did not taste as good as I thought it would.
I wasn't crazy about the baked potato. It tasted like it was cooked too long or baked as a leftover that had not been ordered a previous time.
Steak cooked as ordered. Tender and what it should be. Crisp salad, warm bread, reasonable cocktails. Waitress and bus staff attentive but not over bearing. We will return.
The restaurant honored our reservation right away and it was busy so glad I made one. Service was very good as was food! We love the stuffed mushrooms!
Excellent.service.Food was awesome. And everyone in the group was happy.
Overall the food was good. Mash potatoes tasted like instant. Fillet medallions were very good.
Good food and pleasant atmosphere. Saturday night noise level was high. We like this place and are always happy with service and food. Hoping it’ll stay around for a long time.
The service was not very good at all. Our table was always a mess, no one would take dishes unless asked to do so. Order was not correct.
It was our first time to Jimmys. Our friends have enjoyed and recommended this restaurant. The food, drinks and service were all excellent ! We will definitely be back!
Meal was over priced for the quality and quantity of the food provided. Vegetables were over cooked and not flavorful. Waitress was very good and the only positive experience. Finally, manager disallowed the use of a coupon when offered stating an exception that was not clearly stated. Not worth going back and spending that kind of money on a meal.
Family dinner after New Years. Food was ok, service was great.
Was nice to find an open table for new years. But food was just all right.
The service was excellent and the food. Will be back again.
Fabulous service on New Years Eve along with great char grilled steak!
Overall nice experience. Changed reservation by phone from 4 people to 9 an hour earlier. A little confusion when we arrived, but able to accommodate all of us. Service was good. Forgot the 1 Childs meal which waitress remembered when serving entrees. Reordered and all was well.
The setting was awesome and the people were good but everyone’s food wasn’t amazing it was kind of cold and was tasting right
Mediocrity shown through from start to finish, with exception of the service. The service was sub-par, from the waiter not knowing the day's soups to not refilling the water. Although my steak was the highlight, cooked perfectly and juicy, the potato was only ok and the vegetable bland. I won't consider returning.
Xmas eve night was horrible. And maybe because the secondary cooks were preparing our dish. Our waitress was awesome upbeat and attentive. She kept us informed about the status of our order. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and the dressing tasted like mayonnaise not ceasar dressing. But the worst part was my daughter had the Parmesan crusted tilapia and it was tasteless and watery. We told the waitress the meals weren't that great but she still brought the $65.00 bill. I have been there before for a light meal at the bar and it was a great experience but I doubt I will ever return again
Had a lovely Christmas Eve dinner with brother and sister in law. Our server was wonderful and appeared when needed; the food was excellent and pricing fair for our selections. The salmon was wonderful, as was the Parmesan encrusted tilapia. Will visit again in 2018.
Good service-steaks were good-ribs a little tough-good drink special
This is second time we ate there. Excellent food, great service. We will be back.
CIci was a wonderful waitress and made our dinner even more enjoyable. Food was delicious. I had the Greek Chicken and my husband the Pork Chops. Would return.
Well. The best I can do on this review is say disappointing. We where there for our company Christmas party. They ran out of prime rib and wood grilled chicken by 7:30 pm on a Saturday night. That unforgivable, very poor planning by the management and the chef . So I ordered the NY strip and it was tender but not much flavor. The wait staff was a little over welmed and not on top of our requests but the Ambience was very nice
I don’t know I would come back or even recommend to a friend because of my disappointment
much too load, tables on top of each other, food was fair
