Jellyfish Ratings and Reviews
Sushi: overpriced and taste like chlorine - have had better sushi at hole in the walls that I've stumbled into on a whim. Hot food and cocktails are good. Service is nice! Extremely disappointed overall due to the quality of the sushi and the hype of the restaurant, which is the reason I came.
The food is always very good and select sushi rolls are half price during Happy Hour. Our server was very slow to fill water and check on us and our water tasted like bleach (cups probably were not rinsed properly). Eventually, it got to the point where we just asked her to leave the bottle of water at our table (as many restaurants do). She didn't seem to like this and did not give us a response. She just left the bottle on the table without pouring it and walked away... this didn't surprise me because she didn't respond to any other requests I had - no "sure" or "ok" even. The environment is always nice and since this is more popular in the evening, the restaurant is pretty empty and good for lunch.
The food was excellent the service was under par for the price of the meal. Drinks were forgotten about and took 30 minutes to receive. I've worked in the service industry for 8 years, I understand things are forgotten about but that should be communicated to the table, not awkwardly avoided. Food was great, nigiri was excellent. Seating is a little too close. Would definitely give the place another shot with another server.
Service was horrible. Delayed and very unprofessional. Their sushi was lackluster at best. My party had four different rolls and the best one would be average at another sushi restaurant. Drinks tasted pretty good but took 15 minutes to get. Server said the reason for the delay was because they were so busy. I counted about 15 people in the place at the time. Not going back.
Sushi was great, especially the Cherry Blossom. One of the best sushi rolls I've ever had. Service was attentive and pleasant yet lightning fast so we wish we had a little more time. Honey walnut popcorn shrimp was incredible. Except for the obnoxious jerk who wanted to talk loud and tell everyone his work issues that night including the woman he was sitting with, the place was great. Would definitely go back!!
Went there for a birthday dinner and while the food was good, the service was horrible. Waitress rarely checked in to see if we needed anything else. Had to track her down to get more drinks, food, and had to ask for the dessert menu twice. For the neighborhood and price point of the restaurant, I expect better service. We got so sick of it, instead of staying for more drinks or food, we just wanted to leave and go somewhere else. Food and ambiance was the only thing that saved the overall experience, however, with all the restaurants in Chicago, I won't go back nor would I recommend to others.
The ambiance is interesting and more of a lounge vibe with front room seating which allows one to people watch on Rush street. The pleasant staff was outstanding providing input when asked and keeping water & drinks filled. If you are searching out average sushi this place will not disappoint. The sushi & rolls were fresh and adequate but do not provide a reason for a return trip.
My friends and I loved the blue toned ambiance and the more energetic music. The service was great and very attentive. The food was amazing and I tried new things that I wasn't sure I would like but they were all good! I got the summer rush roll which was soo fresh and on the healthier side (!) , my one friend got the fried rice which was amazing and the other friend got the lobster mango roll which was so summery and delicious! Definitely coming back here!
First time visit in Chicago and sushi was on the menu! Good job open table! It's a little hard to find so you really have to pay attention so you won't walk past it, it's tucked in a corner. Any-who, the ambiance was amazing! Perfect date spot. Food was amazing as well, and their wine selection is great as well
This place is super cute but it's a little hidden from the street so I get why it was so empty. Service was great staff was attentive ...I used a gilt voucher but I probably wouldn't spend this much on a regular there a places serving more at reasonable prices (union sushi)
Food in value was absolutely fantastic Great service although I will say that there was a very loud crowd that needed to be quieted down by management and no one did so I know that can be a slippery slope however the rest of the customers were very uncomfortable
I feel as though the food was not very authentic and not very well prepared. The sushi was not as tightly rolled as it should have been, and could have tasted much better. The ambience was nice and the waiters were very nice and welcoming. However, the sushi was overpriced, and I could have gone to a much better sushi restaurant for the same price. The sushi pieces were also way too large.
My husband and I stopped in for an early Friday night dinner and had our pick of tables. We were impressed with the simple, contemporary decor and layout of the bar and restaurant. Our server was delightful. From the happy hour menu, we enjoyed the creative maki rolls and cocktails, in addition to fresh pieces of nigiri from the full price menu. The Cucumber seaweed salad was one of the best we have had- crisp cucumber slices and just the right amount of seaweed and vinegar.
