Jeanne D'Arc is an elegant yet reasonably priced French restaurant located near Nob Hill and Union Square in the Cornell Hotel de France. Replete with tapestries, stained glass and artifacts, the decor celebrates the life and deeds of France's legendary heroine, Joan of Arc.
Founded by the Lambert family in 1972, the restaurant is a favorite of locals and visitors. Jeanne D'Arc offers a prix fixe menu and a cellar of well chosen California and Frence wines. The restaurant is perfect for before-curtain supper, a gathering of good friends, or romance with conversation.

Here is an authentic French restaurant hidden away in the basement of an old San Francisco hotel. There is a prix fix but many choices and a nice wine list, fine service and good pacing. Good food and the gran marnier souffle is worth waiting for! We will return!

Fantastic Valentines dinner with live music. So much fun and so romantic. The best kept secret in San Francisco for sure. We will be back every Valentines Day from now on.

Friendly service by all the waitors and waitresses. Nicely done dishes although the courses are a little bit too salty. And the desert a little bit too sweet.
Such a cute quaint restaurant in a beautiful boutique hotel. The food was an amazing culinary experience! Service couldn’t be better. Defiantly we will go back again.
No doubt a very authentic cuisine française restaurant. I had the duck breast with a fruity sauce that was sweet and sour, and very delicious. The wife ordered an amazing rabbit cooked to tenderness with a wine sauce. The soufflé was outstanding and went very well with the black coffee, which was delicious all by itself.
Truly a hidden gem, as it's located in the hotel's basement. Reservations are a must, as waiting by the stairs is not a fun experience. The decor is very charming, with lots of medieval paintings and statues adorning the walls. All in all, a lovely experience.

We've dined twice at Jeanne D'Arc. Once during SF Restaurant Week and another time during a regular weeknight. Both times the food and service were excellent! You must try their escargot and soufflé -- c'est magnifique!
It's an odd space in the basement of an older hotel. the food was excellent. Wine list a short and first choice not available. Waiter knew less about wine than me which means not much at all. A white. French chard was served pretty warm with no ice bucket. Wasn't optimal. Prix fixe meal was very very tasty though.I

This is 4-star dining at 2-star prices. French countryside cuisine. We started with a Sancerre that was ... early spring... no other way to describe it. Lovely with first courses. Main course ducks were prepared to perfection. (How do you make duck breast light?!) Excellent with the Chateau Neuf de Pape. So wanted to try the soufflé, but failed to save the tiniest space.

We so wanted to love this restaurant but unfortunately it only rose to the level of "like." The atmosphere is cute and cozy. You definitely feel you could be in a little bistro in France. The service was efficient and the prices were reasonable. If the food could just be elevated a little more this restaurant would be a great find. The first course is a potato leek soup. It was ok but not worth finishing. My husband really enjoyed his avocado, shrimp and mango salad. It was more successful than my spinach salad. My salad was pleasant but nothing special. I thought that my husband's salmon, though well cooked, lacked flavor. My coquilles (shrimp and scallops) were tasty and had more flavor than the salmon, but were not exciting. We had the grand mariner souflee for dessert. It wasn't the best souffle I have ever eaten, but it was very good. This was a good but not memorable reasonably priced meal.

There for SF Restaurant Week. Their menu for SF Restaurant Week were very good, unfortunately they ran out of the rabbit (Lapin Chasseur) by the time we arrived for our reservation that evening. We still had a great meal, the escargots and Souffle were outstanding. Definitely have been wanting go in past years, but was unable to get reservation that worked, but glad we finally made it, worth the wait. Will be back!
Can’t say enough good things about this restaurant! It was absolutely delicious! The service was great. We were there for restaurant week & it was wonderful. We didn’t enjoy one of our desserts so our wonderfully sweet waiter gave us the wonderful chocolate mousse instead & we didn’t even ask for it- he offered! The soufflé is NOT to be missed. One of best I’ve ever had. I could’ve eaten three all to myself! I had the rabbit which was moist, tasty & well cooked. The scalloped potatoes were terrific as well. Not to mention the affordable bottle of bubbles. All was wonderful!!
As always, Jeanne D'arc did not disappoint. With the prixe fixe menu, and there being four of us, we were able to try out a variety of dishes. The soup and salad were familiar and comfortable like home cooking. We enjoyed the filet mignon, the lamb shank, loin of lamb and especially, the rabbit. And, we didn't leave a single crumb of the souffles, chocolate mousse and raspberry cake. And, the wine list had some very good wines, at very reasonable prices.
The service was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. But, most definitely, most impressive was the decor. As I alerted my dining companions beforehand, be prepared to visit Sleeping Beauty's castle.
Basement restaurant with great atmosphere - heavy wood beams, faux stone, stained glass, and a statue of Jeanne D'Arc in her armor watching you dine. We went during SF Restaurant Week and the fixed price menu had interesting choices. The shrimp, mango & avocado salad was quite good and a pleasant change from a traditional salad. My wife tried the halibut and I had the short ribs in red wine sauce. Both were excellent. For desert we had chocolate mousse and a fruit tart but we promised to try the souffle on our next visit.
Our server was amazing! We went to Jeanne D'Arc during SF restaurant week and their menu is priced fairly well with all the food and drinks we got. Would go back on a regular night and try out other dishes as well.
This was our second time going to Restaurant Jeanne d’Arc for a special occasion, last year for valentine’s day, this year for a birthday. Jeanne d’Arc is uniquely sweet, with an eclectic old world charm, genuinely warm host and wait staff, and a pre fix menu that is finely prepared yet down to earth. This isn’t the place to go for San Francisco’s newest/cutting edge fare. It’s just really good food and really good service in an atmosphere that makes you smile.
Came here for restaurant week. Was very very good. The only downside is how quick the food came. Both my friend and I were still working on soup and the appertizer s came, working on appertizer s and the main dish were ready. We had to have the server send the food back to the kitchen.
But still I felt rushed as we didn't want our min sitting under the heated lamp and get dried. I've never complete a four course french meal within an hr!!

The escargot was awesome! I also loved the pearl cake because it was light and fluffy.
This is a very special place with authentic French food and ambiance. The hosts and waitstaff are very concerned about your happiness during the meal. The prices -- for what it is -- are quite reasonable, perhaps even low. The soup, escargot, beef filet, salad and dessert were all excellent. The duck we would put in the 'edible-to-good' category (we know our ducks).
This restaurant -- and we were first-time diners -- is highly recommended and very memorable.
