Jeanne D'Arc - Cornell Hotel De France
Founded by the Lambert family in 1972, the restaurant is a favorite of locals and visitors. Jeanne D'Arc offers a prix fixe menu and a cellar of well chosen California and French wines. The restaurant is perfect for before-curtain supper, a gathering of good friends, or romance with conversation.

I write as one who lived in France for many years. This restaurant seemed like an approximate guess at what French dining should be. This guess made the experience feel artificial, staged, rather than authentic. Food was okay, not memorable, and the ambience is quite plainly a cliche of a French dining experience of a generation or so ago.
Favorite French restaurant!!!! Great value and the food is to die for. As soon as you walk in you smell butter!
We celebrated my daughter's birthday. They made it super Special! And the food was amazing!
Such a beautiful dining space! Food was good but quite heavy. Great service. We didn't want to leave once our dinner was over!
Wonderful romantic dinner venue. Ambiance is to die for, and the prix fix menu is a bargain.
Food was amazing. The space looked like a little rural restaurant in France. Service was very good and they even had a violinist!
The interior of the place really caught our attention. Its small but very homey with alot of history. The staff were great and super friendly. The food was excellent. We love the escargo and shrimp mango salad. My filet mignon was delicious but the sea bass stole the show. To cap it all, we had the signature grand marnier soufflé which was very light, fluffy and a good call for dessert. Our waiter Jaime made our first visit unforgettable. Next visit is in the works! 😉
We are repeat dinners at Jeanne D'Arc.
One of us is Vegan - our waiter did his best working with the chef to create a vegan main dish. Our waiter suggested that before our next visit we call ahead to give the chef an opportunity to prepare a Vegan main dish.
We will be back.
Charming ambiance, engaging service, delicious food, very attentive staff from beginning to end. From first course to last, the plating, aesthetics, presentation, and taste of the food was excellent. The lighting, artwork, and downstairs location of the dining room made for a romantic and warm environment. The only off note was that a very large dinner party that utilized nearly half of the restaurant's capacity raised the noise level so loud that it was difficult to carry on an intimate conversation with one's dinner date at any other table.
Beautiful restaurant, great decor which takes you to another place and time. And food is so delicious. But waiter smelled like air freshener and disinfectant so every time he came to our table I had to cover my nose. It's too bad, because their meats and sauces are the best in San Francisco. The souffle is yummy too. A bit pricey, $58 for a 4 course meal. But worse it if you can enjoy the whole experience.
San Francisco's oldest French restaurant is tucked away in a hotel basement, just a block from the Sutter-Stockton Garage and a couple doors away from the Powell Street cable car. The ambiance is oh-so French with a beamed ceiling, artwork of Medieval scenes and saints and a suit of armor standing guard at the door. The menu is prix-fixe and the offerings could be from any restaurant in France. The food is delicious. Service was first rate. The price is very reasonable for a restaurant in the City.
The value for the pre fixe menu was good as well as the wines we chose to drink. Very attentive service. I enjoyed my birthday dinner 😋
Such a historic and interesting place! A real classical French restaurant! You can't beat the price... a four course meal for $58, starting with soup, three different second courses to choose from, about 8 different entrees (a few cost slightly more), and three different desserts. Our waiter was French as well. Enjoyed the ambiance and looking at the artifacts and art work throughout.
The food was so delicious from start to finish. There was a lot of food for the price. Great value!! And the ambience was exceptional.
I celebrated a birthday party at this delightful French restaurant. The Prix Fixe Menu provided multiple choices - “Félicitations”...
Food was good. Waiter was rushed, although nice. Didn't not care for the lighting, but overall good ambiance.
I will definitely be back. Chef Tito’s food was amazing. I was pleasantly surprised.
The four of us enjoyed it enough we put it on our list of restaurants to go back to.
Interesting and funky spot. It is a throw back to the '40s and '50s, In mid January Christmas decorations were still up. The food is good and the price points are low. It is a fun place to take people.
Jeanne D'Arc has become our favorite restaurant in San Francisco. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, the staff is friendly and professional, the food is outstanding, and the prices are very reasonable (especially for SF!). The prix fixe menu varies from visit to visit so there is always something to appeal to any palate. I had the lamb loin and my husband had the sea bass, and we both enjoyed our meals. The wine list is very good and the prices are good. We try to take visitors here whenever we can - it's almost like being in France.
Brings us back to France without spending a fortune. A great bargain, excellent choices, in a quiet atmosphere. May not appeal to the younger crowd that wants a loud boisterous atmosphere. Excellent selection of French wines that don't wipe out the wallet.
Took my wife for her 50th birthday. She had lived in France and had been to this restaurant a long time ago. Was the prefect surprise for her. The food was great, atmosphere awesome and service wonderful. A little eclectic venue but great down to earth French food and good value.
Never disappointed in the quality of this restaurant and the quality of the food. Had potato leek soup to start that was divine. Followed by a salad with Little Gem Lettuce, avocado, mango parmesan cheese and a deviled egg. My choice of entree was the Chilean SeaBass, served with baby carrots, beans, and duxelles, also divine. My friend had the duck breast which she loved. We both finished with the Grand Marnier Souffle, also wonderful and we were stuffed! Service was great and we were not rushed. Love the ambience, I feel like I am in France when there. It is a high end restaurant with prices to match, but worth every penny!
If you love real french food down with great care this is the place. Will come back often.
An outstanding dining experience. The food was wonderful and the ambiance transporting. A hidden gem. A must to visit.
Excellent New Year Eve dinner with nice ambiance. Very good value.
We enjoyed our evening at Jeanne D'Arc very much! All wait staff were pleasant and professional, the food was delicious and the live entertainment was extremely enjoyable. Jeanne D'Arc was decorated beautifully!
Thank you, we look forward to returning.
