Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse - Louisville Ratings and Reviews
This was our first time to Jeff Ruby's based on recommendations of friends. Overall, we had a nice experience. Since we're avoiding carbs, we started off with some salmon sashimi - pieces were large, texture was good but did have a hint of "fishiness" compared to our usual sushi restaurants (I know this is a steak place but if they're going to also serve sushi it should be rated accordingly). I had the Cowboy ribeye while my wife had one of the filet migons. Ordered mine medium - steak temperature was fine but tasted was overridden by a burnt taste from too much char. My wife ordered hers rare and she loved it. I tried it for comparison and you could taste the seasoning versus mine which literally was a burnt crust. Would we go back? Yeah, probably but not for awhile and for a special occasion because if I'm going to spend $70 on a steak I want to taste it.
As always, excellent food and services. Only complaint is the noise level, for some reason we always end up sitting next to several tables of loud, obnoxious people who insist on making sure the whole restaurant hears their conversations. Oh well, ‘‘tis the season I guess
From the moment we stepped into Jeff Ruby's on our date night, we felt welcomed. The host was very friendly and our server, Jimette, came to the table immediately to introduce herself. My husband ordered a bourbon and Jimette told us her favorites on the menu. Since it was our first visit, we had already looked at the menu online. Our "must haves" were the Godfather sushi roll and steaks. From that point on we took all of Jimette's suggestions and we're glad that we did! Everything was perfect! Even my Old Fashioned with Angels Envy Rye was amazing. We shared the sushi, macaroni and cheese and mushrooms to go with the filet and cowboy steak. Fantastic! To top it off the carrot cake was the best we've ever had.
Been here four times. First three times were amazing. This time not so great sushi roll was okay. Steak was not hot it was just warm like it sat on the counter for a bit. And server did not check on us much. I wanted another glass of wine with the food but the server didn’t come back until we were almost done. We should have sent the steaks back. Oh well. Next time.
It was a fun place, but so expensive. Frankly, the meat wasn’t that great. I had the filet and it was raw. I asked for medium rare. My friends both had strip steak and that was nothing special. The asparagus and spinach were good. The bread was excellent. The server was very good
I love this place!! We always eat here when at the Galt House for a conference - a nice treat. If you can sit in the lounge area so you can enjoy the piano bar. Jeff Ruby’s steaks are nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. Add the amazing Mac and Cheese and your meal is complete.
We visited Jeff Ruby's over the weekend before catching a show at the YUM center. We made our reservation a few month's in advance (which I highly recommend). They were completely booked on the Monday evening. The atmosphere is awesome...sort of retro with cozy couch like booths and chandeliers. We had the Godfather Roll as an appetizer and it was wonderful. I tried the Japenese Wagyu and it was totally worth the splurge. My husband tried the filet and he said it was the best he had ever had. We shared generious sides of mashed potatoes and mushrooms and they were fantastic as well. We were too stuffed to try any dessert but everything we saw looked delicious! We will return next time we visit Louisville. I highly recommend Jeff Ruby's.
