You just cant beat the crispy ground beef tacos, or the queso with chorizo, or the home made flour tortillas, or the Margaritas. The servers are always welcoming, friendly and helpful. It's always worth the ride up from TriBeCa for NYC's best Tex-Mex.
One of my favorite spots in the neighborhood. Reliably delicious tex-mex!
Great service great food
This place has some
Of the best Tex-mex in NYC - fajitas and queso!!!!! yaaaaassss
good food - got so full on the apps though -- guacamole amazing!
everything was great!
Great food and service.
Seriously, this place is like a second home. My friend and I always come and everyone is absolutely amazing. Shout out to Dre and the staff!
Amazing tacos, just like being in Mexico. Individual portion sizes and priced accordingly.
Our second time there (visiting NYC) and will go again in our next trip to the city.
Great food and atmosphere
Such a good spot. We loved every bite…and sip. A++
Birthday dinner. Sat a few minutes early which was great but didn’t see a waiter for almost half an hour after sitting. Had to flag down a food runner to put in a drink and appetizer order. Didn’t see our actual waiter until almost an hour after sitting. Good runner and hostess were great though.
Javelina has been our go-to for a while! We love it and went a lot pre-COVID. Last night was the first time back after having ordered delivery a bunch. Sadly last night was filled with lots of misses. First off, the wait staff was super rude. He kept throwing the items down, which was very aggressive. As a former server, I get that there is short staffing in the food industry, but that doesn't mean you need to be rude. Then the wrong meal was brought out. I told the food runner it was incorrect, and then in less than a minute, he brought back the salad. They essentially took the chicken from the first salad and placed it on a bed of greens. The salad had barely any other toppings - legit greens, 1-2 pecans, and chicken from the other salad they just took off. The chicken had the cheese on it from the first salad - there was no cheese in the salad I was supposed to get. I had to wait a while for him even to come over to explain the situation. The wait to even tell the waiter about the issue took so much time my partner was already halfway through his meal. They did remedy the situation by making a new one to go and taking the salad off the bill. We did appreciate that, but after that, the server barely came over anymore.
We are hoping they work out their kinks with staffing shortages or whatever was going on last night. We will return and I do recommend it, but it was a super bummer expecting the Javelina's we've come to love over the past 6 years of being open.
We visit this location quite a bit. The food is always good, and so is the service. This visit the 6-12-21 the service was horrible, waiter/bartender was rude when we asked for the house tequila. He never wrote any items down resulting in our entire order being wrong and had to be remade. Total disappointment
Our server Donato was beyond. He was incredibly friendly, timely and helpful in choosing our meals. He is a great asset and representation of your restaurant.
It was just ok. The queso was tasty and our server was great but the food and drinks were overall mediocre
The outdoor seating was pleasant and far from the crowds...the restaurant was very responsive to my request to seat us in a corner. The margaritas were excellent, but the food was mediocre We were three people and no one really liked it. So that was disappointing.
Definitely overbooked reservations and staff was overwhelmed. Did not have enough outside tables for those who made outside reservations and you could tell they were panicking. Tried to seat us inside without acknowledging we were reserved for outside until I said something —felt pressured to go in. Finally sat outside and was reminded continuously about the timeline which I didn’t see other tables told about, yet it wasn’t my fault they didn’t have a table for me.
The table next to me also had a medical emergency which was very alarming. 911 was called. On top of the general personal concern for the other guests, it did delay our ordering which didn’t seem to phase the staff. It was also weird that the table with the medical emergency was presented a check before they left. Their meal should have been comped. It was very weird.
service was slow but the food was good and a fun atmosphere
Drinks were good. Food didn’t really taste like the meat was marinated in anything just meat thrown into some tortillas with some okay sauce….just tasted kind of bland for $16 tacos (2 tacos for this price). Probs wouldn’t go back, which is a shame bc I really wanted to like it
Our service was great
Feels very cold inside. No wine glasses for 13$ wine per glass.
Food was a bit too salty and the queso was lacking a some flavor. Overall food was average. Jalapeño marg was not spicy at all.
My new go to place for Mexican!! Loved it!!!
This is always my favorite place to meet up with my fellow ex Texan friends . It reminds us so much of home and takes the edge off of homesickness especially when traveling home this year hasn’t been an option. Thank you for everything you do !
We will be back
Food was absolutely delicious - the staff was incredibly friendly and great COVID precautions were taken throughout our time at Javelina (QR Code Menues, great mask wearing by staff, socially distanced outdoor tables)
Good food and queso, but worst margarita of my life
The BEST texmex in nyc!!! I’m from Dallas and it tastes exactly like home. Will be coming back again and again and again
Incredible food, best Tex mex in the city. Love it.
White queso for the win always!
Everyone from the host to our server was super friendly and made for a great meal out. Thanks so much for being a consistently wonderful restaurant!
~ I live for Javelina queso and fajitas! Best in town and great service as always!
love javelina. great margs, great tacos, great queso
The best queso in nyc
This has become like a home away from home. Great food. Great staff. And just the right vibe for Tex-Mex.
My friend and I just got our second vaccines and it was his birthday so we decided to safely treat ourselves to our favorite spot in NY . We are both from Austin and this place always reminds us of home !
Another excellent dinner at this lovely island of Tex-Mex goodness in the middle of NYC
We sat outside and the heaters weren't very strong; we were cold within an hour with coats on. The waiter was a bit slow, but overall we had a good experience. The food, as always, was delicious!
Amazing service, food, and drinks! We sat outside on a chilly night and were warm with their heaters! Amazing queso and enchiladas
