Jasper's - Plano Ratings and Reviews
I have been there several times all of which were much better than our last visit. Their service was very uncharacteristically poor. Out of some food items that part of the group wanted but not told about until well after our the orders had been placed. A similar situation with wine. Just a very disappointing evening!
Jasper's is our family's top restaurant. We celebrated my birthday with our sons this weekend and we had an outstanding time. The waiter was attentive, knowledgeable and gracious and made our evening even more special. The food and the cocktails were extraordinary as usual. We recommend Jasper's to all of our friends and family. Thank you Jasper's for making our family memories even better!
I had the salmon which tasted wonderful but there was only about 4 ounces of it. I asked the waitress what the portion size was and she said it was 7 ounces.....i weigh all my food to enter into my fitness pal app and there is no freakin way that salmon was 7 ounces even if the weight included the skin. My companion ordered the same thing and had a small portion size as well. Overall I would not recommend this place if your looking for a great value or trying to eat clean.... The menu is mostly carnivore and only 2 seafood selections
Have eaten there numerous times, but for NY Eve they overbooked dining room, was seating in bar area, service was slow, food was lukewarm if not cold when brought out. Set meal, the waiter should have been more attentive.
We love at lunch and other times we have gone, were a little disappointed.
Usually one of my favorites, Jasper’s on NYE was an enormous and expensive disappointment. Service was pleasant but inattentive; I asked for a wine list 3 times before it arrived, our water glasses often went empty, the servers looked flustered. I was not aware that NYE was a fixed menu. As one who does not eat meat or poultry, I was disappointed I could not order the salmon off the main menu. The Branzini on the menu was made with chorizo and I was told there were no substitutions allowed. I guess everything was pre-made which would explain the low quality. I ended up with a plate of veggies which wasn’t bad, but not what I expected from Jasper’s. My date had the short ribs and said it was average at best.
With so many options in Plano, I will likely not return to Jasper’s. Sigh.
I have not problem paying $300 for a nice meal however the meal at Jasper’s fell extremely short of being a $300 meal. While the steak had a good flavor the potatoes were just so so and the so called “red wine” reduction basically tasted like barbecue sauce with a splash of wine. The dessert was one of the driest “toffee pudding” and it was obvious I didn’t care for it but no one bothered to ask me why i wasn’t eating My dessert. I did hear other waitstaff asking other tables if they liked their food. All in all it’s a nice place but not a romantic $300 dinner date place. Definitely not worth the money and very noisy.
Out meals tonight were perfectly prepared with fresh, flavorful ingredients. My wife loved the salmon and my pork tenderloin was perfectly paired with jalapeño corn. We finished with an amazing, buttery bundt cake on recommendation from our server. We had a great table overlooking the Christmas lights. This meal was consistent with past meals at Jaspers...and as expected, a great place to dine with friends.
Had our Christmas Eve dinner there. Service and ambiance was excellent! Just as we remembered. We’d been there twice. Once for a 50th party, where they had a set menu and once just for dinner! Enjoyed both.
On this occasion, neither of us really enjoyed our dinner. Mine was the veal special, served with the bone in a bowl on a huge bed of home style fries. Highly recommended by the waiter. It looked and tasted like it was cooked in a crockpot similar to a roast, not as good! My husband order the filet medium rare and it was served rare. He sent it back to be cooked as requested. He said, that it tasted just alright, he wasn’t impressed! The calamari was excellent! The Brussel sprouts were good but nothing special. Had some in Austin that were to die for. We probably won’t be going back! So many other restaurants in that area, for the same money and better food!
We came to jasper’s maybe with the wrong impression. We were looking for some upscale food and good service and that is definitely not what we received. I ordered the Parm crusted trout. My husband ordered a steak. And my father ordered the braised short rib with grits. The only person that enjoyed their plate was my husband. The breading on the trout was bland and very greasy. They also fried it with the skin on which I really do not understand. The braised short rib is okay, but the grits in the bottom are like a greasy glue. Just very unimpressed with everything we ordered. And to heighten the feeling of disappointment, our waiter seemed in a rush. His people skills were not there. He kept throwing awards and stats at us about the food. It was a big turn off considering how much we didn’t enjoy it. I will say the cocktails are good. Same goes for the dessert.
We had an unfortunate and very unprofessional service experience so will not be back. Restaurant management did not handle what took place during our meal. Also while ribs were still good, steaks we ordered were terrible. Very surprised by poor quality of the filet.
Too many other great options in the Plano area.
Thoroughly enjoyed dinner and pleased Jasper's has dusted off standards, once again executing well on all cylinders. Just this week I commented otherwise regarding previous two visits, glad our 12 year history continues on positive note.
Food was delicious and satisfying. Zina, our server, was eqaul portions of gracious, engaged and non intrusive. Happy New Year Jasper's!
I read through all of the reviews prior to us arriving. There were 4 of us and I was the only one who have not been prior. I read all about the fruit flies buzzing around, and it was true. After being in the restaurant business for years, typically they are from the bar area. Sweet Things not being cleaned up properly. We sat right by the bar and sure enough, there they were. That was the only hitch in the evening.
Two of us had the scallop and shrimp dish! OMG! Delicious! Othe two pork and short ribs. We were all so happy with our meals! Calamari and blue cheese potato chips were excellent as well.
Our server, Andrew gave the perfect level of service. Extremely attentive but always waited for the right moments to interject. The staff worked very well together. Everyone that touched our table was spot on and very nice!
We live in Southlake, so it was a little drive but worth it and we will be back!
Establishment was beautiful and very busy, so it must be a great place. The food was presented very well, yet could have used some seasoning. Only one person in the group of eight enjoyed their entree. On the other hand, the ranch chips appetizer was wonderful.
