Our server needed to be a bit more attentive to the details.

Terrific meal!! We loved the entree of scallopes with gnocchi which was vibrant in color and flavor. This is one of the best dishes I've had from a restaurant in years. The old fashioneds were well made and we enjoyed their house Cabernet Franc as well. The service was not rushed but met our needs. I would highly recommend.

Ther service was good and the food was delicious. The filet was cooked a perfect medium rare. The atmosphere was nice here. We will definitely be coming back.

The food was back to being what we had come to expect from Jean Farris. Very tasty, well prepared, pleasant presentation and ample portions. Better get going getting more Jean Farris wine bottled. Not good to be out of so many wines that then have to be purchased by the bottle for $65-100.

One word “Amazing”, this might be the best restaurant experience ever. Our server Jessica was exceptional. She was extremely knowledgeable about the food, wine, and cocktails. We started with a cheese plate of three cheeses that came with house made crackers that were the best I’ve ever had. The cheeses were unique and well recommend by Jessica. We also ordered the beef carpaccio to start and it was a unique seared version with a spicy horseradish dressing. I ordered the Sea Scallops entree, which was the best I have ever had, extremely fresh with gnocchi and lots of vegetables. We also enjoyed the pork with corn pudding and brussels sprouts , as well as, the fried chicken with cheesy grits with grilled onions. We only had room for one dessert to share so we choose the buttermilk panna cotta with a blueberry and lavender sauce. The entire meal was terrific. Lexington is lucky to have such a unique farm-to-table restaurant to share.

Only 2 options of entree available on Easter at 2:15. This doesn’t make sense to me considering they took reservations. The food was no better than average. The menu was misleading.....carrot hash browns?? Grape tomato salad?? The server had little to no knowledge of wine....at a winery? Very disappointing Easter meal. Thank goodness that I was in excellent company.

This is one of my favorite places to eat when near Lexington. The cheese selection for charcuterie is wonderful. My salad was swimming in some sort of oil dressing, very gross, had three bites and no more. My daughter and husband both loved their food, chicken pasta and hamburger, respectively. Had to ask to be seated on enclosed porch which is a big draw for me being from a big city and dining near nature. Ordered 4 charcuterie and 4 wine flights. Got 3 charcuterie with 7 cheeses. Not 8 the menu stated were available. Menu stated charcuterie/butcher board would come with various meats, pickles etc, even at lunch, but ours did not. Felt like our bill was a little high considering one of our boards only had one cheese and it looked like we got charged for 3 full boards.

Regardless of possible bill mix up, we did not address it with staff. We were heading home from a vacation and this was our last stop for 2.5hours until home, and did not feel up to stressing the bill.

I have been here on several occasions. Day and evening. The property is lovely despite proximity to 75 and the cheese selection is fantastic. Wine is wonderful as well. We will be back when we pass through Lexington again, but I will be more vocal about what we’re expecting from our order. If I had not had such travel exhaustion I would have spoken up about cheese boards and salad.

This is the Best place to eat PERIOD ... always great food and service .. We have ate at many places in Lexington “ the best of the best” none have compared to Jean Farris Thanks to the staff for always being great ... A dining pleasure ...

Food is amazing. Service is outstanding. Local wine and other dishes. One of our favorite spots in Lexington.

Jean Farris has been our favorite restaurant for a while now. We stopped by to try the new spring menu as well as enjoy two happy hour cocktails. Everything was absolutely delicious and we especially loved the new rack of lamb dish. Our waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Will definitely be back.

Did not disappoint. I had the scallops with gnocchi and it was delicious. My husband enjoyed the lamb with roasted turnips. Wait staff was terrific. Loved it all.

The red blends were a little disappointing. But overall a good experience.

Really nice atmosphere, great service and really good food. Only one vegan dish on the menu but, it was wonderful.

There were 4 ppl in our party.. first the appetizer of cheese for 20.00 was literally 3 very small pieces of cheese which were good but overpriced.. but the worst was the chicken ordered was way over cooked and the pork tenderloins very dry and over cooked! My dinner the lobster was only thing good! My husband never complains but literally couldn’t eat it his pork and waitress took entire plate back n offered to fix something else but we didn’t have another hr to wait.. she offered dessert which two of us accepted.. she did not charge for the 8.00 desserts but charged for the 25.00 pork tenderloin which he sent entirity back! I felt like we should’ve never been charged for this item at all! The other couple was very hungry and chose to eat their meal but was very dissatisfied with the dryness and over cooked chicken and pork. Between the two parties it costs close to 170.00 which definitely wasn’t worth what we had exp when my husband didn’t even eat! Very dissatisfied and won’t return!

Our request to be seated on the sun porch was honored, the views of the KY countryside are unsurpassed. Our waitress, Colby, was new but was knowledgeable about the wines and menu. We would have appreciated if she had checked on us during our meal to refill water and wine glasses.
The roasted chicken was delicious flavorful with just the right about of herbs and marinade. The skirt steak had more in common with beef jerky than steak. Way too tough.
The Old Fashion was wonderful, especially the price.

We dined at Jean Farris with friends from out of town this past weekend. 3 of our party had special dietary needs and Nate and the kitchen crew prepared a delicious meal for all of us. We enjoyed the weekly special happy hour cocktails at the bar prior to our meal. Jean Farris is our favorite dining location.

I have never been more disappointed with a restaurant. Jean Farris has taken a serious dive in terms of quality in the past year. My girlfriend and I received a gift card to Jean Farris and made a drive down to Lexington over the weekend to have a date night. Upon the arriving, the restaurant's facade was deceptively inviting, but its true character resided in the absence of decent wine and bland, overpriced meals.

For dinner we sampled the classic red and white wine flights, which were almost unbearable to drink. The wine, tasting of old raisins and bitter molasses, which signifies error in the oxidation process of the wine, was best drunk like a shot, rather than a wine. I was astounded. A winery that produces and bottles flawed wine? I should have taken the hint when our server mentioned, "Some wines are better than others." By the end of the night I was at a winery drinking bourbon.

Now the food is an entirely different story. The beet salad consisted of a smattering of grapefruit, tough beets, a drizzle of honey, and a crumble of feta cheese. I have no doubt this meal could be exceptional, but with ingredients that are produced by the hands of someone that might be better qualified to work in a T.G.I. Friday's, I would strongly advocate against ordering. Thankfully girlfriend and I ended up sending the meal back to order meatballs, which proved to be palatable. At this point, I couldn't help but notice the couple next to use could not even finish their meal. laughed to myself as I studied their plates, both ordered steaks that looked more like the rubbery dog toy than a steak.

I am, sadly, already nearing the word limit and have not even reached the main course, how unfortunate, I only hope the preceding text has discourage you enough from wasting your money at this establishment. So to make a long story short, I will sum up the restaurant as: overpriced, deceptive, talentless, and distasteful.

Of course you expect dinner at any restaurant to be busy on Valentine Day. But for it to take one hour and 45 minutes, for two people!Clearly, the kitchen was over taxed and wait staff at a loss to just sit and watch helplessly or continue to refill water and wine glasses.

Once we received our food it was tasty and well presented. We had just lost interest waiting 45 minutes after we ordered.

My wife and girlfriends eat here on regular basis; she says they have never had this kind of lapse. But even she recognized the inability of the kitchen to meet the larger crowd.

The food is really the only thing to critique. It was St. Valentine’s holiday. So, I’m sure they’d been busy. 1st course: lobster bisque & arugula salad were the best elements. They weren’t perfect. But they were well done, for fine dinning standards. Next , the entrées: “surf-n-turf” filet mignon and tdiver scallops with “loaded fingerling potatoes” besides poor temp. at presentation, the potatoes were a mess. I think of casseroles as dishes that are suited for potlucks, school lunch and less than skillful culinary artists. My date had the Halibut with macaroni-n-cheese. The Mac-n-cheese was over seasoned. But the Halibut was expertly cooked excluding neglecting to remove the fish fats that rise to the surface of white fish flesh.

The desserts were underwhelming in portion and execution. All I can say is, I’ll go back and hope it was the business of the dreaded holiday.

We had an outstanding Valentine’s Day experience!!! I read through some of the negative comments and to be honest, we didn’t experience any of the complaints. Food was outstanding, service was exceptional, and the ambiance was fantastic. A little on the pricier side as far as the menu went but it was worth every penny. Can’t wait for warmer weather to go back and enjoy the patio! Overall we had a very enjoyable experience and would highly recommend going and seeing for yourself!

Having lived in Ca. And having access to lots of great wines, The wine here was off. I tried an outside wine, could not find one of theirs I liked.

Delicious food and great service! I always go for the scallops or the filet:-). The bar serves more than the Jean Farris wines . Beautiful sunsets!

My wife and I went for Valentine's Day dinner. We elected to have the specials. One was halibut and the other
Fillet and scallops. Both were spectacular. The food, service, and ambiance were all perfect.

Food was burnt and cold. Potatoes had 1/4 inch thick of bottom burnt to a crisp. Food was presented on the plate with burnt portions hidden. I don’t know how staff cut the potatoes it was so thick, burnt and crisp. The fact that they served this food to a customer says a lot about the way the owner treats their staff. Our server could tell something was wrong but refused to acknowledge it to us. I will not pay $140 for bad wine, burnt and cold food. Never had such poor service or food in my life.

We celebrated Valentine's Day early at Jean Farris. We LOVED our dinner. The wine was good, Cheese and sausages were so so good, and the dinner was good. I don't eat a lot of red meat so they were so nice and accommodated me by changing the surf and turf from steak to chicken. We had the patio all to ourselves. The inside was busy but it was nice being able to talk.

We had a lovely time at Jean Farris. We like to come for happy hour before our meal. There are always new special cocktails to try and our favorites are also available. Our meals were perfectly cooked and delicious. We came with another couple who also had a fabulous time. Jean Farris is our favorite dining spot.

The main was too much salty for me

We have been going to Jean Farris for years but had not gone in a long while. Our recent experience was superb! We will be sure to go back soon.

We enjoyed dinner, the atmosphere, and Jessica our server was awesome! Great wine also.

It was very easy to make a reservations and then the wine and food were outstanding ! Everyone there was very nice and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We will be back !

Excellent service, always reliable. The filet was done to perfection! Quiet.

New Year’s Eve

Sirloin steak was tough. I had to saw at it with a steak knife. Didn't look like a sirloin steak. You get a better steak at Longhorn, Malone's, or home for half the price. My steak was cut in half when it arrived and the waiter waited while my wife cut into her filet to see if it was medium. Chief must not know how to cook a medium steak. I typically don't do reviews or complain but the last time I ordered a steak here it was a NY strip. That was worse than this time but figured it was a one-off. Had to ask for rolls that were lukewarm and really nothing special. Too bad, we usually saved JF for special occasions. If we do go back we will probably stay away from beef. Seems to be a weakness.

Our first visit to Jean Farris was really pleasant. We did three flights of tastings of dry wines which included both reds and whites (there were 2 semi sweets in the white wine tasting). Our opinion was that the food quality out shined the quality of the wine. Service was with Jessica whom we felt very comfortable with as she was patient and attentive. We can see where summertime would be a great time to visit again!

The overall experience was good. The food was average and could have been warmer. For the cost, we would have expected more.

Always solid. One of our favorite places in Lexington. Relaxing atmosphere.
