Jeanne D'Arc - Cornell Hotel De France Ratings and Reviews
Have been coming here for many many years (since I moved to SF in 1975) and it is consistently wonderful and food is always great. Love to come here with friends and of course bring out of town guests for a treat. Have never been disappointed. Love the unique atmosphere and decor; it is warm and inviting.
The whole menu is fixed price and you get a wonderful meal for such a reasonable price. We were surprised it is not busier. All the courses and meals were great. We had a wide range... haddock, osso bucco, steak and shrimp/scallops. The recommended wine went with the food perfectly. Desert souffle were awesome and not to be missed. Service was good. A great meal.
Probably the best meal we four Brits had in three weeks touring California, Nevada and Arizona. Quiet relaxed elegant French restaurant, delicious, varied and well-cooked 4 course prix fixee menu (several choices each course ) and extensive wine menu. Good value, excellent service; violinist (Saturday night)
Lovely restaurant set in the basement of the hotel.
I had the lamb which was 5/5 and my partner had the beef Bourguignon which he rated as 3/5 so overall we marked it 4/5
Slightly disappointed at the desert, many people have reported it as amazing but the soufflé was short of that.
Lovely service and a charming manager
We would definitely go back and recommend it to have dinner.
This place is a Hidden Treasure! The food was amazing from presentation to the last bite. Whimsical atmosphere and great for tables of 2 to 20. Wonderful staff and the chef wanders the dining room to speak with guests / very appreciated. The menu makes it easy to create a fabulous dining experience. We'll be back!!!
If there were more than 5-stars, this restaurant would get them. Prix Fixe - 4 course meal - French cuisine for the American palette. My favorite item is the Grand Marnier Souffle. Best dessert anywhere. Wonderful wine list with reasonable prices. Lower level of the Cornell Hotel De France.
We felt like we descended into the heart of a restaurant in the middle ages of Paris. The decor is medieval and feels like a hidden cavern with the entry arches and the images of Warrior Jeanne. Eve was a wonderful server who was very attentive. Value is terrific for four beautifully plated courses. It feels like a secret dining spot for both locals and tourists. We live close by and will definitely be back.
Absolutely charming! Family owned & operated, authentically French, we had the most delightful dining experience. The owners came by each table to visit and chat a bit, and so did the chef, who grew the heirloom tomatoes for our salad in his own garden. He was glad we had ordered the grand marnier souffle, which he was especially proud of. Oh my word -- I've never had a souffle so divine! The violinist was a nice touch too. What a perfect night!!!
Wonderful experience at the Jeanne D'Arc this past weekend. The atmosphere, staff and service were all 5 star. The Pre Fix Meal was incredible. From Soup to Dessert presentation and taste were excellent. This was our first time at Jeanne D'Arc, but will not be our last when visiting the San Francisco area again. This place, as many have quoted, is a Hidden Gem in the City. Thanks to the Staff and Management for making this a very memorable experience.
Excellent food, excellent service and quiet! Those are the three things we look for in a restaurant. The ambience reminded us of many restaurants in France we have dined in. The menu had many excellent choices and it was not overpriced. I just wish it was in Los Gatos and not in SF. But we will return.
Excellent experience. Such a fun environment. Very detailed and beautiful. Food was great. All fresh. 4 different meals and all excellent. Good French wine selection. Highly recommend the soufflé dessert and the escargot. Our server Roberto did a great job.
Dan, our server was great. Excellent value wine list particularly given SF, souflet was phenomenal, soup, shrimp salad, escargot excellent, goat cheese salad excellent, potatoes and green beans excellent. Carrots on all 4 dishes overcooked...mushy, and all entrees overcooked...halibut, veal, and NY Steak. You really need to get a handle on this because your restaurant is beautiful.
Delicious food, excellent service and very French decor (felt like we were in France for a few hours). We enjoyed it very much and highly recommend it. Good selection of dishes for appetizer and entrees (we had the duck, rack of lamb & boeuf bourguignon - all were fantastic).
Love love LOVE!! This place was a definite highlight of our Anniversary Weekend Adventure! From the decor...ambiance (violinist) walked around playing all night...to the amazing service and we can't forget the food!!
Wife had the heirloom tomato salad with mozzarella...she said she didn't think it was even possible to make tomatoes taste as good as hers was! I had the foie gras (served cold) with figs and arugula...WOW! Never had it served cold before and it was so tasty! Our waiter even brought out some sweet wine for me to have with it as well which matched perfectly ...for the mains the wife had the beef bourguignon and her eyes lit up at her first bite! She loved it! I got the Lapin (Rabbit)...it was hands down the BEST rabbit dish I've had...perfectly cooked and covered in beautifully delicious sauce...it was hard for me NOT to lick the plate haha...our sides were potato au gratin...haricot vert...and seasonal veggies...all perfectly done but the creamy potatoes were our favorite! Of course we ended our meal with the soufflé and coffees...people weren't joking on how amazing the soufflé is...and the coffee! Yum...dark and flavorful...a hidden gem in a city full of restaurants...but it ended up being one of my favorite dining experiences ever so far! We came here for our 6th Wedding Anniversary and we will definitely be back again on our next San Francisco trip...I'm hoping to make it a habit, flying here from Hawaii is expensive...but getting to eat at Restaurant Jeanne D'Arc will make it worthwhile!!! Mahalo Nui Loa (Hawaiian for THANK YOU VERY MUCH!) for being part of our 6th Wedding Anniversary Adventure...Philip & Maile Riel, 08/05/17, 7pm Reservations
My wife and I dined at Jeanne D'Arc for our 15th anniversary, on our last night in San Francisco. We've always loved French cuisine, and we chose this restaurant based on excellent online reviews. We were delighted to find these reviews to be accurate. We haven't had beef bourguignon like that since we visited Paris. Wonderful sauce! And the Grand Marnier soufflé was delicious. The atmosphere was beautiful, full of medieval art and architecture. There was a large group dining near us which may have made the place noisy, but I'm willing to believe that it might've been a fluke. Overall, highly reccommended. It's the only French restaurant we visited in the City, but I'm doubtful that there's a better one than Jeanne D'Arc. Merci!
