Always an excellent experience
Great place for an informal seafood dinner. Food quality is great.
Sitting outside is a crap shoot. Last night was terrible because there was a table with an uncontrolled young man who kept running around. We came at 6.
Other nights have been great. We will come back next time at 7 or 7:30 to avoid the situation - or sit inside (when the Delta Covid variant is gone).
Everything was just ok. Nothing stood out and nothing was bad. It was all fairly uninspired and I left $140 poorer feeling a bit let down.
Entree was brought to our table before we finished the salad course. The food was cold and my wife did not want her entree. The manager discounted our check by $20 for an entree that was not eaten.
Fabulous food! We had a wonderful meal.
Haley our server was absolutely a doll. So personable so attentive and we’d love to come back and have her as our server again
Overall good. Peel n eat shrimp was way too messy…they can be better without all of that gunk on there.
Haley was our server, and she's nice, patient, and attentive - has an amazing memory. She remembered us from a month ago... down to the chives, bread, drinks and food, etc. Thanks again, Haley... you will always be a tremendous employee no matter what you do or where you work! Happy Hour is always wonderful and fun at Jax.
we've eaten here many time and always have a good experience. I always get the grilled oysters as an appetizer; they are luscious!
This time, I was not pleased with the amount or flavor of the protein in the entree I ordered. When I informed the server, she kindly offered to replace it with another entree of my choice. The manager even came over to apologize and let me know that my new selection, the scallops dish, would be ready very soon, which it was, and it was very tasty!
My dining partner was also very pleased with his choice, the halibut.
I was very happy with the way they handled my dissatisfaction, and I will continue to patronize this restaurant!
Sat upstairs on the covered patio. Although it was 90° out, the breeze blowing through was perfect. The service was spot-on and attentive and friendly. The food and drinks came out quick and delicious. Another great experience at Jax!
it's a lovely facility with seating inside and out. It's not too convenient to our home so we probably won't be regulars.
A little expensive for the area. Ran out of the recommended Halibut. Desserts were very limited so we didn’t even chose any.
Very delicious grilled oysters appetizer.
Went to Jax for an early dinner/happy hour on Sunday. The food was delicious, the happy hour deals are good ($2 oysters!), the happy hour cocktails were very tasty. We ordered the grilled mahi special and it was phenomenal: fish was cooked perfectly, and was on top of a bed of corn succotash and rice pilaf with a smoked mango coulis. Honestly divine.
Excellent food except for Butterscotch Dessert, very bland.
Had a reservation, but our table was not free when we arrived. The hostess went above and beyond to please us- prepared a table in another area. Our server, Tyler, was friendly and helpful- the right amount of attentive. We ordered the Line platter for two and really enjoyed a leisurely dining experience. Thanks
Outstanding service with amazing food! Our server was on point and the head chef came out to ask how our food was. Highly recommend to anyone who wants great seafood in the Mile High City!
Great restaurant. Happy hours are a good deal. Ryan, the bartender, is very personable and is always friendly and attentive. The food is fantastic! Ask Ryan for 1 or 2 of his personally stuffed bleu cheese olives.
Amazing calamari, however my oyster Po’Boy was inedible.
As usual, Jax delivered on everything. Although there have had a few food missteps in the past, everything we had this visit was spot on.
Oysters: fresh, plump and delicious
Peel and Eat Shrimp: perfectly cooked and seasoned
Ahi Tuna Poke: this was a new preparation with sticky rice, spicy chile-peanut sauce, avocado, crispy shallot, and ponzu. We hope they keep this on the menu for a while because it's now our new favorite. To die for.
Chargrilled Oysters: unbelievable as always.
Love this restaurant. It just keeps getting better and better.
Only the gelato and the coffee were any good and the coffee was cold. The server was pleasant.
Food and service was great! Definitely coming back!
Cocktails weren’t particularly impressive. Apparently our first server was finished working after we got our salads and appetizer but never let us know... We had to flag someone else down to order dinner and wine, and then we saw our first server leaving with her bag. The scallops were cooked perfectly but the sides were just okay. Our second server was great, except when we asked to see the dessert menu she informed us that the dessert chef had already gone home. Most nice places will tell you the kitchen is closing in case you are interested in dessert. Probably wouldn’t go back.
Outstanding food and service. Three different people helped accommodate our needs, including the talented chef.
Really a lackluster experience. So disappointed because I used to love JAX. Everything needs some new life: the menu, servers, patio, wine, food. Not a good value:(.
Food was mediocre. Also ordered catfish - no sauce. Guess what. It came with sauce. Server disappeared for long periods of time. Place was empty. What happens when it’s busy?
Attentive and friendly staff along with super seafood made for a great dinner.
The food was excellent and our waiter made excellent recommendations for us.
Fantastic place! The food was delicious and refreshing on a hot summer day.
We went for happy hour - and had a wonderful experience! The services was great, the food was very good, and the happy hour pricing was very nice!! We had a wonderful time!
Mary, Thank you so much for your kind words. We had a wonderful time with you and can't wait to see you again SOON!
We were there on a cool day and dined upstairs. They used radiant heaters so we were very comfortable. Since things were a little slow for the servers, they had plenty of time to make us feel at home. While they attended to our needs, we never felt rushed or hurried.
We started with the chargrilled oysters. They were in a Cajon butter with a touch of cheese and they were some of the best oysters I've ever had and I really like chargrilled oysters. I first tried chargrilled oysters in Louisiana and they certainly know how to do them down there. These were better.
My partner had the halibut and I had the scallops. Both were excellent. The scallops had just the right amount of caramelization without over cooking them. The halibut was also grilled, not over done, lite and flaky as fresh halibut should be.
For desert we shared a key lime tort and it had just the right amount of tartness.
I have to mention the drinks. My partner had the Jax strawberry lemonade and I had the Sweet heat. I highly recommend both.
All and all it was a wonderful evening and would love to got back again.
Doug, Thank you so much for your amazing review! We had SUCH a great time with you and your partner. We hope to see you again soon! -Melissa Pite (General Manager)
I was so disappointed in the food, the blue crab garganelli was so dry I had to have my sister put some of her chowder sauce on it and it still wasn’t good, had no flavor & the chunks of crab that was said to be in it was shredded & very little.
My sister’s chowder had mussels that had nothing in them and she thought it had no flavor also.
It was my husband and my anniversary so it was a disappointing meal.
I will say Sienna our server was very nice and did a nice job.
This is an average fish restaurant. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out as good. Portions are small so I think it’s a bit pricey for the taste and portion size. Probably won’t come back for dinner, maybe happy hour.
Melinda, Thank you so much for the feedback. We are always looking for ways to improve! We hope to see you again soon.
Great oysters and ambiance! I would definitely recommend for a fun evening out.
Thank you so much for the kind words, we hope to see you soon!
Our server was excellent, very accomodating to us
We’ve gone to Jax in downtown for happy hour and the food was awesome so we made a reservation for a date at the Glendale location with high expectations. The food was terrible. Nothing had any flavor. At one point I asked my wife if we both had covid because we both couldn’t taste our food but the reality is is that the food has no seasoning. We ordered calamari, gumbo, chowder, cornbread, a fish and pasta dish, lobster roll, oysters, and a few other things. The best thing we had were the oysters but there isn’t any cooking involved there. Very disappointed in the food and will not be going back to the Glendale location. Service was pretty good but food was not on par.
Extremely pricey for a landlocked restaurant and the portions were small. Hostess was the dumbest; we had requested a window table when we made the reservation and she put us at the bar even though there were tables available. Waiter also forgot our appetizer order, but he did buy a dessert for us. Nah, we won’t be back.
Food was delicious but service was stellar especially during post-pandemic times. Shoutout to Tyler our server for making us very comfortable and Haley our busser for her positive attitude and attentiveness!
It was great. I always have the peel and eat shrimp and the wedge salad And seven dollar white wine at happy hour. The waiter Tyler I believe his name was he was great
Really enjoy their happy hour, wish they'd add a salad back like the wedge but the small ones are quite reasonable anytime. Like many places, some of the staff are new, but attentive and any server made sure our dishes were brought out quickly. We had to laugh, we had three different servers try to remove a plate from where we were getting every last drop of their wonderful mustard sauce.
My 3-star on service is not reflective of our actual server, who was great, but of the fact that the staff is not masked; this was the 1st restaurant I have been in where that has been the case. There is still a 12% failure rate by the best of vaccines against the Delta Variant, and vaccinated people can pass virus or any variation. This staff is inside for 5-12 hours depending on their shifts and are getting exposed to tons of people. I won't be going back here and won't be recommending until once either the restaurant goes back to mask requirements or our country is more fully vaccinated.
