There were 4 of us in our party, two with birthdays. The service was friendly and efficient, the food delicious, and the birthday surprise of dessert for the two birthday men was incredibly nice. There was no cover on the deck area, which was not consistent with posted photos, and the gin and tonic was mediocre. Overall a very nice experience, but we also got lucky that the sun was not excruciating. Jdek should recognize people’s risk of skin cancer and get some patio umbrellas of some sort.
Eating on the deck was relaxing and very enjoyable. I will definitely do this again!
Great service, amazing food! Beat place to spend an anniversary!
The weather was spectacular for my riverside dinner; Hannah was a bright spirit with food & wine wisdom. As planned and executed, a marvelous sunset evening!
Loved the ambiance and atmosphere, the views were great! Our service was pleasant and attentive. My only complaint was the food. I splurged on the filet mignon but wished I hadn't; it was overcooked and just plain boring, hardly seasoned at all.
My husband got the half chicken which he thought was pretty good and we did like our appetizer and dessert (charcuterie board & rhubarb caramel cheesecake).
Overall good experience, but the food was a bit overpriced for nothing great.
We attended with two kids for the American Picnic in July 3rd. It was wonderful. I would only suggest adding some hotdogs or hamburgers for the younger kids. Thank you!
Open Table reservations clearly stated that outdoor seating was unavailable so I booked a high top that I assumed was in the bar area and not associated with Margaux fine dining area. If the weather had been warmer or my guests prepared, we would have been pleasantly surprised to learn we were seated outside. As it was, we were not prepared. I also would have thought propane lantern heaters would be on hand since Michigan Spring-Summer-Fall temperatures can be very unpredictable. If was fine until the sun set. Staff readily supplied a blanket to start and then eventually moved us inside. Inside was great, but acoustics were loud making conversation difficult. This is a great Grand Rapids location, and the wait staff were very accommodating.
The food was cold and terrible! My waitress disappeared and when she resurfaced. She said I was waiting for you to make eye contact! I love the patio so nice to sit in the summer. The awful food and poor service is not worth it!
We did not eat, the drinks were fine and the setting was awesome however they were too busy for how many people they had working. Our server was perfectly pleasant but it took us 30 minutes to get a glass of wine and a whiskey drink from their cocktail menu with minimal communication. I understand places are trying to get back in the swing but they shouldn’t have accepted our reservation then.
The food is absolutely delicious and the outside seating overlooking the River is beautiful!
We always love the JW. It’s lively. It’s clean. There were about six people in the entire restaurant and our server forgot our food. We waited over an hour for two people. We will definitely return, but will always sit at the bar. Nothing was comped. Nothing was discounted. We look forward to our next visit, but never again at a table. The bartenders are thorough, knowledgeable, competent, and attentive.
Out server was exceptionally nice.
My group did not get to experience the Jdek at Margaux with our reservation. We arrived early for our reservation time at 8:45pm and waited over 20 minutes after our reservation to be seated while other reservations at our time were immediately sat. Although management did address the issue, nothing was done to get my group seated in a quick manner. It was a bummer we waited for such a long period and never got to enjoy the beautiful sunset and drinks for our birthday party group.
Expensive for the quality of the food. Your basically paying for the view.
Our server, Jaz, was so attentive and sweet. We were there to celebrate my cousin's engagement and they really made her feel special with the dinner and atmosphere. We all enjoyed our dinner and drinks, too!
Excellent meal excellent wait staff. You have to appreciate the hard-working people who work in the hospitality industry and I've had to deal with Covid and concerned travelers and government over regulation. The ones that showed up and took care of you deserve to be treated very well!
Food was delicious, however the service was very slow. Our waitress seemed to be very stressed but was still great.
NO heaters on patio and bugs everywhere. Service was slow.
We sat at the bar and had drinks and dinner. What a fun atmosphere and the food and drinks were A+!!
I was not aware that jdeck was only open until 2pm. When we got there, most tables were full. By the time we were seated and looking at the menus all tables were empty except for us. We were told we had to order immediately because kitchen and bar were closing at 2pm. Our reservation was for 1:45. I had brought a friend there for their 50th birthday for the ambiance of being on the river, in the sun, assuming it would be an enjoyable atmosphere with people around us clinking glassware and laughing - but instead we were made to feel like we were intruding and needed to leave. Our food and drinks were good - and the servers made a big deal out of it being my friend's birthday - but, I still felt a disgruntled over being rushed while paying for higher quality. If you don't want people on your deck past a certain time, don't take the reservation. Who is going to get a birthday brunch over in 15 minutes?
Service is slow and not attentive.
Both flatbread pizzas were great and had quality ingredients.
It was raining so we sat in the lounge area. Pretty disappointing service. Friendly and helpful, but slow. Also very loud and cold every time someone opened the door.
I was there with my mom & sisters to celebrate a late Mother’s Day. I rented a dome on the deck. When we arrived, there were no domes. They had taken them down for the season. No one told us that. The host told us that we were lucky they had a table available for us. We had a reservation. They better have had a table for us. Unfortunately, the table was in their lobby area for the hotel. It was loud. There was no privacy. I wished I had made reservations elsewhere. The food was the only good thing about our time out.
Went to the domes for anniversary. The ambiance, food, and service was perfect! Couldn’t have asked for a better date to mark the occasion
Everything was perfect! We celebrated my husbands 40th birthday.
Drinks are overpriced - food is solid, nothing great. You’re paying for an awesome experience sitting riverside, which is enough for me to go back on a special occasion.
The domes are very nice. Great view and nice little heaters. Very fun experience
Had an amazing time for my birthday, the staff was so friendly and i love the separate speaker aspect in each igloo.
A gorgeous night on the river, a little pricey but a great way to celebrate.
We didn’t eat but rather had cocktails so the food rating is not based on food. The igloo was fine, but too warm with the sun - without any ventilation it was like a sauna! We had a great meal at the restaurant inside ( French bistro) and were not disappointed at all! Nice evening!
Unique and private - loved the feel of it and the brunch was amazing.
Our server was incredible. Truly wonderful service - food was incredible as well. We ordered the featured ribeye and it was so good! Definitely will be coming back! :)
Great ambience and our waitress was friendly and attentive.
We went for Easter brunch and it was a little disappointing. It was a bottomless ‘family style’ meal but only 3 dishes to share. There was a skillet of scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, a blueberry waffle and a plate of bacon and sausage. For $30pp I outdoor have expected at least some fruit and pastries as well.
With its great location by the river it could have been awesome.
We really enjoy going downtown GR for dinner and loved being on the water at the JDek. The cocktails were delicious and the charcuterie board is a must order.
We had a hiccup at the check in for the Domes. I had called to inquire about bringing a cake. I was told it was fine. I arrived and was told there would be a cake cutting fee. I of course asked why I wasn't told when I called? I was asked when I called. I said when I updated my reservation. She said she didn't have record of the update, so I showed the email evidence. She then went to get a manager and it took a while, so someone else came up and asked if they could help. They told me it would be fine as long as I was cutting the cake myself. The attendant came but without the manager. I told her what the last person said. I asked her to wait on the person after me so she didn't have to wait. She did and escorted her to her Dome. The Manager showed up and explained that the fee would be per person which were 5. I did say I would put the cake in the car. I felt the fee should be waived due to it not being disclosed when I called ahead! I was escorted to the Dome which was Beautiful, the food was excellent and the service was great!
This is the first place we've gone out to eat in Grand Rapids since the pandemic started about 1 year ago. It was amazing, gorgeous view and felt very private. I'm paranoid about sanitizing and I felt like everything was very clean. They had a Bluetooth speaker so we could play music. There was a family with some silly kids in the dome next to ours dancing... Pretty sure one got a bloody nose at one point. I got to be entertained by them but couldn't hear a sound from their dome! Everything was amazing; our waitress, the atmosphere, view and food. I want to come back when it's a little darker to see the domes more lit (I forgot about time change when I made the reservation 🤦♀️ but we got a great sunset view)
Loved being in our own dome. The service was great along with the drinks and food!
The dome was a great way to dine out while still being cautious with limited exposure to other guests. The food and drinks were great and it was easy to review their menu online.
We had such an amazing time in the domes for brunch! Lots of fun with friends, and Emma was an amazing server. Domes are super warm and cute ☺️
