Café
Serving the best artisan coffees and traditional food made with love and delivered with first class service. That has continued to be our mission since our inception in 2012. The concept for Java Nation came to creation when a local resident realized an absence for a great cup of coffee in the community. Beyond our focus to serve freshly roasted coffee to our local community, we source local produce, use environmentally friendly products, and support work from local artists.

Good live band although very loud, difficult to converse over dinner. Food was pricey, not very tasty. Service was very slow.

We didn't eat, but enjoyed our beers and the vibe very much! We did come to enjoy the fantastic music but also to catch up--and it was too loud to hear each other easily. Nice setting for a summer evening--we'll definitely return.

Got friends together to see one of our favorite musician duos debuting at Java Nation (Bailey Drew & Dave Weber 🎶🎸). Sat outside by stage. The ambiance was wonderful and just beautiful sitting under the stars with the beautiful decor and love that Java Nation left tree in outside seating area! The food was delicious & took advantage of great Happy Hour menu. Loved their white sangria! Service was a little slow but was full house & our waitress did best she could! Highly recommend especially for outside dining & music!!

Java Nation is the best place for casual dining. During the pandemic, my boyfriend and I would eat breakfast outdoors there about twice a week. Often, we'd brave the near-freezing temperatures just to enjoy some of their delicious coffee, pastries, and food before work.

More recently, we went to Java Nation for dinner because I was intrigued by their margarita flight (offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays). They did not disappoint! We sat outside, enjoyed our drinks, and ordered some great food - empanadas, tacos, and fries. Everything is reasonably priced and DELICIOUS. Our puppy also joined us, and he loved the experience! The staff there is so friendly and helpful. We cannot recommend this place enough!!

Our night was ruined by the incredibly loud music....typically, live music at Java Nation is loud enough to be enjoyable, but you're still able to carry on a conversation with your friends. Not last night! Very loud, even though we asked to be moved to the back of the dining room, it was impossible to have a conversation without shouting at each other.
Great place to go if you don't enjoy talking to your spouse! :)
Food is great, service is hit and miss, hostess is miserable and very unwelcoming.
We'll go back on another night when they don't have this particular performer.

I like the food and atmosphere at Java Nation. I've been twice now, and really appreciate the ample outdoor dining options. The service is ok, but JN seemed to be understaffed for a Saturday night crowd. Good thing we weren't in a hurry and the live music was entertaining. I enjoy their food, it's a good value. Will be coming back as long as outdoor seating remains an option.

California outside cafe/restaurant feel with live music on Rockville Pike right here in North Bethesda!

If you want someplace that feels like a comfy neighborhood hangout, with really good food and a friendly almost Key-West vibe, this is your place. I love the big covered patio (sometimes people are hanging out playing cards there, etc), and everything I've ever ordered has been delicious, especially the empanadas (best I've ever had). And while it is on Rockville Pike, it's set back, and is designed in a way that you really completely forget about the Pike. Also, I've been there twice when they had live music, and both times the singer/guitarists were great.

This was our first time at Java Nation. We are slowly beginning to eat out again. Your restaurant was perfect for that. And our waiter helped me with a selection of food. He was most pleasant and knowledgeable. You'll see us again.

Great, casual place where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee (or tea or stronger) without being pressured to order more.

If you do, the food is creative. And of all the COVID-inspired covered, warmed outdoor spaces, Java Nation got it right.

The experience was good even though I was sitting in the back of the room and would have liked to hear the music a lot more...My only concern is not with the restaurant but I am a professional performer and emailed Kristen about an opportunity to play there and haven’t heard back from her yet. Is she not the right person to contact?

Outside ambience was great for a spring night.
Food was uneven among the diners.
Service was spotty and perhaps covid is the reason.
Wouldn't go back for dinner but will try lunch or dinner.
$4 soda and no refill was expensive.

This was our first time to a restaurant since the pandemic began. Despite signs everywhere, customers did not heed the mask policy making for a very uncomfortable situation. The food was fair. The service was good. Please enforce the mask policy!

Our group of four were promptly seated and we ordered very quickly. The food that arrived was nicely presented and prepared. My Pear and Beet salad was delicious as were the other meals of soups and asparagus salad. As we ate the waiter staff checked on us often. We finished our meal and the live music started.

Then the wait began! We waited and waited to get our bill, then wait and waited fir them to bring back the bill so we could pay and leave. Over 40 minutes!!! Don’t know what happened to our wait staff.

Had outdoor seating! Thursday night was comedy night. Server was not very attentive; didn’t receive cutlery or napkins promptly. They closed early rather than their designated close time. It was my first visit but I will not be returning.

Java Nation is one of my fav restaurants in this area. The comedy show also was really good. However, it was so cold when we sat outside and the heater didn’t help a lot. We told the waiter that the heater was less of gas and was not warm. He promised he would change it soon. But it never happened. I think they were just too busy.

Glad they have more than coffee. Went for Happy Hour and it was comfortable enough in the tent. Full Bar. Good service, good food. Nice to find outdoor seating not overlooking a shopping center or parking lot.

It is a very good local cafe. However, the service was not as good as usual. The appetizers and entrees were brought at the same time and felt rushed. The attendance was also lacking. Friendly service, but perhaps inexperienced.
