Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse - Louisville
Jeff Ruby regulars will be pleased to know that their favorite signature items from the Cincinnati restaurants will be well represented in Louisville. The bone-in filet, the 7 cheese baked macaroni, creamed spinach, truffle flake creamed corn, & of course Jeff Ruby's secret recipe cheesecake will all be staples of the Louisville menu.
Styled after the great NY steakhouses of the 1930's & 40's, Jeff Ruby's promises to be as pleasing visually as it is to the palate. French art-deco design, plush mohair upholstery, hand selected antique furniture and cinematic crystal chandeliers anchored by a 1950s-era antique featured in the Starz series Magic City and the 32 foot wall of wine.

Severely under cooked a medium filet, but corrected it quickly
We came for our 5th wedding anniversary. Have been several times before always outstanding. The start was a little slow for them. Few minutes for the greet, and then a few minutes for the appetizer. After that Grant recovered and was great from there. Also shout out to Brandon to help recover the evening
We have gone to Jeff Ruby’s several times over the years and this is the first time we were disappointed in our service and food, but especially the service. Very slow and not very friendly. Very unlike the past visits we have had. Not sure I want to spend $200.00 plus there again....
the filet was not as good as we anticipated and so far truths chris has the edge on steak quality. my wife had hers ordered medium well and it had to be sent back due it coming out to her rare (waiter agreed, too) service is great and love th decor
Our dinner was amazing! Our server was very knowledgeable about everything Jeff Ruby's had offer. By far the best steak we've ever had when out dining. We'll definitely be going back soon!
Dinner was nice and our waiter Nick was great.
We chose Jeff Ruby's based on recommendations online, and we were not disappointed! The ambiance of the restaurant was great, with live music at the bar (really good live music). Our waiter Andre provided excellent service, was very attentive, and had a great sense of humor. And the food? Excellent. Our steaks were cooked perfectly, the sides were delicious, and dessert was a great ending to a very nice meal.
We went to this restaurant twice this week, back to back nights. The first night we were in the main dining room and the second night we were in the back room. Service and food was excellent, but it was so loud that you couldn’t have a conversation in the back room! And the back room was too crowded. My chair was at the end of the rectangle 6 top table and I must’ve been bumped 10-12 times by the staff. It got old! This is no place to have a business meeting if you want to hear a conversation. If you’re going for a celebrations, you’d have a great time!
The food was amazing and Nick was wonderful! Never disappoints.
Food was outstanding. Server was personable and made our dinner even more enjoyable.
In my email conformation, it was stated no shorts or ball caps for men but upon visiting Jeff Ruby's I quickly realized shorts were being permitted. Please enforce or remove requirement . Thank you.
Overall, about what you would expect for a standard gourmet restaurant. The service was excellent, waitstaff was incredibly professional. The food was pretty good, but not $200 good.
The standard bread and butter appetizer was delectable, their nightly special cheese with truffle oil and herbs was good and set us up for a good experience.
My husband and I both got two filets, one was the Jeff Ruby specialty bone-in, the other was the standard petite. Both steaks were not evenly cooked, we ordered medium on both and both had sizable sections of well-done steak. Neither of us ever send food back unless it's inedible, so it was palatable enought despite being overcooked.
I ordered the California roll for $12 since it's usually my litmus test for a restaurant's sushi as it's widely found and hard to do wrong.
The price for a single california roll was already double the normal amount for other restaurants in the city, so I expected something special. It had fresh crab which made it slightly more worth it, but it had sesame seeds instead of actual roe (a trait I find in grocery store sushi.. not a standard, let alone gormet experience.)
The rice was bland and didnt stand out, nor did I get the taste of really anything but the crab and sesame. Sesame seeds are typically used to cover up the taste of low quality fish, and with the crab as fresh as it was it would have done much better had the rest of the roll had equally as much flavor. Very dissappointed in the sushi, especially for a place that boasts a full sushi bar and specialty menu.
Cocktails were fairly good, I asked for a cosmopolitan and my husband got two of their specialty drinks and a gin mule. All were made incredibly well.
In summary, sushi leaves something to be desired, steaks were fair, cocktails were good, and certain trademarks here and there make it a good experience. Is it $150 worth of a meal (Sans cocktails)? I'd say no, but I would pay about $100 for the same experience.
This was one of the best filets I have ever had. The sushi was also excellent. Great drinks as well. Our server, Jimette, was outstanding! Attentive,
Friendly, and knowledgeable. Excellent experience and I would go again!
Anniversary! The only thing that was not 5 star in my opinion was the lighting. To much pink cast from the lights. Other then that it was perfect. We will go back even with the lighhts
husband and I had a great date night at Jeff Ruby’s. Staff was attentive, filet and ribeye were delicious. Food was a tad salty, but overall everything was great and it’s still the best steak in town.
Food quality was excellent. Service started fail slowly when we arrived, but improved. As with any upscale steakhouse, menu is pricey, but we knew that going into it.
Service was great; food was very good but pricey. We were celebrating our anniversary. The server even took a picture to commemorate the evening. When we concluded our meal he asked if we wanted dessert and we declined. He came back a few minutes later with a piece of cheesecake complete with a candle. Imagine our surprise to find a $5 charge for the ‘celebration cake’ we didn’t order and assumed was comped. We paid it but it left a bad taste. Not a good finish to an otherwise great evening.
Great food. Very goid drinks as well. Great old fashioned drink. Wagu was perfect. Good suchi. Wine was great but can get expensive. No inexpensive wine here. Service was very good as well.
Awesome everything as usual!!! Service, food, ambiance always exceeds my expectations!
Fabulous evening sitting no in the bar area. Great food great service (Adrian)
Must go too. Very enjoyable experience.
Absolutely the best restaurant in Louisville... Hands down top of the food chain!!
Portions were better than expected. Grant and his helpers did a fantabulous job taking care of us.
Outstanding service and meal! Would definitely come back when in Louisville.
Went with my wife and daughter for my wife’s birthday. Service by Brian and his team was impeccable. Manager Glenn DeLong stopped by to ensure all was perfect. This Louisville Jeff Ruby’s is my favorite... the sum of all small things done very well. Food was outstanding. Highly recommended. Not cheap, but so worth it.
There reservation was for 5 o’clock and we were seated right on time. The server was very attentive. The food was on point. We were able to conduct business without feeling rushed
Outstanding as always.
The food was delicious, serve was great and the restaurant was really cool. I’d highly recommend!
We visited for our anniversary. Service was excellent, prompt but not forcing a rush. We never got the impression they were trying to turn a table on us, as busy as they were. Everything we tried was right on. Admittedly, you should expect this, given their pricing and reputation, but they met the expectation. The added touches for us were the complimentary dessert and a framed photo of the two of us, which we appreciated greatly. Overall, very well done!
This is a great upscale restaurant. The price of the food May be a bit high for some but it is well worth the price. Food was amazing. And the service was exelent if I'm ever in louisville again I'll definitely come back here.
Amazing service, great atmosphere. Our server (Andre?) gave great recommendations for drinks and sides. Steak was not as amazing as it has been in the past, was a bit tough. A great way to celebrate our anniversary!
We enjoyed our evening very much !!! The food was deliscious and our waiter was super !!!
The best steakhouse in Louisville. It was a perfect night.
Amazing as always!
Great atmosphere, food was excellent and service was outstanding.
Restaurant is beautiful and the service was excellent. Our waiter was VERY knowledgeable regarding the wine selections.
This was my first time eating at Jeff Ruby. The service was superb, waiters were attentive to our needs; just top notch.
