Sorry but have to write this: a wine list that is completely overpriced. We are being served by the sommolier who opened our second bottle, let us taste the bottle in new glasses, great, and next he grabs the old glass and poors that into the new glass. This man does not deserve the title of sommolier. Never again!
Outstanding food and service. Awfully rxpensive.
Excellent experience all around. Food was outstanding, wine was delicious and service was awesome. Master somm and waitress were personable and knowledgeable.
It has been a couple of years since we have been to Jardiniere and wanted to try it again since it is such a lovely place
We arrived early and were accommodated nicely, since we had tickets to the ballet. The oysters, Champagne, foie gras with Sauternes, duck, Russian River Pinot and the chocolate dessert were all superb, and our waiter and the sommelier and others were helpful without imposing themselves. This is our fourth visit and we will doubtless return.
Food is outstanding with lots of flavor, texture, and depth. Good wine selection. Service is great while the noise level can be much depending on where seated. Conversation of other patrons seems to travel. In all, highly recommend fine dining, great date night, and good value compared to similar priced restaurants in the area.
Service was lovely. Our meal was divine.
Good food! Just wanted to have better desert options
Service was so slooooow for us. Had to remind them I’d ordered wine, ask for a dinner roll (not offered), etc. Pur waiter was nice, but seemed preoccupied by the tables around us (where he was attentive). Didn’t ask how food was or check on us at all. The food was disappointing. I ordered the chicken after seeing it ordered at table next to us. My plate looked like I received somebody’s leftovers! The greens were missing and piece of chicken was teeny tiny. So odd. I also had ordered a side of polenta, but I found it tasted funky. Maybe it had some truffle oil going on, but this was not mentioned on menu. The almond cake was very good. In addition to all this, unfortunately we were two tables away from a very drunk man who would yell profanities (political in nature) and other rude conversation. No one at the restaurant did anything about this, and I thought they should have. It was yelling above the din and meant to attract attention and to offend. I didn’t appreciate this sort of ambiance. So... all in all, sorely disappointed. I had remembered this restaurant for 15 years (the last time I was here), and was so eager to return with my boyfriend. Based on this visit, I do not plan to return or recommend.
delicious food, good service, tons of vegetarian options (even if they are not on the menu). A bit pricey for the food quality,
One of the best meals I've ever eaten in my life - and I say this after having meals in Michelin-star restaurants all over the world. This place was fantastic - from the cocktails to the wine to the service to the end-to-end meal (including coffee and dessert). Loved it!
Perfect restaurant to attend before the symphony. Great service and great food. We’ll be back for sure
The food was good but the service was really slow - especially the wait for our entrees. Luckily we had allotted plenty of time before our show. I also felt that they were a little snooty about the corkage. I brought a very good bottle of wine and always check the wine list ahead of time to make sure what I bring is not on their list. The $40 corkage was not a problem but both my wife and I thought they were a little condescending the way they acted and we have been to a lot of great restaurants over the years.
Food duck was excellent, service was very good.
Food quite good, but not up to past experiences. Winter veg soup was blah. Companion said duck felt like it had been under heat lamp, rather dry. Took 30 minutes to be waited on! Missed past dessert of various small treats. For $, not great.
Have been to this restaurant before a few years ago. Enjoyed it then!!
We weren’t disappointed this time either.
Fantastic. Consistently. Stellar service. We asked for something special, because this was a special occasion. A tasting menu was formed on the spot. All was superb. An epic dining experience for an epic celebration.
We four celebrated a friend's milestone birthday. We had a wonderful, semi-private table to the left of the entrance, so it was lively around us, but we were able to enjoy each other's company, and nothing disrupted our dining experience. The Old Fashioned was ordered and praised, and the rye manhattan straight up with bitters was smooth and most satisfying. The little gem salads were excellent, as were the duck and short rib entrees; the short rib was so tender, it melted in one's mouth. Even the Acme bread rolls were wonderful. The chocolate pave for dessert was incredible, and the red Mencia wine paired perfectly with the entrees. The service was excellent, attentive but not rushed. The valet parking is a great plus. I would very much like to dine at Jardiniere again.
Consistently excellent restaurant; knowlegdeable waitstaff, creative ingredients, great service
I’ve been a fan of Jardiniere for 2 decades, and always wonder why we don’t go more often. Not tonight, thpugh. The food was adequately prepared but utterly uninspired and downright bland. This classic restaurant needs a shake-up if it wants to retain its old glory.
This is a great restaurant, but beware that when you are dining pre-performance, all the other diners have the same curtain time and things can be a bit hectic and disorganized and food may not be up to the restaurant's usual standards (some of our food was overcooked). If you want to savor your food and have a really good experience, go after the concerts/ballets start.
Birthday celebration for our daughter
It’s a rarity to find a high quality, elegant restaurant within walking distance to the city’s cultural gems: the Symphony, ballet and opera.....where one can actually have any conversation without having to shout. Although it closes at 10:30 on a Saturday night, they allowed us to stay until midnight without rushing us out, unlike a nearby restaurant which took our late reservation, only to find that they had closed early!
The service and my food were good but the rest of my group's food (the chicken) didn't really live up to our expectations. It wasn't bad, but considering the restaurant's we kind of expected a little better.
Really nice dining experience. Waiter was knowledgeable about everything to help us make the right selections. We were not rushed at all which I appreciated. Expensive but reasonable value. I would go back.
Mom’s 70th birthday celebration! Couldn’t have asked for any place better. :-) Thank you.
Very nice evening. Great food, service and ambiance. There were a lot of vegan options for our guest.
Excellent menu, well-trained staff, fantastic wine pairings. Jardiniere is the right place to go when you want to eat something special.
Very nice and fancy restaurant. The food is very good but don't order Duck, it was too rare. Their chicken is amazing. The staff is very stiff not very warm. No eye contact. Location is great if you are going to see a ballet or symphony.
This was the worst dining experience in memory - from appetizer through coffee. Menu required multiple Wikipedia and dictionary consultations partly because waiter's attitude towards our questions was a put-down. Crab appetizer was a few scraps of crab with a deep fried very oily fish chip. My entree was a reasonably textured but tasteless chicken breast on truffles with bread sauce. My companion had a vegetarian dish that wasn't on the menu but the waiter picked up on her questions and offered that dish. It was "okay." When I asked for the wine list again the waiter flipped it onto the table without looking at us and kept right on going to another table. The meals were so disappointing that dessert was out of the question. I ordered coffee - it tasted old. When no refill was offered I had to request one; it was lukewarm and tasted like the stuff from coffee machines in the student lounge where they haven't cleaned the machine since it was installed.
This experience was especially painful because my friend, who was visiting me from out of town, wanted to treat me to a very good restaurant of my choosing. She was aware of how appalled I was and tried to comfort me by saying that someday we would both laugh about this dinner. I'm not laughing yet.
