We visit this location quite a bit. The food is always good, and so is the service. This visit the 6-12-21 the service was horrible, waiter/bartender was rude when we asked for the house tequila. He never wrote any items down resulting in our entire order being wrong and had to be remade. Total disappointment
Our server Donato was beyond. He was incredibly friendly, timely and helpful in choosing our meals. He is a great asset and representation of your restaurant.
It was just ok. The queso was tasty and our server was great but the food and drinks were overall mediocre
The outdoor seating was pleasant and far from the crowds...the restaurant was very responsive to my request to seat us in a corner. The margaritas were excellent, but the food was mediocre We were three people and no one really liked it. So that was disappointing.
Definitely overbooked reservations and staff was overwhelmed. Did not have enough outside tables for those who made outside reservations and you could tell they were panicking. Tried to seat us inside without acknowledging we were reserved for outside until I said something —felt pressured to go in. Finally sat outside and was reminded continuously about the timeline which I didn’t see other tables told about, yet it wasn’t my fault they didn’t have a table for me.
The table next to me also had a medical emergency which was very alarming. 911 was called. On top of the general personal concern for the other guests, it did delay our ordering which didn’t seem to phase the staff. It was also weird that the table with the medical emergency was presented a check before they left. Their meal should have been comped. It was very weird.
service was slow but the food was good and a fun atmosphere
Drinks were good. Food didn’t really taste like the meat was marinated in anything just meat thrown into some tortillas with some okay sauce….just tasted kind of bland for $16 tacos (2 tacos for this price). Probs wouldn’t go back, which is a shame bc I really wanted to like it
Our service was great
Feels very cold inside. No wine glasses for 13$ wine per glass.
Food was a bit too salty and the queso was lacking a some flavor. Overall food was average. Jalapeño marg was not spicy at all.
My new go to place for Mexican!! Loved it!!!
This is always my favorite place to meet up with my fellow ex Texan friends . It reminds us so much of home and takes the edge off of homesickness especially when traveling home this year hasn’t been an option. Thank you for everything you do !
We will be back
Food was absolutely delicious - the staff was incredibly friendly and great COVID precautions were taken throughout our time at Javelina (QR Code Menues, great mask wearing by staff, socially distanced outdoor tables)
Good food and queso, but worst margarita of my life
The BEST texmex in nyc!!! I’m from Dallas and it tastes exactly like home. Will be coming back again and again and again
Incredible food, best Tex mex in the city. Love it.
White queso for the win always!
Everyone from the host to our server was super friendly and made for a great meal out. Thanks so much for being a consistently wonderful restaurant!
~ I live for Javelina queso and fajitas! Best in town and great service as always!
love javelina. great margs, great tacos, great queso
The best queso in nyc
This has become like a home away from home. Great food. Great staff. And just the right vibe for Tex-Mex.
My friend and I just got our second vaccines and it was his birthday so we decided to safely treat ourselves to our favorite spot in NY . We are both from Austin and this place always reminds us of home !
Another excellent dinner at this lovely island of Tex-Mex goodness in the middle of NYC
We sat outside and the heaters weren't very strong; we were cold within an hour with coats on. The waiter was a bit slow, but overall we had a good experience. The food, as always, was delicious!
Amazing service, food, and drinks! We sat outside on a chilly night and were warm with their heaters! Amazing queso and enchiladas
Freezing! Heaters did absolutely nothing
This is the third time we have been to Javelina since the lockdown started and the fifth time altogether. Every time the staff is so kind and always gets everything right. They are very understanding when I tell them about my food allergies. And the food is absolutely always delicious. The outdoor dining is as comfortable as it can be during these cold nights. The heater was just right, not too hot at all and kept us warm. I highly recommend Javelina!
Great place for brunch
Great service and great food!!
Service was great, and food was delicious. Highly recommend the queso! We sat outside in 30 degree weather and we were completely warm with all the heaters they had set up!
Food was great as usual. The outdoor space was cold. The wind was not blocked. Also, there was no beer :(
Great place for TexMex
I have been here at least 15 times before since it’s opening and this was by far my worst experience. I’m trying to give everyone the benefit of the doubt given external circumstances but this experience warrants feedback. We were the first table to arrive and be seated at 12pm outside. The tables were far apart, clean and the QR code menu was easy to use. Would have liked to see some space heaters as it’s definitely cold out now. Our server was actually the only server and also the bartender for the first 45 mins of service. During this time, 18-20 other patrons sat down and he was doing his best to keep up but it would have been impossible for anyone. What this meant for us though was that while we were able to quickly order our drinks and queso appetizer, in the next 30+ minutes without anyone checking in on us we finished our chips but had more queso which ended up getting cold/hard and we still hadn’t placed our main course order yet. We finally got the attention of the busboy (he was busting his butt too) and asked for more chips and if there was any way to receive a small amount of fresh queso (we didn’t expect a whole new bowl as we had eaten half of it). He ended up bringing the same dish back and it was clear they had just heated it in the microwave - which made it taste awful and I’m not sure it’s even sanitary to do so. 10 mins later we got the attention of a second server who had just arrived to place our main course order and a second round of drinks. The main course, chicken and steak fajitas, came out soon after and tasted amazing as usual. The real downfall here was the service but what bothered me the most was the manager. Her overall attitude was apathetic at best - from the moment we got there when she “greeted” us by having us just stand around instead of letting us sit while she put more tables and chairs out - to the minute we left. She rarely chipped in to help the server/bartender, which as a former server, really bothered me.
We ate outside and at least three homeless people came up to our table and actually reached over and tried taking our food -- I've never had that happen at a restaurant before and no one at the restaurant did anything about it.
Food was wonderful, staff great. Sat outside, as NYC'ers do, and it was great. The safety situation was good, with plenty of space between tables on a street (not ave). Noise info of course is not relevant right today :-)
Get the steak and sour cream enchiladas! SO GOOD. As a Texan living in NYC, good Mexican food is really hard to find. This place exceeded all my expectations!
Great staff And still the best Tex next in nyc!
Great outdoor dining!
