Fun energetic place for over priced mexican food and drink!
A+! Would definitely come back for more.
The food and service is always amazing here. It’s a tad loud with music, but still can have conversations. Our food did take a bit longer than normal to come out, but our waiter was great about letting us know it was coming and apologizing for the delay.
We were seated in the patio so the noise level was low and had a great dinner with their great cocktails 👌🏻 enchiladas de mariscos, ceviche ahí, lobster quesadilla
Good food. Good service. Interesting atmosphere. Pricey food and drinks. Just keep that in mind. SD has so many great Mexican places not sure you need to pay this much to find quality, delicious food.
The ambiance at Javier’s is always so beautiful, warm, and inviting; whether it be in Vegas or La Jolla. Food and drinks are top-notch. The decor is clean and unique. Servers are attentive and friendly. Always love coming here when I’m in town. It’s a must-go!
Wonderful atmosphere and food but still pretty pricey
It was our first visit with two other couples. The restaurant decor was amazing and the service was good. However, the food presentation was beautiful, the plate was very hot and the food was cold. We probably should have sent it back but we stayed quiet not to be difficult. The next day, I found out some of the other guests had cold food. I am returning on February 20th, and I will make it a point to mention this.
Food is good
Pork chop tomahawk not properly cooked (meat should rest more before served)
Very over priced mexican food that is fresh, but very bland. Extremely noise and drafty restaurant, very difficult to hear the person across the table. Beautiful interior, but the mosiac floor made my date trip twice. Very pretensions, horribly expensive and tequila selection is far from extensive, mostly the usual suspects. You are paying for an expensive, noisy interior with dumb downed mexican food with little flavor. Go to Robertos for better value
excellent food and service, pricey though. started with ceviche and taquitos, very good. then we went to salads.
Nothing special about this restaurant or the food. Very expensive for run of the mill Mexican food
very pricy, I will not frequent this restaurant average quality food and $18 margarita's I can do this at home
Beautiful lively spot to meet friends for dinner after an afternoon of shopping at UTC. Our table of 6 enjoyed a variety of margaritas, the guacamole, ceviche, mole chicken and all flavors of enchiladas. Stand outs were the seafood enchiladas, pork chop, and mole chicken. Guacamole was small for the price, and we needed to order 3 for our table. Caution for those hard of hearing- place is LOUD. My husband couldn’t hear any of the conversations (years of swimming) so it was difficult to fully enjoy the evening.
Loved the environment. We celebrated a birthday.
You get to a point where Mexican food isn’t worth the high price
Very familiar with Javier's from one the Las Vegas location, so I was very excited when they put one here in San Diego. I came from celebrate my birthday with 8 other people and we were not disappointed. I was running a little late for my reservations, but when I called the hostess told me, not too worry we were ok. Once we were seated, the servers were very efficient, food and drinks were amazing. All around such a great time and will definitely be back again.
Everything was very good, however, the music over our heads was so loud we couldn’t have any kind of conversation and could barely hear our server. A rather expensive dinner with no real conversation. That part was disappointing. I can understand loud in the bar area. That is to be expected.
I would recommend this restaurant but be prepared for it to be very loud and have to deal with UTC parking unless you go to the valet. Going to the valet will make going to the restaurant easy.
The server was attentive & very helpful with meal recommendations. The enchiladas in mole was delicious. The restaurant has a lively vibe.
Great service! Great meal!
Food was really good but VERY overpriced for Mexican, especially in San Diego where Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen. Went because we wanted to go to the one in Vegas and had opportunity while in San Diego. We had the beef taquitos which were really good and 6 - for an appetizer that was a good portion. We also shared chicken enchiladas which were also a huge portion. Other menu items were very pricey and didn't seem worth it. but the service was great, atmosphere beautiful and a fun evening.
Birthday celebration... beautiful setting... yummy food... good service... great evening!
Found it to be good but not that good, highly over rated. Sat in a corner where there was a wall curvature enclosing several booths thus creating high Voice reverb. We could actually hear the conversation of 3 tables away from ours better than our own conversation. Very odd acoustics. Nothing we will come back to.
Great food & atmosphere
Food and beverage is never disappoints at Javier's, but sometimes service can. With reservations at 8pm for 5, 4 of us arrived but one has hit a snag with traffic and was running late. Javier's policy is not to sit a party if they all haven't arrived. We had a movie time to meet and despite asking and saying that we would place the order together in advance of our person arriving, they said no. Then 30 minutes later they allowed us to sit, just when we were going to walk out the door. They placed us at a table in the bar that was open the entire time. Despite informing our server, our meal took exceptionally long to deliver and we had to find her to pay our bill.
When you first walk into Javier’s you will be amazed by the decor. The place is beautiful. The night that we went it was cold outside. We ask the hosted to seat us somewhere warm and we got a table near the fire place outside. The outdoor patio was warmer than inside because of all the heaters on the patio and the wall of doors in the restaurant were open to the patio. Their chips and salsa are great. Margaritas are overpriced ($13-$20 for an 8 ounce glass). It’s better to go with a beer or glass of wine. Music was way to loud for a restaurant. It sounded more like you were in a club. But maybe that is their intention. For that reason only I may never go back. The food is average. Be aware some dishes come with white rice instead of Spanish rice like the shrimp tacos I ordered. They did however get me spanish rice after I got my dinner. The shrimp tacos were ok. I have had better at other restaurants so I probably wouldn’t order them again. You could get the same food in most Mexican restaurants only cheaper. Service is so-so. Our waitress came over every five minutes after we got our drinks to see if we were ready to order, which made me feel like they were trying to turn over the table quicker.
When I first walked in the doors to Javiers I was blown away by the decor and design. This place was done to the max! I approached the hostess area and neither hostess was very welcoming. Neither girl smiled nor made us feel welcomed. Once my coworker and I were seated our waiter saved the day with his warm, welcoming approach. The service was top notch and the food was incredible. Other than the man sitting behind me being obnoxiously loud and the fact that we ourselves had to practically yell to hear one another the dinner was a 10 🙌🏻
Javier’s is always a great experience! We have been to all locations! Wish they would open one in Temecula
Close friends gathering
It was very great and will be back soon
We took some friends that came from out of the country there. We had a great table, it was a bit loud and we had a hard time hearing each other but we always remember that the restaurant is fairly energetic and lively. The food was amazing, the service was fantastic.
Drinks were great, food was solid, but service was the definition of meh. We felt pushed to order and pushed to finish/pay. I also noted when I made the reservation that we were celebrating a multitude of life events and no one even mentioned it or congratulated us.
I ate the a plate with 3 different seafood and all of them were good shrimp taco, enchiladas de carne and other thing soo good
Javiers lives up to its reputation. I was blown away by the ambiance and the decor. The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the guacamole for the table and it was so fresh. I ordered the lobster enchilada and beef taco with rice and beans. It was fantastic. I can’t wait to go back.
Javier's is fantastic Mexican food. The restaurant, service, atmosphere, and food is outstanding. My tips: Park in Valet or lot where the old Norstroms used to be, Order a Javier's Margarita, and do the "La Tablita" - Steak and Prawns. It's on the pricey side but worth it.
Very good classic Mexican food. The sea food is definitely the highlight. Margaritas are very good but on the pricey side. Not a good place for people on per diem. The refuse to split checks! Oh the fries were terrible we sent them back
First I would like to start off with the positive: customer service, ambiance, scenery was on par with any upscale restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was cold and bland. We order the Tablita. I am used to tablas, carne asada and arrachera from México and know it won’t always be as authentic. However, there are a few restaurants in the US that can come close at least 70%. The margaritas were delicious however. I may return to give it another shot but definitely order something else. Perhaps their speciality is Mexican seafood since most of the menu consists of that.
