Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse - Louisville
Jeff Ruby regulars will be pleased to know that their favorite signature items from the Cincinnati restaurants will be well represented in Louisville. The bone-in filet, the 7 cheese baked macaroni, creamed spinach, truffle flake, & of course Jeff Ruby's secret recipe cheesecake are all staples of the Louisville menu.
Styled after the great NY steakhouses of the 1930s & '40s, Jeff Ruby's promises to be as pleasing visually as it is to the palate. French art-deco design, plush mohair upholstery, hand-selected antique furniture, and cinematic crystal chandeliers anchored by a 1950s-era antique are featured in the Starz series Magic City and the 32-foot wall of wine.
Steak & Lobster
12 oz Cold Water Lobster Tail, 8 oz Filet Mignon
22 oz 70-Day Dry Aged Bone-In Ribeye
8 oz Filet, King Crab, Asparagus, Bordelaise, Béarnaise
Although expensive, the steak was excellent and the Mac and cheese was out of this world. Service was on another level compared to other restaurants.
The food, atmosphere and service was outstanding. Wine, cocktail and bourbon list was extensive. I recommend this restaurant.
Food was delicious. Waitress was good but not personable. Wanted us in and out. When I’m spending a lot of money for dinner, I like to experience it and not be rushed.
Celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary! Phenomenal food and exceptional service.
20th Wedding Anniversary celebration and everything was great as always
We had an amazing time! Food and staff were amazing! So glad we made reservations for this place.
Not super crazy about the table selection it’s a 1/2 bench 1/2 high chair table but our server was spot on and very prompt. If been here several times and other JR locations we were all very happy, even with the table issues
Our server was very good! Food was prepared perfectly.
First time visitor - went there for my wife's 55th birthday. The food was VERY good. Everything tasted great. Service was a bit sketchy at first. It took a few minutes after sitting down to get a water, and then longer to get our drink order. This surprised me given the reputation of the restaurant. After that, the service was very good.
Quite pricy. For only three of us, our bill was $425+tip. We each had two alcoholic beverages, one appetizer split by three of us, three entrees with one side each, and two desserts. This is a basic meal without going too overboard.
Value? I don't think so. I can honestly say I could have gone to Texas Roadhouse with food that is very similar and the cost would have been a fraction of what we paid.
I give this a 4-star rating as it was a great night with great food and good service. But, I could not recommend this to a friend unless they had money to burn. I'd rather suggest they eat a comparable meal at their favorite steakhouse and save themselves $300.
John provided excellent service ensuring our dining experience was outstanding. His assistant Joshua was equally attentive. The manager Christian stopped by for a chat to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Looking forward to dining at Ruby’s again in the near future.
Dinner Sunday night was great. Brought my grandson to celebrate his H. S. graduation. Everything was delicious. Our waiter did a great job. Thank you for making his night special. 👍👍👍
Amazing! Would highly recommend for a special occasion!
Service was exceptional and food fabulous
Great food and great service by the staff.
Fabulous food and impeccable service. The tiger shrimp were perfectly cooked, with that spicy cocktail sauce, great! My steak was more rare than I like. I order medium, but the center was red. My husband likes it that way so I ate the cooked outer portion and he ate the inside. Had the strawberry shortcake for dessert and it was great, and unusual. It was homemade strawberry icecream, a large frozen mound of it, rolled in shortcake all around, with whipped cream on top. Looked unusual but when you ate it, it tasted just like strawberry shorcake...even though you can't see the cake! Yum! Always a good meal!
Jeff Ruby’s has been consistently one of our favorite “special occasion” restaurants. Unfortunately, COVID put a stop to all restaurant-going in our family. So our first visit to Jeff Ruby’s after more than a year and a half, we were a bit concerned to see if the Jeff Ruby experience had made it through the quarantine times with the ability to hold on to that quality dining experience. Well the answer is yes, Jeff Ruby’s served excellent appetizers, salads, main courses from steak to fish and lobster, and drinks and dessert. Our serving staff was polite, fast, business-like, but Kentucky friendly. If I were Jeff Ruby himself, I would be very pleased with the crew I’ve entrusted my name to.
It was wonderful! Expensive, but all in all great!
Great experience! Great service, great food. Love the atmosphere.
Excellent as always!
Sara is one of the best, quality food, professional service!
We have been to Jeff Ruby's Louisville a number of times. And we are never disappointed. Food, service, and ambience were outstanding.
Always an excellent experience especially with Adrian as our server. The manager Tony is also a great asset assuring a great meal.
Perfect as usual! Thank you!
First time there! Loved everything about it! Would love to go back!
Service was excellent. Pretty pricey we thought. We had a gift card so probably would not return. Only for a very special occasion
Always great! One of my favorites
Excellent service, they made sure everything was perfect. Food was very good. Unsure if worth the price, but certainly good.
Anniversary dinner that was truly exceptional from beginning to end!!!
Amazing food and service. High end yet causal and inviting. Don’t be afraid of the menu prices. Servings are a good size and it’s all incredible
The service from our server was excellent and the restaurant is beautiful, but the food, with the exception of the steak and bread, was awful. I was served two oysters that were bad and the manager seemed to doubt me. I believe if the raw bar would have made more of an effort to disconnect the oyster from the shell they would have felt the bad oyster and certainly could have smelled it if not for the mask. Also, the salad was overdressed and soggy as though it was sitting in a warm kitchen. Overall, I expected so much more.
The food and service was outstanding! We even received a free dessert for our anniversary
Birthday celebration took our friend for the 1st time she loved it. The service & food was exceptional.
It was nice to see they were back to impeccable service and food after having to make adjustments for covid. Everything about the evening was perfect.
Great anniversary dinner. This was a perfect dining experience. You won’t find better in Louisville.
Loved the food, waiter was outstanding. Disappointed with a couple of our side dish choices. But overall this is the go to date night spot for me and my wife. Hands down best steakhouse in Kentucky. I ordered the Sea Bass instead of my usual steak. I was not disappointed! We will return again and again!
Every person we met was polite, welcoming and helpful, including the Valet.
Our Server, Brittany, was attentive and anticipated our needs.
We asked for our Salmon to be well done: it was cooked just the way we like it.
A very pleasant and enjoyable experience!
We always have a pleasant visit, amazing staff and great food!
I always have a great experience at Jeff Ruby's. The only criticism I might have was I ordered mashed potatoes and they were just OK. Also ordered the chocolate cake and it was just OK, The fries were just OK. The chicken was fantastic and the steak was perfect.
Outstanding experience from the reservation to the bill paying. Top shelf all the way.
Matthew, whom reached out a few days before our reservation just did an excellent job. Set us up for an exceptional dining experience.
Well done to all.
