Jiko - Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
Very nice place in the area - food was so delicious and definitely worth the money
Service was poor with dirty dishes not cleared between courses. The server had the attitude that all tourists are just”lucky” to be at the restaurant. The service did not match the price.
We visited the Animal Kingdom Lodge just for dinner. We heard from friends Jiko had an excellent wine list. That did not disappoint, as our wine was delicious. But the service was SO slow. The only think that came fast was our toddler’s dinner. We ordered no appetizers and received no bread. It took our entree an hour to arrive. The food was fine, but not nearly worth the price tag. I really thought I would see more at a Disney property.
Everything was fantastic, both food and service. It’s expensive but worth it for a special occasion.
Wonderful food and outstanding service!!
The filet mignon and Kushari were amazing. Worth a visit even if you aren’t a guest of Animal Kingdom Lodge!
Not bad but not awesome. Some of the food was really good: flatbread, filet mignon. The bread was not warm, no flavor really, same with the butter. My boyfriend got the lamb and it just didn’t have enough flavor, kind of bland. The environment was cool with music, although some people weren’t adhering to the dress code. Overall, were disappointed we spent that kind of money for not amazing food. But hey, it’s Disney food. Can’t expect anything crazy good.
It’s just too much money for the value. The food, ambiance and service were all very good, but not excellent. We would have done better to take the buffet at Boma.
My issue was the online reservations, I wanted to eat at Boma not Jiko. When I made the reservations but I am not sure how or when in the process my preferred restaurant got changed. When we arrived they would accommodate us at Boma but they were completely booked at the wait could have been several hours.
We took the tour of the restaurants the day before and chose to eat with Jiko for our birthdays. We had to keep reminding the server we were celebrating birthdays. We wore pins as well. The food was good and we had the bone marrow. We asked for a small variation on the set menu but the waiter said "unfortunately" so many times we gave up trying to reason with him. We even asked to speak to the chef but the chef never appeared or acknowledged us. TWO BIRTHDAYS and we asked to see the chef and "unfortunately" we won't be coming back. If the chef or kitchen cannot accommodate a menu variation then "unfortunately" we will go elsewhere. Boma is a great restaurant but "unfortunately" there was not a reservation at a reasonable time for us.
We went to Jiko with my sister and young nieces. The waiters, including one who was in training, were wonderful. My youngest niece accidentally spilled her water all over the table and floor. The waiter and waitress did not even blink. They were over in a flash and took care of it immediately and with kindness.
The food was awesome, lots of interesting and unique flavors. My sister has a gluten allergy and they immediately brought her gluten free bread and gave her recommendations on what foods on the menu were gluten free. They also told her that if she did not like the selections that the chef could make something more to her liking.
Excellent experience. We will definitely be back.
Our server Jessica from Cleveland was amazing. She was an incredible server was there when we needed her to be and was knowledgeable of the food. Eating at a Disney restaurant we know it will cost more and we accept that however, the food quality and taste was not up to the standards or price we expected to pay. Maybe it was an off night for the kitchen staff. At this point I would not recommend it on the food quality and price.
Disney standards - magical and delicious! An extraordinary dining experience due the lovely authentic atmosphere, delicious meal and fun as only Disney can deliver!
We have been going to Jiko's for over 16 years and they have never come up short, always a highlight on our trip!
The hostess Gugu was wonderful, genuine, and thoughtful. Our waiter Leslie was a bit impatient and not too friendly which almost took away from our dining experience but we didn’t let it. My Husband's fish was delicious. I got a vegetarian dish...some corn entree...that needs to be developed more or just taken off the menu. Would we go back? Definitely. The ambiance is lovely. Menu is limited but they seem to have some solid options.
Get out of the parks and treat yourself. Mykaka was spot on with wine and food recommendations. Scallops and fillet melted in your mouth.
Delicious food in an exotic decor. Service was very good. This was a dining adventure. Nice rose-scented towel before dinner. Excellent wine. It was a little noisy and crowded. Sat at the bar first and enjoyed a cocktail which was well prepared. I would recommend this venue for adults and families with older children. This was not a buffet. Pricier food but better quality than other places. Enjoyed Taste of Africa appetizer and lobster tail with succotash and a tomato-based sauce. Others enjoyed seafood curry. The macaroni and cheese with added ingredients had a delicious but somewhat greasy elk ragout on top.
Excellent food and service. Sit back, relax and trust your waiter’s recommendations.
Best choice at Disney. Little skimpy on the wine, though.
More of a place for adults and leave the young kids at home. Menu limited to very african themed choices and honestly, we cook so well ourselves, that it's hard to spend $50 per plate and not be critical - lol
The waiter and food were exceptional. The service we received was outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends and family. Thank you for a wonderful time.
Amazing!!! Fantastic appetizers and the seafood curry was incredible.
The service was excellent and the food delicious. The room was beautiful!
The restaurant is nice in a very Disney way. The appetizers were both very good - some dips with naan and a nice elk flatbread. My entree was disappointing, the bison wasn’t cooked to the temperature I requested and the meat was tough and chewy. The other entree of short rib was adequate, nothing very special. Desserts were good. Prices were high, probably no surprise in a Disney resort. Wine prices also seemed a bit high to me, a Cabernet was $23 a glass. All in all, a nice atmosphere and good food but make careful choices.
Very good place to take in the animals and just go and have a culinary experience
Somewhat overpriced but worth the experience. Something different. Amazing selection of flavors. Delicious. Worth the trip
Great atmosphere, one of our favorite at WDW. Or main server was knowledgeable and prepared for my wife's celiac questions. Made great suggestions. Food was great, very tasty with the usual great presentation. The gang service though was not quite up to the snuff. They miss timed bring accompanying wine courses. Some came after the course was eaten. Also they did not bring the tables plates for each course in unison. There was 5 or more minutes waiting for everyone to get their food. Not terribly busy.
The attendants are great, but the value is too high. The portions are small, and the prices are too high.
The food at Jiko was delicious! It was great to be able to enjoy a blend of African cuisine. Excellent service and lovely atmosphere too. Great wine and cocktails as well. Would highly recommend!
One of my favorite places in the Walt Disney World resort. Always a great meal.
Amazing South African food and drinks! Worth the money.
The ambiance was nice. It was around 9 PM on a Sunday and not too busy. Unfortunately, we our food took ~40 minutes to be delivered with no explanations. Luckily the food was tasty.
