Always a classically great dining experience!

Boulder was a stop on our cross country journey and Jax was a perfect place for dinner. We ate in the tent which felt very safe. Our waiter was fabulous and the food was too. We had calamari as an appetizer and it was tender, not greasy and delish! Our entrees of tuna with risotto and grouper in parchment were cooked (or not in the case of the ahi) to perfection. I highly recommend Jax.

We had a great time! We had never been to Jax before, but visit Boulder frequently because our daughter lives there. I’m so glad we had the chance to go because it was so fun!

Wait staff was excellent. Food was very good. Out of the catfish but was replaced by amazing shrimp. Everyone was accommodating and very pleasant. One of my favorite eateries. Collard greens and hushpuppies were the bomb!

We enjoyed Jax so much on our first visit, we brought our son the next night. What a wonderful find! The food was absolutely delicious with only one minor exception which I will elaborate on below. Our first visit we both had the Lucky Lime oysters, Cioppino, the Caesar salad and butterscotch pudding which were all great choices. Honestly speaking, the Cioppino broth was the best we've had and we've had some excellent. ones as it's one of our favorite dishes.

Our second visit we chose the octopus special, Lucky Lime oysters once again, the Grouper, and the flourless chocolate cake. All were delicious! Our one and only disappointment was the potatoes served with the grouper. They were quite bland beside the flavorful preparation of the fish. Perhaps they needed a bit more of the sherry & mustard so that they better complemented the dish.

I would be remiss if I did not call out the outstanding service provided by the staff. It's truly a team effort and you clearly feel the appreciation the staff has for their diners. The manager, Eric, was a delight chatting with us and providing wine suggestions while our servers, Alex and Penny were attentive, helpful, and fun. Kudos to the rest of the staff as well. You all do a great job!

This is a tough review to write as we go to Jax frequently and usually love it. These are trying times, but when you charge so much, you still need to get it right. We were outside in a tent and it was so hot with air blasting we felt like we were going to pass out. They tried to fix the problem, but every time they did another table complained about being cold so they moved the GIANT heat tube right back to our table. The poor waiter was trying to get to everyone, but was really slow (maybe the whole place was understaffed). I had tuna ($34) that was rubbery and cold. The oysters, however were fantastic. I hope they can get back in the groove.

Jax went beyond excellence in making my nephews 21 st birthday very special from the Oyster shooter, the complimentary amazing dessert to all the birthday wishes from the wait staff. The food was delicious, the grouper cooked perfectly and the calamari so tender it melted in your mouth.

Food descriptions sound good, but the results were so-so.

Food and service was amazing...but the leak in the roof in the middle of the restaurant was not very visually appealing. I’m sure they will get that corrected soon.

This was an excellent experience. Food was outstanding. Best non coastal Sea Food experience ever. The staff was great and knowledgeable. We were were super pleased with wait staff and management. I rarely write reviews but this is a place not to be missed if you are in bolder and like seafood.

Food was delicious! Service on the money - attentive but not "hovering about". Various courses were delivered appropriately i.e. when we were ready for them and not 'on top" of each other. Obvious staff works together as a "team" to deliver great customer service. Is it a bit expensive - yes, but you get what you pay for - great quality of food and excellent service! We're going back in a week!

We’ve been going to Jax in Boulder for over 20 years and absolutely love it. It never fails to disappoint with its fresh seafood, creative cocktails and terrific staff. Our most recent visit was to take advantage of Oyster Month which was fun! I ordered raw, fried and NOLA style oysters along with hush puppies. My husband order the steak special. We enjoyed the complexity of the cocktails and had fun chatting up a bar tender.

Our many thanks to Big Red F for keeping this place up and running, with great food and excellent staff during Covid.

Seriously people, if you have not given Jax a try, run to it! You won’t be disappointed (...well, unless you don’t like seafood).

excellent food and drinks. We mostly had oysters and they were very fresh and delicious. Drinks were bomb and the team service was great. The tent dining ambiance could use some creative efforts lol.

Outstanding dining experience. All staff were friendly and efficient, with just the right amount of attentiveness. The oysters were delicious and my son loved his first experience with mussels! I had a Paloma that was expertly made and delicious as well. A fantastic visit all around. Will definitely be back!

We had a lovely meal and were able to take advantage of Jax' oyster month. The oysters were great (we ordered a dozen) and our waitress was excellent. One of the young men who was responsible for clearing the table was a little overzealous and interrupted me quite abruptly while I was talking with my family. The food was good but I would not say excellent. We were excited to see a series of mocktails on the menu. We would absolutely come back and we would recommend Jax to our friends. We ate outside due to COVID so the restaurant's regular ambience wasn't the same, BUT - we were happy to be able to eat there!

Service and food are consistently on point. With one of us being GF, they were very accommodating with different menu options.

All I can say if you like oysters this is your place..

No options at all for plant based, Vegetarian or vegan. We had a reservation for 8pm and when we got there we still had to wait for more than 20 minutes, considering that we got there earlier and left our credit card number in the reservation so... If we were late I bet they would charged us. People were nice and polite but no options for plant based and food took so long that we were not hungry by the time it was ready.

Jax Fish House is the best seafood restaurant in Colorado. Period. I've been eating there for many years, but I have to say my last visit two days ago was the best I've ever had. The tables were nicely socially distanced and the waiters/waitresses were all wearing masks and being very respectful. I also watched my table get scrubbed down with disinfectant for a solid 3-5 minutes before we were seated. And did I mention the food was amazing?
