Jeffrey's Restaurant & Bar has been an Austin neighborhood fine dining institution since 1975. In 2012 the restaurant closed for a major renovation and has reopened under the leadership of Austin's premiere restaurant group, McGuire Moorman Hospitality. The restaurant, nestled in a quiet neighborhood just west of downtown features a lively bar, three distinct dining rooms and menus featuring dry-aged prime steaks, updated classic fine dining and locally sourced produce. Private dining is available, free valet is standard & local car service is offered.

Josephine House offers lunch, brunch, happy hour, dinner & Monday night steak frites. The Clarksville cottage features a small marble bar for coffee or cocktails, intimate tables in the dining room, shady nooks on our patio and a grassy front lawn for lounging. Chef Alex Manley and her team prepare an eclectic daily menu featuring the best locally sourced products.

Jeffery’s is better than ever. Still has the cache from 30 years ago with a wonderful new take on the classics. Service is impeccable and the food was gloat worthy.

The service at Jeffrey's was excellent as was the ambiance. Unfortunately, the food just did not deliver. My steak was mediocre and my colleague's seafood risotto was overcooked (tough, chewy shrimp). I heard a lot of good things, but I think there are better Steak house options in Austin (like Bob's or Capital Grille).

Excellent food and wine! Waiter took a little long to check on & bring our drinks, but atmosphere is conducive to private conversations and ambiance is perfect.

Food was beautifully prepared and had great flavor. Wine selection was impressive and showed a diverse portfolio. Service was excellent. Wait staff was very timely and attentive to all details from recommending wine and food to ensuring we had everything we needed while dining. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a high quality meal or to celebrate a special occasion with family or friends.

We had the best time at Jeffrey's. It is expensive, but we were celebrating, so we were prepared to shell out quite a bit. The service is fantastic - they took such good care of us, and the food was all perfect. We got the dry-aged ribeye, two sides, two apps, and a dessert, and we finished everything. One of the best steaks we've ever had + great service + romantic ambiance makes for the perfect special-occasion spot!

Everything was delicious. Server took my napkin when it fell on the ground and never brought another. Had to borrow my date’s until I could flag someone down 10 min later. Seemed kind of busy. No worries. Other than that everything was outstanding.

Google was not kidding around with the 4 $ signs for this place. Be prepared to PAY! But, boy, was it worth it. Food was delicious, service was top notch, and a nice cozy setting.

Definitely a good place if you want to impress someone 😉 Or just come out with your friends for a fancy night out, which is want we did. None of us where brave enough to order the $169 porterhouse steak but we did get the risotto, short ribs, and turbot (a type of fish) which were all fantastic.

Restaurant has free valet, which was very convenient.

Tiny room. Poorly designed seating. Shoved in a corner. Repeatedly brought gluten items after letting them know I was celiac. Flavors and presentation has gone down hill. Eaten here multiple times. Not enticed to go back.

I really enjoyed dining at Jeffrey's with good friends for my birthday. The food was terrific with the exception of the seafood risotto which was overwhelmed with herbs and not cooked properly. Everything else was superb. Service was lovely. Wine list is great and the half-price bottles on Sunday are a fantastic bargain. Would definitely recommend this place.

Best place in Austin for a special occasion. Service and food are as good as you will find in Austin. It can be a little loud for a quite conversation. Jeffrey's is expensive, but quality is worth price. Wish I could afford to eat there every week.

Our steak order had to be sent back for both my husband and I. They were very nice about it. But we both found the steaks to be average. And we ordered a cappuccino and it was cold. Didn’t have the heart to tell them! It is a lovely restaurant with a great ambience. I just think we were unlucky in our food that night!

Look, the cuisine at Jeffrey’s is very good, probably the best fine dining in Austin. What I don’t get is how they get away with charging over $40 for each main course, and a wine list that has less than 10% of the red wine on its wine list under $100. Too many young women eating there using daddy’s credit card. To sum, it would last in NYC or SF at those price levels.

The service was great...wait staff was excellent as was the manager...next time would ask for a quieter table in a booth...Food was good but not necessarily outstanding. I would not order the baked Alaska...as it is made with an olive oil cake which is MUCH too heavy for such a light desert. They did take this off of our bill but was surprised that dessert was even on the menu. It was a B meal...which is not bad but not great...

We celebrated a birthday and had a fabulous time with Tony. We would ask for him again in the future. We all agree that it was the best steak we have ever had - there wasn't a single dish that wasn't spectacular! Their martini bar was fun and Tony was able to recommend great wine. We wish we lived in Austin so we could go more often!

I have been going to Jeffrey's for 20 years. We especially go on birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine Day and other times to celebrate something special. Probably been 100 times, and always excellent food, service and atmosphere. This time it was not so good. I had to ask the server to get us our first drink, and the music was too loud. Overall, the service rated C or B-. As usual, the food was outstanding. In summary, my wife and I were not pleased with the overall experience.

We had a very nice night there on the day before Valentines. Tony was our server and he was great. The only thing I didn't like was where we were seated. The bench seating had table too close together and had to listen to pretty much everything the folks at the next table were talking about. I think the layout could be a bit better with some kind of partition or something. But still a great place with amazing food.

First Jeffrey’s is that special restaurant that you visit a few times each year. Special occasions and when you want that extra touch on service and the meal makes it a go to place. Derek was an excellent server and his cheese choices and excellent way to end the meal. We both had seafood which was prepared perfectly with the seafood risotto, the best we have had since our trips to Italy.

The food and ambience were ultimately everything you would expect from this iconic high-end restaurant. Interestingly, the main course -- when first delivered -- had two issues. First, one of the side dishes delivered to the table was not one that we ordered. The waiter immediately said, I will bring you the correct dish, and this extra one is on us. Then, my steak, which had been ordered "black and blue" was neither. It did not have a good sear on it, and the inside was pink at best. I pointed it out to the waiter, and -- again -- the correction was prompt and effective. My replacement steak was perfect. The remainder of the experience was flawless. Therefore, I score Jeffrey's five stars, and would continue to recommend it. Make no mistake, though, it is expensive. Specifically, the wine is severely overpriced. I know wine, and I have an extensive personal cellar. I expect to be charged a premium for wine in a restaurant; I do not expect to pay four times the retail price. Therefore I grade them down on "value", not because it is an expensive restaurant. I am not offended by the price of their entrees. But the wine prices are needlessly excessive.
