I love the food here! I appreciate the owner regularly checking on us, but I wish our server stopped by more.

What an experience! From the moment we walked in the door until we packed up to leave... exceptional! Margaret is STILL amazing and the bartender (Jeannie's husband...sorry I couldn't remember his name) is wonderful! We tried several items from the bar: Peach Jalapeno Margarita, 12 year Bourbon Flight, Elf on a Shelf, and an Old Fashioned...they were all great. We had the Fried Green Tomatoes with Smoked Bourbon Pimento Cheese as an appetizer, salad and the filets with side of Jeannie's famous Brussel Sprouts for dinner. We ended the night with the vanilla and molasses Creme Brulee. I can't wait to return!

Our server was great and our mix drinks were wonderful. Bartender very polite and welcoming. However our food wasn’t the best. I had the filet and my boyfriend had the prime rib. I didn’t like my steak very much and my potatoes were hard. The appetizer board was amazing though.

New Year’s Eve dinner with my wife and friends. Special menu was well thought out, the waitress was very aware of the specials and wine selections; Food was well prepared , came out on time, had great taste, and the restaurant was nicely decorated. Will go back for regular meals and summer occasions.

Not too much open in Louisville on Christmas Day…so off to Lexington we go…88 miles away…totally worth it! We had a shaky start with our server but I spoke up and things got better…and wish we would have been seated in the front part of the restaurant…away from a large loud group, minus those two things…everything was excellent and delicious!!

What a wonderful find to share a family Christmas Day tradition dinner. The traditional plate of Turkey and ham, with oyster stuffing potatoes and green beans was delicious. We also enjoyed the butternut squash ravioli with bourbon glazed duck. What a treasure to also meet Jean Farris, the owner and hear her story. We will be back and so grateful to discover this treasure.

My husband and I decided to dine out for Christmas this year. I first want to say I highly respect any establishment that closes for the holidays, but also appreciate those who offer services. That being said, I believe we would've faired better eating a simple meal at home. Literally anything at home would've been better. The appetizers were flavorless, pretzel bread was so hard it was inedible and the almost $50 filet was chewy and gray. The side dishes tasted like they were cooked several days prior and reheated in the microwave. I would not have such an issue, however this meal cost well over $100 and .... It's Christmas!!! I so hoped this restaurant would be a hit for the holidays but instead of feeling holly jolly I left feeling more like the Grinch. If you're going to be open, and charge upscale prices for food, do better.

We are on a long-distance trip across several states, and I love searching ‘Best This…’ and ‘Best That…’ in areas as we are driving (best way to find breweries and wineries off the beaten path!) This was a top Lexington eatery and was on our way to the hotel, farm to table menu, bourbon flights for the hubby, terrific variety of menu, and not a stuffy, crisp white table cloth kind of place that you can’t appreciate while passing through. We had a later reservation and they were accommodating that we stayed about fifteen minutes past closing. There weren’t too many people in there on the 18th of December, but all sites seemed to stress reservations. Still, 100% recommend this place for any type of event or night out.

Like most places, they were understaffed but very nice about it. The drinks were okay. The food was fine not outstanding. Part of the charm of this place is the vineyards, so it is probably best enjoyed in the warmer months. It wasn’t bad, but wee were a bit disappointed in food and service.

We had a lovely Thanksgiving meal at Jean Farris while being from out of town and traveling. It is a charming family run establishment. The owner's daughter was our server and she was so thoughtful and attentive to us and my husband's dietary needs, even on a holiday. The food was delicious and the wine we ordered was perfect with our meal. If we find ourselves back in Lexington, we will definitely make our way back here.

Food service and ambience all excellent. Only complaints, the sign needs to be lit up better I went right by it in the dark. Also we were in the tent and it was a bit chilly by the tent wall. Overall we loved the experience and would recommend it whole heartedly.

Seated on time. Cheese board (one board for four people) was small and showed it had been out for a very long time...dried out cheese. Drinks were heavy on ETOH content. Main dish was huge. Good tastes. Dessert pie was over done. Service was uneven. Won't do this event again.

Looking for Thanksgiving venue as I'm not from the Lexington area. My thought process was any restaurant providing a $55 prix fixe menu with limited availability would be a good bet for good food. NOT SO!! The antipasto and salad course were decent. The entre choice was Thanksgiving plate (turkey, ham, dressing, mashed potatoes & green beans) or mushroom risotto. All Thanksgiving plate items were less tasty than Cracker Barrel and the dressing was actually uneatable as it was some type of strange sweet. I requested a sample of the mushroom risotto as perhaps I had just made a poor choice - no...salty and could have been a boxed version. The pumpkin pie creme brulee had NO caramelized top but was a rather flat version of a crust-less pumpkin pie. It was SOOOO disappointing!!

It was great even though my main entree was a bit cold. Im sure it was because of the volume prepared for thanksgiving. It is has never been cold in the past. The Old Fashion was the best I have ever tasted! Pumpkin Creme Burlee and crowder was incredible.

What a great experience! My wife had noticed the sign on I75 for the Jean Farris Winery and Bistro for quite sometime. We had an opportunity to stop and have lunch on Sunday. The food, service and drinks were off the charts. The food was fresh and served perfectly. We had the Beets and Berries salad, our friends the Mahi Mahi, us the Pork Lion. The Brussel Sprouts were amazing. We don't normally have desert but the Peanut Butter pie was too good to pass up. The Kentucky Chardonnay is a unique taste and worth a try. The drinks from the bar were outstanding. On top of all of that, it was not crowded on a rainy Sunday, so the conversation with all the staff was wonderful. We will be back again.

We visited this winery and bistro many years ago. We recall white linen table clothes, sparkling crystal stemware and elegant fare. Last night we sat at a metal-mesh patio table, a glass of bourbon came with fingerprint smudges on it. The menu was not the same as what we had seen online (no duck confit, for example) The classic red wine flight was superb. My dinner, the mahi-mahi, was delicious. My husband's bouillabaisse was not good. All of the seafood tasted as though it had been frozen. The other two couples we brought along with us had similarly mixed reviews. One had to send her sweet potatoes back to be heated, they were cold. The server was delightful but overall, disappointed in bringing friends to a place we had better memories of. We do understand that this is a challenging time for restaurants.

We went for the first time yesterday and what a surprise. The menu was not your typical winery fare (think more upscale restaurant). I had the bouillabaisse which was delicious!! We got to meet both owners who shared their story of how the winery got started. I wished we lived closer so we could go more often but we will definitely be stopping there again on our trip between Lake Cumberland and Northern Kentucky.
