The JH Inn is in a lovely, romantic Victorian home, a cozy spot for a quiet dinner. Our server Donna was attentive, friendly and efficient. My salmon was well prepared, but my husband’s strip steak was chewy and both the meat and smashed potatoes were overly salted, Maybe the kitchen staff had an off night, as everyone we talked to rated it well.
great people, good food and a lovely room.
Dinner was a little loud for me, I could not hear my wife talking.
This restaurant makes the best Duck on long Island by far. I always come here for just that . Service is great . Everything spectacular
Beautiful setting, private, warm and great art! Good food and cocktails. Love it.
Food was excellent, as we had hoped, but the service was not. Apart from one kind overworked server, the staff was rushed, grim and unfriendly, and made many mistakes in the rush(forgot bread, late with plates for shared salad, forgot cream for coffee, forgot second spoon for shared dessert, etc). Humorously memorable dining.
Food is always good as well as ambiance. Our two waitresses who were running around doing a great job had to handle a party in the atrium, a group in the cellar and people in both dining rooms. Since you probably knew about these two groups beforehand it would have been prudent to have another server. The busgirl did nothing.
She just walked around. Bravo to the two servers and their excellent attitudes and sense of urgency!!!
Food was great. But dinner felt rushed. Starter was on the table 5 minutes after ordering. 10 minutes later the main course came. In between the bread basket. Did not make a nice experience overall.
The new chef has created a great selection of dinner options. It was hard to choose. Definitely a great stop in the North Fork
Unique venue for dining. Many areas to choose. Outdoor, several quaint indoor rooms, and speakeasy. All entrees ordered during our visit were each well presented and cooked to our satisfaction. Service was outstanding.
Service and food were excellent!!!!! The tuna appetizer was ridiculously good. The entrees were delicious. We were very impressed!
We LOVE the Inn. Absolutely a Beautiful place to stay. Rooms are gorgeous, food is amazing. I would highly recommend staying here. Can’t wait to go back 😃
Solid service and excellent quality food. Portions were appropriate for a dinner. The cocktails and beverages were solid as well. Highly recommend. We ate outside on the porch- there is also a patio which has nice ambience as well.
Wonderful with excellent wait staff. The menu choices were healthy and the dished presentation was beautiful. We ate in the garden on a lovely day that highlighted the dinner. Highly recommended.
Beautiful spot, service was impeccable with great timing in between courses. Appetizers consisted of tuna tartar,Flat bread and the peach salad. Each one of us had a different entree. The Short Rib dish was outstanding with fresh corn, potatoes and lima beans one of the best Ive ever had. My wife had the Halibut and at one point she said I wish I could lick the plate. Outstanding. Unfortunately I never had a taste! Ha,ha. Our son and daughter-in-law had the chicken and the Duck both said it was outstanding. Wine selection was excellent and they make a great Martini.
Im sorry that I don't remember our waitresses name but she was outstanding considering how busy she was. All the staff were very attentive could not as for anything more. Almost forgot the desert. Fresh Peach Crisp. Delicious!
Very nice overall experience. Great place for a date. Food was excellent
Food ordered was very good. Our server was excellent. The bar order needed improvement. No Canadian whisky! Been there in the past many times. Would go back but not for a while. Ps no table cloths on the tables and I really dislike that.
One of our absolute favorite places! Our server, Donna, is amazing and we are always so happy to see her. It was a beautiful evening.
Asked for a table outside. Told no. Subsequent diners were seated outside, however, and the outdoor tables never filled. Service was cheerful but courses took years, seemingly, to be served. Food okay, not exceptional. Not eager to return.
EXCELLENT PLACE ON THE NORTH FORK FOR A LOVELY DINNER IN A BEAUTIFUL VICTORIAN HOME
OUR MEAL WAS EXCELLENT AS WAS THE SERVICE
Food was terrifically prepared.
A perfect dining experience.
great outside courtyard.food was fine.we had duck, chicken and pasta and all was really prepared well.Servers were so nice and explained everything.Big sign to wear a mask but was not necessary as we were all vacinated. Very nice wine list with local wines represented.
Lovely, charming outdoor seating, delicious food, and excellent service. Highly recommend.
This is the 6th time I’ve come for dinner here, and by far my most disappointing. Perhaps just an off night for the chef. But I will return...and hope for the best.
Arrived and were seated immediately outdoors as we had asked. Server was on the spot for water and cocktails, which arrived quickly. The complimentary bread service didn’t arrive until appetizers were served, not a big deal. Food was excellent as to JHI reputation.
The ambiance and noise level ratings were entirely related to a youthful fellow dining couple who decided to bring their young dog to dinner with them. The dog was shortly bored and started barking in 10 minutes, about 2/3 through our dinner, with the owners shushing the dog repeatedly to no avail, as experienced owners know dogs don’t understand “shush”.
I don’t know if they were Inn guests or just there for dinner, but I would think ownership/management would have a policy similar to most dining establishments in NYS regarding the presence of non-service, pet dogs in a food establishment regardless of indoor/outdoor dining. Needless to say the ambiance was sorely impacted.
Loved, loved, loved this restaurant. Absolutely beautiful inside and out! Beautiful grounds, beautiful house. Service was impeccable. Food amazing! Highly recommend.
Our favorite place on the NOFO, food and service were, as always, impeccable. Thank you for another great meal.
Superb! Have service was excellent! Atomsphere was great for special occasions.
Service needed improvement. Food was catering hall level. Requested a table in an area with better lighting and was denied even though tables remained open in that area throughout the time we were there.
This is what a restaurant on the North Fork should be like. Quaint, feels homey, yet everything is elevated. Service and food was great.
Such a great meal and a wonderful evening!
Amazing restaurant. Loved the ambiance and food was delicious
Beautiful building, but the food was rather lackluster. Service was adequate. The potential is there but it was not realized at our visit.
The food was absolutely amazing. Really wish the service hadn’t spoiled the occasion. Next time we’re in the area maybe we should get take out so we can truly appreciate how delicious the food is.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary. Our server was very attentive and courteous. Our food was delicious. It helped make our anniversary special.
It was our first time eating at Jedediah Hawkins, but we will definitely go back. We chose to eat al fresco and it was the perfect evening to be outdoors. EveryTcourse arrived perfectly cooked and in good time. My halibut was delicious and my husband's skirt steak was equally wonderful with a good char flavor. The ambiance was low key but not too quiet! All in all a lovely evening. Oh, and it was our anniversary and they served us a glass of bubbly on the house. What a nice gesture!
Farm to ta Le food, amazing cocktails that are fresh, dessert to die for. The outside settings are beautiful as well. We will be back!
Well done as usual.,
We had made reservations for our anniversary. When we arrived we noticed it was surprisingly empty for a Friday night. We later found out that JH had a wedding in the barn for 80+ people yet they honored our reservation (they had simply stopped taking reservations but did not cancel ours). Add on the complimentary champagne, our incredible meal, the wonderful service with our dessert in the speakeasy and it was a magical night. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
food is very good. service is very good.
we have eaten here a few times but think that the ambiance does not equal the food. The Inn is beautiful from the outside but inside is average if not boring.
