Jardiniere Ratings and Reviews
the food and atmosphere are outstanding. Our server could NOT have been more disconnected - took our order; others delivered the food and kept our water filled; "Ojoly" was his name - NEVER asked how our meal was the only time he checked in was to see if I wanted more wine. My guest asked "is there something wrong with him". Either NOT trained well or certainly not suited for this caliber of restaurant. I' m sure my 11% tip must have struck a chord but he might have just thought I was cheap. HORIBLE server.
Really beautiful restaurant with classy atmosphere and quality food. The only thing that was a bit off was the portion size. We ended up ordering another appetizer after our meals. Thought the pasta portion was small. Also we had an 8 o'clock showing at the theater and they were insistant that we get out of the restaurant quickly
I consider myself a foodie but was definitely disappointed in my new years eve experience with Jardiniere. I've never been one to complain about the price of a good meal if its worth it but aside from the service, this experience just fell flat. $250 per person for pre fixe? Listen.. I get that it was NYE but $250? My biggest qualm is that I wasn't told this upon booking the reservation on open table. I personally called to confirm the reservation 2 days before NYE and it was sprung up on me. I was told that I needed to make the decision whether or not i'd be attending since it was within the 72 hour cancellation window. Excuse me... I was never told about this outrageously priced meal ahead of time. Bill came out to $1,300 for 4 people. Worth is? No. Would I go back? Maybe if it wasn't pre fixe.
I’ve fined at Jardinière many times over many years. Always with great anticipation. It’s such a pretty restaurant.
Service was excellent as always. And the wine list remains creative and vigorous.
But the food. It’s mediocre. As other reviewers have noted, it’s not creative and seems uninspired.
We had the crab appetizer a soup, the duck and the petrale.
Except for the soup ( random vegetable concoction that seemed oily with an unappetizing green color) the food was okay. But at these prices it just has to be better.
Went to dinner with my wife and everything was exelent. The food and service was perfect, especially the caviare! However, I do have a complaint. It was my wife's birthday, our bill with tip was about $ 400, we splerged needless to say. I was able to over look the $5 charge for sparkling in-house made water, but after each ordering a 13 dollar dessert, she also received a tiny bit sized cheeze cake for her birthday, literally one bit. We were charged $1.50 for it. Wow, thats all I have to say. I take my money seriously and go out to eat quite a bit. I did not say anything due to it being my wife's birthday. Even for San Francisco that's a little ridiculous
Prix fixe menu no longer exists. Remaining Menu was limited and uninspired. Sadly this used to be my favorite restaurant. I had no problem paying almost $200 per person. This most recent visit the only thing that remained special was the price. I got short ribs and they were mushy. Salad had huge pieces with an oily bland and bitter dressing. Very inelegant. I ordered hot tea and a refill was never offered. Wine list and sommelier was very good. Great LaSalle Champagne. We won’t be back as my overall impression is that this is a restaurant well past its prime living off of its great reputation.
The business model of this restaurant needs updating. It doesn't seem sustainable because the food, while specially sourced and lovingly prepared, is not exceptional given the price. I longed for more flavor. That said, it was very agreeable and the attention from the service staff was very good. The bar scene seemed like more fun.
