Upon arrival, we were pointed to the dining room. I explained that we had reservations in the bar, which had been confirmed by voice mail the previous day. I was told that we could be accommodated in the bar, but we had to vacate by 7:30. Our reservation was for 5:30. Upon being seated, the waitperson reiterated that we must leave by 7:15 so they could bus the table for the next customers. We assured her that we would not cause them, or the next party, any inconvenience. Service and the food was excellent from then on. About midway through our bar snacks, we were informed that the 7:30 reservation had been canceled and we had the table for as long as we wished. We left by 7.
Forty-three years ago we had our wedding rehearsal dinner an Jeffrey's. Over the years we have gone back on special occasions. This is the first time we have experienced a SNAFU on their part, which the staff so pointedly threw back upon us. Hopefully, they will be a bit more tactful next year.
Pleasant personnel, good food, good service, an all-around treat. Will return.
The restaurant is Pricey, particularly the wine and steak
The Steaks and sides were fabulous and the service was the Best in Austin. Outstanding Wine list and great cocktails. Highly Recommend!! Will be back to try other dishes.
What a lovely dining experience. One of the best meals we had in Austin. Definitely high end from start to finish. Drinks in the bar felt like a club at The Derby. There were some issues with our seating but the staff handled the situation in a professional, discrete manner. The food was fantastic and beautifully presented. A must try!
First time at Jeffrey's. Great food and better service (thank you skyler). Well run restaurant...a range of flavors and textures with perhaps the best wine list in texas...mark (service) and june (bev director) have a complete dining experience working...bar area seemed to be a local favorite as well...From tuna sashimi, fois gras, shellfish risotto, lamb- skyler may be correct- possibly best in texas- incredible souffles for desert...see you gain soon.
Kendall was fantastic and helped make our first visit amazing! If we come back to austin, we will be sure to stop in again!
The food is always excellent, especially the steaks. The staff are wonderful and attentive. We always have a very enjoyable evening at Jeffrey's.
The service was attentive and the food was spot-on. The menu is straight-forward and everything was well prepared. It's not an inventive menu. If you're looking for classic American fare done well, this is your spot.
Great recommendation. Wonderful food, great Atmosphere
Excellent in all respects. Would definitely recommend it The lobster bisque was to die for.
The waiter was the best we have ever had. What an amazing night. Every time we are in Austin we will come back to Jeffrey’s. Thank you for the delicious food and impeccable service.
Inexperienced server. Waited too long for drinks, Texas toast was burned, didn’t make us aware that soufflés were available for dessert and to order early. We ordered a soufflé and profiteroles. The profiteroles came, but no soufflé. Didn’t want to wait any longer. Food was otherwise excellent but the service was overall, disappointing.
Jeffrey’s unbeatable, definitely in the top 2-3 restaurants in Austin, every time everything is amazing!
Excellent. The Wagyu Ribeye is unbelievable. A bit pricey, but worth every penny.
Best restaurant in Austin, great steaks and atmosphere.
We went to celebrate the birth of our new baby girl while my mother was in town. This was my fourth time eating at Jeffrey’s and each time has been equally outstanding. The food is phenomenal but the service is really what sets this restaurant apart from others in Austin. Their attention to detail is absolute perfection. And to accommodate a family with two small children!! Bravo. I can not recommend this place enough.
I have been a fan for many years but haven't been to the "new" version. I'm happy to say that the quality is as great as ever and it is well worth it for special occasions. If I had any qualm it is that Jeffrey's is now a little more "traditional" fine dining, as opposed to a more laid back Austin version of fine dining. Similarly, the cuisine isn't as inventive as it once was. That said, the food had the same excellence of execution as always, and the service was impeccable. Highly recommended!
We were there for a birthday and they went out of their way to make it special! I give them a big thumbs up!
Amazing food, service, everything. Love it
Love! Great food, cocktails, and service. The perfect spot for date night or a special occasion.
Awesome food, service ambiance.Austin needs more like this
Ordered the 6oz petite filet medium. Best steak ever!
The wine list was way too heavy with bottles substantially over 200 (most way over) and very few bottles in the 100ish range. Unless you are planning to spend at least $250 per person or dont drink wine I'd skip this place. Food was nothing special, especially not for Austin.
The first review I ever left for a restaurant on OpenTable was for Jeffrey's. It was about two years ago and I still remember that meal. So, when I found myself in Austin again for a business function and needed to take some of our best clients out for dinner, I instinctively chose Jeffrey's again. There's always some trepidation when choosing a restaurant - even if you've been there before. Will the food be as good as I remember? Will the service shine like last time? Will my clients think it's as special as I do? All of those were answered with a resounding "yes" this time. Jeffrey's may just be one of my favorite restaurants in the entire country. I just wish they'd open one in the Tampa Bay area where I live.
On this occasion, I had the pork chop. The portion was more than enough and the preparation and plating were exceptional. My guests had dishes that ranged from ribeye to risotto to red snapper and all were astounded by how delicious everything was. We shared brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes as side items and they both went very quickly. The wine list is impeccable and we took down a couple of bottles of very good Brunello.
I can't recommend Jeffrey's enough. Whether a business meal, a first date or a date night out without the kids, I can almost guarantee that you will come away impressed. The location, which is just a quick Uber ride from downtown, is perfect. The ambiance is amazing (you mean there are still restaurants where you can hear the conversation at your own table?!). The staff (kitchen, service and management) consistently deliver. I can't wait to get back to Austin!
Amazing wagyu cooked to perfection! The chocolate soufflé for dessert was a great finish! Service was top notch. Can’t wait for the next occasion to go again.
I am happy to report that fine dining in Austin is not dead ! You can only eat so much BBQ meat and fried chicken before you cry "UNCLE" !!!!! Worth the 10 minute drive from downtown to this oasis of culinary delights. Warmly lit interior with a romantic feel and soft music playing in the background. Started with Osetra caviar and a bottle of Batard Montrachet followed by a seafood risotto and sole meuniere. Absolutely marvelous ! Additionally, the kitchen graciously sent out a couple foie gras sandies and crispy creped waygu bites at no charge, which always make them taste so much better. The staff was very attentive, without being overbearing. I might add that EVERY Sunday, all bottled wine(no matter the cost), is 1/2 price. Never, ever pass up a Batard for 1/2 price !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The entire experience soothed my restless soul that so desperately needed a night off from country music and the smell of smoke ! Thank God for Jeffery's.
Waiter assigned could not keep our glasses of water full, nor timely pour the wine. We had to wrangle another waiter to take our dinner order after slowly (our choice) proceeding from h’or doeuvres to appetizers and then completely stalling out with no one paying us any mind. The menues were still on the table, it wasn’t a mystery. Crumbs covered the table after the popovers, and contrary to EVERY other time we have been to Jeffrey’s over 20 years , NO one scraped and cleared the crumbs. If you want to be first class you better have the service to back it up.
Food was fantastic. Service left a great deal to be desired. A great deal to be desired.
Exceptional food and service. The decor is comically outdated, but who cares when the food and service are exceptional?
I took my boyfriend to dinner for his birthday. We were both very impressed with the food and service. It is definitely upscale and a bit on the pricey side. But, we knew that going in. Being that is was a special occasion, we ordered quite a bit.
We started with the truffled deviled eggs. To my surprise and delight, there was a shaved large piece of truffle atop the egg...delicious! From there we asked for the cheese cart and tried five of the cheeses. Our additional apps and entrees were fantastic.
Truly this was an all around outstanding dining experience. Thank you!
Split decision. Wonderful filet! Perfectly seasoned and cooked! Popovers were a delicious addition. Seafood risotto was mediocre at best. Bland with over cooked seafood. Risotto was definitely not worth the price.
Delicious as usual. Service is impeccable!
Jeffrey's is a great place to visit for a special occasion. The courteous and attentive service and little extras really makes the experience!
We go to Jeffrey’s once or twice a year for birthdays and anniversaries. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants but sadly I think it’s slipping. They brought out our $150 steak and the center was cold. It was cooked properly, but cold... seemed like it had just sat too long after being cooked. We asked them to heat it up which they did, but unfortunately the steak suffered because of it since it was already sliced. Very disappointing. A couple years ago they undercooked our steak but returned with excellent replacements, which made me still love going there. This was a more disappointing experience. It also leads you to wonder... how does a steak place keep screwing up cooking steaks? Also, I used the restroom this time and the first one I went into to had water (or something) splashed every where, all over the seat, sink and floor. The second one I went into had paper towels all over the floor. This is not what you would expect from what I have long considered the nicest stake restaurant in town. Perhaps the difference was because of the day we went, in the past we have gone on weekdays and this was a Saturday night, so maybe it was too busy although one of the employees said it was a slow Saturday, so not sure. Perhaps we’ll try again on a weekday but my enthusiasm for the restaurant has definitely waned. Shame.
The food and service was outstanding. It had been several years since we had visited Jeffrey's but
this was even better. We had the snapper and the dover sole and both were outstanding.
Lovely! Amazing food E V E R Y T I M E
Good ambience with attentive and friendly service. The gnocchi with black truffle was wonderful - both in presentation and taste. However, the Dover sole was dry and lukewarm by the time the dish reached me. Apparently, the dish was likely neglected as the fish seemed over-cooked and then probably left under a heat lamp for an extended period of time, if even. I was in no mood to get this remade as it was already late in the evening. A bit of a shame as I know this establishment has always had great potential.
We are always pleased with our experience here; food was amazing from appetizers thru desserts, and all our servers were a pleasure.
Fabulous as always. The food is amazing, the service is excellent, one of the best restaurants I have been to.
