We had a most enjoyable evening here. The food was excellent and we'll probably, and the wine list was both well suited to the menu and refreshingly well priced. The service was friendly, entertaining, and precise.

We have enjoyed this restaurant several times previously and will again. Truly an opportunity to be transported in mind to France. This New Year's Eve event was "magnifique". Best lobster bisque ever. The escargot were scrumptious. The halibut and duck entrees were done to perfection. And of course we ended with one of the house specialties - - Grande Marnier soufflé. All accompanied by a Nuits St George burgundy and wonderful musical entertainment. Kudos to the two tenors.

Great French food in a fantastic, cozy setting... like stepping into a painting. On Sat. nights and special occasions, there is live music. It's a fixed price menu and worth every penny. They have a nice (and not too expensive) wine list too. We were there New Year's Eve, which is is truly special. Wonderful restaurant.

As a native San Franciscan, I am quite stunned that I had never eaten at this place! After reading several recent reviews and hearing from some acquaintances about the restaurant,we decided to try it for ourselves. Quite a delightful surprise. Tucked away in the basement of a downtown hotel, the place has charm and elegance. The wait staff was efficient and infomotive. The food was terrific. Will definitely try again.

We had a prix fixe New Year's eve meal. All dishes were well curated and superb. The choices were amazingly extensive, favoring complicated country dishes. The price of a four course meal (including souffle, if you chose it) was $52 ... unbelievable. I've been to Paris many times and this place transported me back.

Jeanne D'Arc is a wonderful find. It's like being transported to France and while not cheap, it's a bargain for what it delivers.

This restaurant in the basement of a hotel is decorated like a dungeon, with lots of statues of Jeanne d'Arc, as is fitting. The decor means this is not stuffy at all, despite the fairly high-quality traditional French cuisine. I would say in fact that is is fun. The neighborhood may seem a bit sketchy, with a gay strip club next door, though I thought that rather added to the interesting ambiance.

At around $50 the four course prix-fixe menu felt like a bargain - soup, entree, main course and dessert with lots of choice. The escargots (6) were quite good, the noisettes d'agneau perfectly prepared, and grand mariner soufflé was excellent. I would definitely go back for a special occasion.

We had a lovely evening at Jeanne D’Arc - great service, delicious food (do try the soufflé for dessert) and wonderful wines to accompany our meal. The restaurant is set in the lower level of the hotel and getting to it seems a bit odd, but once you enter the dining room you will forget all about the journey that got you there! Highly recommended for a special occasion.

Classic French cuisine in the most delightful dining room. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The prix fixe menu offers enough choices for each course. Love the escargot, shrimp, mango and avocado salad, lamb loin, rabbit, beef Bourgogne, soufflé and berry tart. Our server was attentive and friendly.

For my birthday dinner, I requested secluded seating & a banquette if possible, & was accommodated on both fronts with an ideal banquette in a charming part of the restaurant off the main room, which is very atmospheric, romantic & truly had an authentic French-restaurant-in-France vibe to me-a cozy, soothing ambiance. I requested Champagne be there on our arrival & there it was! Our waiter provided excellent service-attentive without hovering, cheerful but not to the point of obsequiousness. The prix-fixe menu a flawless rendition of classical French cuisine, which I thoroughly enjoyed. We began with a nice, well-seasoned cream of asparagus & leek soup, very welcome after walking the chilly streets of SF all afternoon. Next for me: an appetizer of escargots in the classic parsley garlic butter-delicious! My two guests enjoyed Tomato, Burrata & Basil salads. My Plat Principal - succulent lamb loin in wine sauce, accompanied by roasted baby veg & potatoes au gratin...SO GOOD!!! For dessert, two of us had the house specialty: Grand Marnier Soufflé. Again, a flawless rendition: delicate crust on the edge, & that wonderful familiar warm light, custardy center w/ its delicate kiss of liqueur. Our third enjoyed tiramisu, but looked longingly at our soufflés, never having tried one(!) Well, you’ll never guess what showed up at our table a few minutes later: a gratis soufflé for him! Such a lovely & kind gesture & very much appreciated! They definitely made a soufflé convert out of him! Another fun touch of the evening: the ambient Xmas music which brought back childhood favs like “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, the Chipmunks (once a year I can handle them :), & “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch!”, among some of the more classic parum-pa-pum-pum type carols. Anyway, I know one always tries one’s luck in any restaurants-they all have their good nights & their bad, & this night was that rare jewel of an experience where it’s all so wonderful you just do not want it to end!

Saturday, 12-09-2017... This was a magical evening. On this night I proposed marriage to the woman I love. She wanted French cuisine, and I discovered this hidden gem that she had never heard of; even though she is a native San Franciscan! We first spotted the entrance from across the street. It was specially lit for the Christmas holiday, and appeared like something out of a fairy tale.. Unique. Special. Beautiful. Inviting. We were greeted by Monsieur Lambert, the owner, himself. What a gracious and delightful gentleman! We were directed to the old world style elevator, which delivered us to the restaurant downstairs. Our quiet, secluded, romantic table (that I had requested) was everything I had hoped for.. perfect. The food was outstanding, and there was (thankfully) not a lot of background noise, so I was able to speak to, and listen to, my darling lady, quietly and confidentially. Our server, Roberto, was friendly, professional, experienced, knowledgeable, and helpful when it came to food and wine choices. He was also accommodating enough to take a picture of my lady and I together in our booth. All of the staff we encountered that night were wonderful! The rest room was the cleanest I think I've ever seen.. anywhere. The entire restaurant and hotel (what I saw of it) clearly reflected the pride of ownership and outstanding care of the Lambert Family. This is not a place for loud-music-loving youth. This is a place for true romantics who have the maturity to appreciate such a gem as this. When we left, I turned to my beloved and said to her, "From this night on, Jeanne d'Arc is OUR place." I cannot recommend this fine establishment highly enough.. It is five stars beyond "Excellent!"

The restaurant was charming and the food was delicious. However every wine I asked for had run out which was disappointing as the wine list was good. I felt a little rushed through the meal...there was no interval between courses and the bill was presented before we had an opportunity to order coffe. However a good find and I will be back

Very charming old-world atmosphere. The menu (while only being fixed price) was varied enough to satisfy almost anyone. Very French in its approach. The amount was good. And all the food was served piping hot. The desert (we had) was the Grand Marnier soufflé was outstanding. Wished I was able to try all the items on the menu.

We went there over the weekend for my anniversary. We tried both confit and lamb shrank along with salad(shrimp/avocado/mango). Soufflé as dessert !! Super FULL after the dinner. 🤗👍🏼
Not worth it to look for street parking. We just parked in parking lot on Bush ($1.5 per hour after 6pm) $4.5 for our visit

Definitely not the best meal I had while in San Francisco. Service was slow and it took about 15 minutes for me to even be acknowledged. My starter of soup was fine as was the heirloom tomato salad. My salmon dish was terrible. It was very over cooked and mushy. I almost returned it. By far the best part of the meal was the Gran Marnier soufflé. That alone was worth the price of the meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice but I doubt I would return given so many other good places to dine in the city.

Outstanding French cuisine in an eclectic and funky space in the basement of the Cornell Hotel De France. Equally impressive was the value ($52) for a four course meal that included one of the best souffles I've ever had.

From the soup (Potato Leek) to our appetizers of Shrimp, Avocado and Tomato Stack and the homemade Foie Gras($15 supplement and worth every penny), to our entrees of Pan Seared Halibut and Boeuf Bourguignon, everything was prepared to perfection and was incredible tasting. The wine list, while limited, also offered incredible value. They had a 2014 Trefethen Cabernet that I had at another restaurant in Scottsdale a couple of weeks earlier for $100 a bottle of just $48! And finishing dinner off with one of the best Soufflé au Grand Marnier anywhere (including Paris), was the exclamation point to this perfect meal.

If you like French food and getting it at an outstanding value (especially for San Francisco), then you have to go to Jeanne D'arc!

The best of French cuisine with a fixed price menu that’s a steal. We loved the escargot and the foie gras, the filet mignon was perfect and likewise the grand marnier soufflé. Our waiter, Lucas, was knowledgeable and friendly. The music’s very French but at least not intrusive whilst the decor is something of a shrine to Joan of Arc. We loved it for delivering a great food experience without any trendy gimmicks.
