We stopped by for a late lunch upon arrival in Durango. Lovely bar area and great wait staff. Food was fine. Purchased bread and baked goods as a splurge and weren’t impressed.

This place is worth the drive if you are anywhere in southern Colorado. Jean-Pierre makes the best croissants every and make sure to bring a baguette home. The cafe is right downtown in lovely Durango. You can walk around to work off some of the calories after lunch or breakfast. Their pastries are to die for. We love to go for breakfast. Omelettes are authentic french beauties and other egg dishes and quiche are terrific. Their espresso is not the best, but I may be kind of picky on that. The atmosphere is wonderful old fashioned wood and shelves full of baked goods to catch your imagination. Service may be slow, but you shouldn't be in a hurry when you come here anyway.

Nice live piano some nights. Food is very good. Depending on number of dinners, the service can be laid back but our last visit we got excellent service since is was not crowded. Prices are a little bit high but you often get what you pay for elsewhere. Would highly recommend pastries, croissants and galletes there. Understand breakfasts are very good but not cheap

The French bread and dips were fabulous! Our main courses were very good and the server was kind enough to do separate checks for our group of 8! Unfortunately the restaurant had no one to tend bar and only one server to handle everything. She did the best she could.

Almost everything was great, I would just love to have the chef/kitchen prepare the steak tartare, rather than getting all the ingredients delivered to the table and one having to try to figure out the best combination/amounts, etc...

Average food but very expensive would avoid going there. There are better places in the town like carvers brewing co and Denver diner

We always enjoy Jean Pierre. A fabulous, unique and quiet atmosphere. Friendly, friendly service! And the food is consistently good. We particularly love going there and ordering wine and the cheese plate; sometimes that's our dessert and other times it's our starter course. Regardless, you can't go wrong.

Awesome people with a tremendous zest for life. The restaurant is decorated with an old style French bakery peppered with great ambience and lovely soothing music. Jean Pierre and Rebecca love their customers and provide a personal touch each time we visit.

This was the absolute worst restaurant I have ever been to in my life. The food was horrible and super expensive along with taking forever. We ordered scallops for $34 and Coq au Vin for $28. The scallops were almost hard and tasteless. The chicken came in a soup bowl and was as dry as wood.

I have never been more disappointed

We ate here New Year’s Eve. The decor is charming, but we were so cold it was hard to even enjoy cooking. We ha to move a space heater over to warm us up. Our server was precious and took great care of us.

The atmosphere is very nice. The servers were pleasant and attentive. The bakery goods were excellent but we were unimpressed with our lunch. The French dip my husband liked the bread ( made in house) but said the beef was not good. The ham and cheese was okay. The mochas were very good. Overall the visit served its purpose but I would not go again for lunch. I would visit for a pastry.

The food and wine are very good. A piano player at dinner is a nice effect. Price is a little bit high but not over the top. If you are looking for a relaxed meal this is a good spot. If you are more inclined to not spend too much time dining I would recommend other options in Durango. Also the bakery also has nice treats to temp one.

We always enjoy Jean Pierre - especially when the man himself shows up. Fabulous ambience and the most amazing vegetables we've ever tasted. The cheese plate is fabulous and the main courses are always dependable and never disappoint. One of top 3 favorite places in Durango.

This is our second time at Jean Pierre's. The first time was late night New year's eve dinner 3 years ago when all the other restaurants in town were booked solid. This time we had reservations for the New Years eve dinner at Jean Pierre's . The steak was fabulous! Although I didn't care much for the french fries and the black-eyed peas along the filet mignon. The soups and salad were excellent, and so was the creme brulee. Jean Pierre and his charming wife came to visit our table and shared a bit of their history. We loved the eclectic interior, the excellent food and wine, and the unhurried atmosphere. Wayne our waiter was a gem. We'll be back.

We dined last week, after a friend told us about a French bakery on Main Street they had seen, but not dined at.
We probably should have have walked out, when we told the host we had Open Table reservations, and he said, 'what is Open Table?'.....since he was initially behind the bakery counter, we asked if he had the specialty pastry from Brittany, Kouign Amann. He didn't even answer, and just said, 'huh?'
Lunch as even worse.....dried meat in the sandwich and a French Onion soup, out of a can. We barely ate either......please, other tourists, skip this place.....aside from bad, overpriced food, our waiter Joshua was so uninterested on waiting on us, it was embarrassing. He looked unkept, could have cared less about whether we needed anything, and was apparently there just for a paycheck.
I guess, with so many tourists, that the owner is not obligated to provide good service or decent food....and can get away with it. I would bet, locals do not dine there, and laugh at those of us, who do.

This was our second visit to Jean-Pierre. Considering we r from South Carolina where southern comfort food is superb, we really love this restaurant and the town's atmosphere. Don't know if we will ever make it back to Durango but if we do we know where we will be eating!!

A welcome breakfast or evening desert respite from the many attempted "old west"-themed cafes, restaurants, and taverns in the area. We found this to be a quite authentic French bakery offering a nice variety of morning dishes as well offering some tasty sweets as a pleasant after dinner alternative to usual restaurant desert fare.

Excellent food. My wife had the chicken and mushrooms and I had the Coquilles St Jacques. Both dishes were flavorful and excellent. Service was good. Typical country French. A totally enjoyable evening. Also since we ordered a bottle of wine, we received a free cheese plate.

I was extremely disappointed! Went to Jean Pierre for my 70th birthday, which I stated in my reservation and it went completely unrecognized. The food was terrible..at $20 for ham and eggs one would expect decent, if not high quality, food. My son's french toast was the same I make at home only it was burned. I sent my quiche back..I ordered ham and swiss quiche but it was just a wedge of spongy cheese. I could detect NO eggs or ham. I asked the waiter where the ham was and he said the teeny, burnt crumbs on the top were the ham!! I have had better quiche out of the freezer section of the grocery store. I then ordered eggs, potatoes, and ham, which was better but the potatoes were slightly burned. Our waiter had a rather arrogant attitude and I had to actually ASK for a coffee refill. Prices were $20-25 and I expect at least a coffee refill, without asking, at those prices. I think it would be great to stop by for a cup of coffee and a pastry, but don't ever go there to eat a meal. Coffee was good and ambiance is great, but it ends there.

We Love dinners at Jean-Pierre's, and try to make it here often. They serve a wonderful Steak Tartare, which is not always easy to find ( ask for this coarsely ground ), and they have updated the menu to include some new fun items, including Mussels ! The best deal in town is ordering a bottle of wine and receiving a free cheese plate ( that is fabulous, by the way !). Just a fun place, with good food, and nice light entertainment on the weekends. A lovely French Bakery, as well!!
