Jasper's - Plano Ratings and Reviews
Went to Jaspers for my daughter’s birthday and everything was excellent. We were too full for dessert but the waitress brought my daughter a bowl of ice cream with Happy Birthday on the plate with a candle. It was a very sweet gesture. Thank you for a perfect night.
To preface this review, after our last bad experience the GM reached out and invited and encouraged us to come back with a gift card (the meal was not comped and there was nothing special done for our return). We are SO HAPPY that they reached out and that we gave them another shot. This meal was worlds better than our last trip here. We had cocktails, a bottle of wine, and a three course meal and were there about 2 hours. Our server, Monica, was personable, friendly and helpful when we were indecisive. There were a few lags in service but nothing terrible aside from our wine coming after our entrees we were hoping to enjoy it with. The hand crafted cocktails were well balanced and fantastic. The fall seasonal buffalo meatballs we had to start were surprisingly moist and I loved the sauce they were served with. Then we had the filet and the burger. The filet was the clear winner, although I had it with mac and cheese instead of the parsnip whippers. The red wine butter sauce was the perfect accompaniment to compliment the steak without overpowering the flavor. We finished the night with the dessert trio and couldn't decide which was our favorite. The atmosphere of the restaurant was upscale but comfortable and it was tastefully decorated for the holidays. We will definitely be back again!
I expected a different experience, we had read online bottomless mirmosa when asked about it we got looked at crazy and told no but that the waiter really didn’t know he was new but would ask , never got back with us about it . We were charged an extra $1.50 per drink not sure why , all our tickets were wrong , food was average and some under cooked, bugs flying around, I just expected a better experience with friends and brunch and we were very disappointed. I would of rather gone to chick fil a that’s how disappointing it was.
We did not have a waiter. We started off with one but then he disappeared. We then got a new waiter that introduced himself as not our waiter but I will help. He was a nice young man but still not our waiter. It took over 30 minutes to get a drink more than once. we were offered bread after we had ordered dessert. The manager never came by to see how everything was going. Poor service, not staffed adequately.
Excellent as always. Love the area in back by the fireplace. My friends and I always reserve a table back there at the holidays. Servers are very attentive and atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Perfect place for any celebration and occasion. Love Jasper’s!! One of my favorites.
This was honestly one of the most disappointing dining experience I have had in a long time. This was my first (and last trip to Jaspers).
Once we were seated I asked what beers they have on tap, as Jaspers has a selection of craft brews that make it difficult to tell what categories they fall into so I asked the server to explain what the different options are. After 15 minutes and 3 different people she finally was able to get descriptions of "most" of the options. The final one I was told "this one is new and I'm not sure" - sounds like Jaspers needs to do more education of the staff when new items are introduced
After taking 20 minutes to get our drinks we finally ordered our main entrees, with our mains a couple of us ordered salads to start. After another 45 minutes we needed to remind the server that we STILL hadn't received our salads, mine was so heavily covered in balsamic vinegar that it was inedible.
Finally after another 30 minutes our main entrees arrived. One of us had ordered the Fillet Medium, it came out not only well done, but overcooked to the point of being dried like a charcoal briquette. The manager quickly offered to replace it, and the 2nd time it came out acceptably prepared. The other entree items ordered (chicken and short ribs), were ok but nothing exciting.
I had high hopes for Jaspers and several friends of mine had recommended it, sadly my experience was nothing like theirs.
Restaurant is normally very good. Last time, food was great, as usual. Kitchen must have had a problem, because food was slow to arrive for some tables. This is not usual for Jasper's. Management came by several times to apologize for the slowness and hey provided a free appetizer of our choice. We will be back again.
It took almost 15 minutes to get water. Another 10 to get my glass of wine. Dining partner's salad was delivered incorrect, then took another 10 minutes to fix (it was a wedge!). Steaks were delivered mid-salad, and incorrect temp (his rare was medium well, my medium was medium rare) and no steak knife in sight. Once we finally got the steak knives, the quality of the beef was absolutely sub par, especially for a $40 steak. The last couple of times we've been at Jasper's it's not been as it used to be and I don't think I'll be back. We used to love this place!
I've really missed the Jasper's in Austin. Fortunately, I have friends in the DFW area and went up for a visit. I had to go to Jasper's. None of my friends had been before and they really enjoyed the food, so I'm sure they will return.
It was kind of funny, we didn't discuss what we were going to order but ended up with 2 options from the menu. The Backyard Brisket Cheeseburger was declared to be very good and the bun was a nice mix with different seeds on the top.
The Wood Grilled Port Tenderloin was very tender and moist. The corn had great flavor and the Peach BBQ sauce had a hit of heat that was more flavorful vs heat.
Looking forward to our next time.
The food and ambience were ok, it was a little bright for evening in the restaurant but it was ok. The service was terribly slow. We waited probably 20-30 minutes for our bottle of wine and another 15-20 min to order our entrees. I was disappointed after almost 45 min in the restaurant to hear the daily special was gone after I was sold on it. Had our order been taken more timely I may have received it. The waiter hardly checked on us all night. It was embarassing service for a business meeting. We wanted to take our time but not 2 1/2 hours overall time on a weeknight.
Unfortunately our experience at Jasper's did not live up to our expectations. We dined on a quiet Sunday evening. There were few patrons in the restaurant, our service was still slow and we often found ourselves looking around for our waiter. We ordered, received, and finished our appetizer and sat for an additional 15 minutes before we even received the first round of cocktails we ordered. We had to ask multiple times for items from the waiter. We were having a lighter dinner, so we ordered soup, chips, and pizza (all from the appetizer section of the menu). It took 30 additional minutes to get the food after finishing the appetizers. Our meal from start to finish for a couple appetizers took 2 hours. The food itself was mediocre at best. The soup wasn't hot and the pizza lacked flavor. We could of had a better meal at Chili's for 1/2 the price. The hostess was online shopping when we were standing at the front of the restaurant. She told us have a nice evening, but stayed and the computer online shopping rather than escorting us out or holding the door for us. This was once a favorite of mine. I'm sad to say that most likely we will not be returning to Jasper's.
