The chef's tasting menu was delicious. They accommodated all of our restrictions.
My husband and I wanted to celebrate our anniversary and we couldn't have found a better place: beautiful, great ambience, delicious food, elegant, impeccable and very kind service. Honestly, we recommend it and for sure we'll repeat more than once.
We’ve not gone to Jardiniere in a year because we became disenchanted. We decided to give it another shot. Disappointed. Never again.
This is a well established and well run restaurant with exceptional food and service. They have not lost their touch and the food was FANTASTIC. Started off with Caviar and Champagne, moved on to the Kumamoto Oysters with cold vodka and then had the salad and entree's. The Cavatelli and the Cod were * Five Stars all the way. Ended up with the cheese selection for 2 - OMG! All of this with a fantastic bottle of French Bordeaux. It was worth every penny and then some. Our server was excellent. Great choice for a nice dinner out!
Food wasn't as great as I was expecting, flank steak medium rear was too shewy, my partners chicken was dry.
Deserts were fabulous.
Selection of wine it's great, and the person who was presenting has great knowledge and very positive vibe.
Would go back for drink at the bar.
Excellent food; pricey
Wonderful warm bread salad! Nice selection of beers in addition to the fine wine list. Perfect for before events at War Memorial or Opera House
WE ATE HERE BEFORE A PERFORMANCE, WHEN ONLY THE PRE THEATER MENUE WAS AVAILABLE. THE CHOICES WERE UNINTERESTING NOT VERY GOOD. IT WAS A VERY AVERAGE MEAL AND RATHER PRICEY FOR THE CHOICES.
the food is good though sparse. server was pretentious and gave us little attention because we were not ordering cocktails or wine. on theater nights they only do fixed priced but nothing on the web site to let us know
As ever, the service is outstanding. Our server remembered to ask about our symphony at eight as well as asking about food allergies. The food is always creative and tasty. Well worth the price!
One of my favorite places when you are celebrating a birthday or anniversary.
Very romantic and impressed my date
I've been going there forever. Love it, love it. It is hard when you go before a performance. You can try all you can, but to really enjoy your meal and drinks, two courses without desert is best. They do a great job every time, but if you are going to a 7:30 opera, you either have to be there at 5:30 or you will be rushed a bit. Food is always incredible, from the warm bread salad to the short ribs! Great service, they know us and treat us like gems!
The evening was delightful. Our waiter and the rest of the wait staff
were all gracious and responsive. The food was soooo goooood.
Even they called when one of our party lost a teddy bear pin.
As always, delicious food and wine, very learned wine waiter, the only downside was that the servers' shifts seemed to have changed midway through the pre-theater dinner so it took quite a while for the food to appear, which may have been why a very nice tiny cup of soup arrived.
The new prix fixe menu during performance season is quite nice. Thoughtful choices so that, even though more limited that the regular dinner menu, there is something for everyone. And all courses are executed with the same expertise and care that Jardiniere has always been known for. Nice wine list.
We had early reservations on a weekday ahead of the SF Symphony 730pm performance. Been many times as such. I was surprised that they only had a prix fixe menu before 7pm. Full menu after 7pm. As recently as June 2018 the full menu was always available. I was disappointed at not having the choices. We did the three course (soup/salad..., main, dessert). My friend and I chose different items (squash soup/salad, spareribs/chicken, apple tart/chocolate crunch). The meal was extrodinary. Every bite was to be saviored! The best meal my friend ever had. One of the best meals I ever had! We couldn't help but rave over each bite! At a reasonable cost too.
The waiter explained they move to this during the 5pm - 7pm period was to accommodate the concert crowd. It put less pressure on the kitchen to get things out resulting in less waiting, and in my view better quality. I agree. I've been to Manresa (3 star Michelin, Los Gatos). This was way better!!
Pre-fixe menu is a welcome option for long time patrons. Disappointed that the warm bread salad was almost devoid of the Crescenta cheese.
They serve a theater menu, prix fixe, two or three courses, on days there is event at the concert hall or opera house. The menu is limited on these days, and further limited by a $35 surcharge for one of the first courses, and $65 for one of the main courses. The food is imaginative and well prepared. The wine by the glass is poured from the bottle. My wife and I were not happy with a rather skimpy pour (clearly less than four ounces), and even more chagrined to see a different waiter pour at least 50% more for a couple at an adjacent table.
Good food. Small portions for $ but very high quality. Exactly what I expected.
Epic service. Chef’s tasting menu off the charts.
Always love our visits and our meals! Great service and ambiance. Always a delight before the symphony
We hadn’t been there in awhile and it didn’t disappoint!! Food was delicious, ingredients fresh and interesting, and the menu diverse. Service was a little spotty but staff were very gracious. Only complaint was where we sat, restaurant was half-empty yet they sat us near the kitchen where we could hear staff coming and going. We will be back!!
The restaurant is fantastic and the food is much more European in the way it is poritioned. Lovely ingredients and taste of the food is superb. Great for a lovely meal be careful the wine is huge and some very expensive wines.
The service at Jardiniere puts every other restaurant to shame! When our guest thought his dish was too spicy for his taste he did not complain directly to our waiter. However, one of the "captains" had observed his dilemma and persisted in a lovely manner until our friend finally accepted another dish!
thank you for treating your guests as I would at my home!
Definitely one of the top and best restaurants in San Francisco’s
We had the pre-theatre menu.
My food: The warm bread salad was very plain. Nothing I could have not very easily done at home. The fish dish - black cod - was bland. The yuzu dessert (I shared it with my partner) and the peppermint tea were outstanding. The pinot blanc, fine.
Service and Ambiance: Excellent
Value: $102 per person, including tip, seemed pricey
Good food, excellent service but very overpriced. There are many more affordable options in the area with equally good food.
We had a fantastic dinner with friends we hadn't seen in a long time. Just happened to run into them at this wonderful restaurant before we all went to the doctor
My meal was delicious and the service was outstanding.
Jardiniere has been on my wish list for about 25 years. I finally made it there and the restaurant went beyond my expectations. The food was artfully prepared, especially the persimmon salad, the ambience was terrific, and the waitstaff very attentive. Couldn't ask for more.
Too overpriced for food that was just OK. Really regretted choosing that restaurant over others. I paid $89 for a starter, main, and desert and at that price I should have left filling it was worth it, but it absolutely was not!
The food was excellent and the service impeccable, if a bit slow. Friendly place, well worth the price.
Although we are visitors, this is our 4th or 5th visit to Jardiniere.
Our previous impressions were excellent. However, this time, two things
1-We were ushered to a table with no table-cloth.
Changed the table with our own efforts.
2-Though the service was good at the beginning
when there were few people. then as the restaurant
got crowded, we waited 10 minutes for the second drink.
10 minutes for the bill to be taken care of.
3-As for the kitchen,30 minutes waiting between the starter
and the main course.
Everything was terrific. Service was stupendous! It’s rare to find wait staff so professional and nice; responsive at just the right moments. Not too much or too little. Thank you for a lovely experience.
Great food & service was great as well. Came for date night with my boyfriend and we both enjoyed the cocktails and the food. We would definitely go back and try the tasting menu!
The entree portions were very small for the steak and chicken. We were hungry very soon after dinner.
Everything was good but I got the flank steak and absolutely could not chew it. Just swallowed it anyway.
Outstanding pre-theatre menu and value for an iconic San Francisco restaurant. With proximity to several performance venues, they have formalized pre-theatre dining and made it a very nice experience. The staff is attentive and engaging without being obtrusive, the sommelier was personable and genuinely part of making the meal an enjoyable experience and maybe introduce new wines, while readily understanding the amount of detail to provide for the particular diner.
I have rediscovered Jardiniere in the past few months. The food is consistently excellent, and the atmosphere is wonderful - quite, intimate, aesthetically gorgeous interior, lovely waitstaff who are attentive and friendly, comfortable. Their signature cocktails are creative but not in your face. I go there often these days for business dinners and my colleagues always appreciate that I suggested it.
