Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse - Louisville
Jeff Ruby regulars will be pleased to know that their favorite signature items from the Cincinnati restaurants will be well represented in Louisville. The bone-in filet, the 7 cheese baked macaroni, creamed spinach, truffle flake creamed corn, & of course Jeff Ruby's secret recipe cheesecake will all be staples of the Louisville menu.
Styled after the great NY steakhouses of the 1930's & 40's, Jeff Ruby's promises to be as pleasing visually as it is to the palate. French art-deco design, plush mohair upholstery, hand selected antique furniture and cinematic crystal chandeliers anchored by a 1950s-era antique featured in the Starz series Magic City and the 32 foot wall of wine.
The staff, always friendly!!!!! The ambiance is a wonderful nostalgic restaurant!!!!
Food always delicious, be back again and again!!
Food was generally good, the steaks were fantastic, the desserts were meh. Had some trouble with champagne and wine selection (didn't have, wrong year) but made up for the confusion by comping a bottle. The place was full up on a Friday night, and the patrons seemed happy. Overall, a very pleasant experience.
I have been scheduling business dinners at Jeff Ruby since they opened in Louisville. The staff are amazing at making my business associates and guest feel like they have known them for years.....with very personal acknowledgments. They always welcome me back as if I were a VIP.....hard to get that from other places.
And, the music is always a hit.
Very noisy, almost unbearable. Food was good as always.
Outstanding food similar to Gibson’s in Chicago. Great steaks outstanding service. Was louder than we liked
I was disappointed in the attire that walked in. Tshirts and flip flops. The noise was very loud, could hardly hear the waitresses and assistants. Food was fabulous!!
Always an outstanding experience!
Great food - great staff. Our favorite Louisville restaurant!
Always awesome service and food! Great that it is open late.
Everything was amazing and it was a fantastic first experience. I wish the amount of food matched the value, but the taste made up for it! The steaks and the sea bass were splendid.
The food and service was superb. We had the best steaks that we had ever eaten.
We waited for what seemed forever. The food was good but we could have got a steak that would have been just as good if not better at Texas Roadhouse. My wife ordered her steak medium well and it definitely came out well done. The restaurant was packed and very loud. It was very hard to communicate without yelling. Save your money and go elsewhere. I’m not trying to take away from the restaurant just giving my honest opinion.
From another restaurant owner, I truly value the hard work and effort the Juff Rubys team puts in to make this place the best place to eat in the city
Very enjoyable meal. Our waiter was excellent and providing us with information on the items in the menu. Both mine and my wife’s they were cooked to perfection and very delicious.
We came there for my husband's birthday. It was my first time there, as he had been there before and had been wanting to return. He loved the surprise and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I am not a steak eater, but LOVED my steak. Our server John (I believe that was his name), was really great. We will return again.
Excellent food, excellent service. We really enjoyed the burbon district dessert.
A fantastic night! Superb in every way. We can’t wait to visit Jeff Ruby’s again.
As good a steak dinner as I’ve had anywhere, including Gibson’s in Chicago and the Mason St Grille in Milwaukee. Add the live music and Jeff Ruby’s is IT!
Went to Jeff Ruby's for the first time. Walked in and it was quite loud in the front, but our table was in a back room so the room was significantly quieter. The service as well as the food was top notch. Highly recommend this place.
Great food and service the room is very loud
I Invited clients to dinner at Jeff Ruby’s. They were very busy and it was extremely loud. It was very hard to hear anyone at our table of 6 other than the person to each side of us. Service was rather slow. the bone-in ribeye I ordered was slightly tough (I didn’t know this was possible with that cut of meat). Overall, I was disappointed. The previous time I went there, it had been spot on, thus surprising me.
As our first time visiting Jeff Ruby's we found it to be very nice. The food and service we're amazing. The steaks were cooked perfect and I was totally amazed with our waiter Joshua. We couldn't have asked for a better night out. We will return again real soon. Thanks Jeff Ruby.
BEST steakhouse I've ver been to. Amazing is the only way I can describe the experience. I had a large group of important clients with me and each and every one LOVED the dining experience. Treat yourself to delicious steak and great service. And go for the dessert...no matter how full you feel. It's too good to pass up!
Another great experience at Jeff Ruby’s. Food (filet and Chilean sea bass) and service (Paul and Alex) were outstanding. Costs still a little on the pricey side even for a high-end steakhouse. Noise was slightly elevated due to the next table being occupied by very enthusiastic businessmen celebrating something big. We will be back!
Service was impeccable. Food was delicious. Ambiance was a nice elegance. Menu had great options.
This was by far the penultimate experience here in Kentucky from a gastronomic experience. I had dinner with my son as the last leg of a birthday weekend for me and what a pleasure to dine here after a full day on the bourbon trail
The start was presented by expertise with Jill and John as servers who manifested only professionalism and pose. John recommended much but we started with private stock makers mark blend which was superb bourbon
I had Alaskan king crab and a seared scallops with bacon jam over Brussels sprout and cauliflower which was amazing. The sweetness of the scallop was not overwhelmed by the sauce but was punctuated perfectly
Our steaks for my son and I were perfectly seated filet mignon with a heavenly savory and salty crust provided by their seasoning blend managed in duo with an herb lobster tail for me
Needless to say the butter and sour dough bread which was accompaniment served as a perfect foil to soak up the delicious steak juices from the platter
No dessert but a silver oak Cabernet 2015 served to end my meal perfectly from its inception
Capital grille at which I eat mostly on the east coast can learn much from this restaurantb
Waiter perfect. Worth coming back to have him as our waiter again. Food and ambiance excellent .
The filet was so tender it could be cut with a fork. Jeff Ruby's has the best filet I have ever had at a restaurant. The desserts tasted like they were made from scratch like my grandmother had prepared them in her kitchen.
Our host of waiters (Nick) was awesome!! Great personality, great recommendations!! The band was playing just overall great!! I have had better steak but not better steak with better ambiance!!
My husband took me here for my birthday, and it was spectacular. Our server was great. The manager, Tony Shaw, was very visible and friendly, even offering his card to us, should we have any questions. The music was superb, making this a great evening. Bravo to Jeff Ruby’s!
I took the family here to celebrate my daughter’s 14th birthday. The food was outstanding. My wife and I split a porterhouse with foie gras which was cooked to perfection and a bottle of E Guigal, French red wine. My kids both had filets. We shared two dinner salads, macaroni and cheese and asparagus. My daughter had the cheesecake for dessert and a gentlemen across the aisle shared a slice of his bourbon themed birthday cake. Everything was fabulous. The rub on their steaks is amazing with just enough saltiness . The salad is simple but delicious. The mac and cheese, reportedly with six cheeses, may be the best I’ve ever tasted. The cheesecake was surprisingly light but, like everything, had a great flavor.
Our server, Andre, was the perfect amount of attentive, especially with the birthday girl.
The only slight detractor to the evening was the high noise level when we first arrived. However, after a couple tables emptied of earlier diners and, ironically, the band started, then it was more pleasant.
In case you are wondering if a 16-year old can truly enjoy a fine steak, see the photo.
Amazing as always.
Update: I was very impressed to receive a personal call from Jeff Ruby’s wanting to know more about our visit and why we were not 100% satisfied. They strive for excellence and that is evident in their personal desire to make our next visit perfect...we will be back!
Original: The sushi, Caesar salad, filet mignon and Brussels sprouts were outstanding! Ribeye was quite fatty but seasoned and cooked perfectly. The noise level in this restaurant is so intense that we could not carry on a conversation around our table with our group of 5. I really hated that as it was a time to celebrate with our daughters. Our server was nice and knowledgeable but slow and we ended up staying much later than we had anticipated. We may return but with so many excellent restaurants in Louisville we will give a few others a try first.
Great food and exceptional service. We went for a special occasion and already plan to go back.
January was awesome!
Excellent anniversary dinner. Steaks were perfect. Great place for special celebrations.
The food was incredible.
Steak was undergone then overdone
Awesome service and food was delectable!!
The best, most tender steak I’ve ever had! Wonderful servers and management. Looking forward to visiting again in the future
