Jardiniere was busy on this Sunday night. We celebrated a birthday with warm acknowledgement from the staff. Started with the charcuterie. Really enjoyed the spaghetti with oysters and bottarga ( my star dish) and the black cod with chanterelle and lentils. Apple galette for dessert was fine.

We ate at the bar on a Friday night. We eat in the dining room fairly often but the bar is a great change of pace - same great food but lots of buzz and fun activity in a gorgeous venue, excellent service - all good!

We requested for a table, one where we normally sit, but it was given away. We want to be sure that we get the same table as we made the request two week ago when we were there. We sat that table just about every time we dined there. Also, I confirmed my request when I was called to confirm my reservation.
The staff was otherwise cordial and was helpful to attend to our needs. They were informed that we would need to leave in time for a pre-concert talk. We ordered deserts and coffee. Deserts timely arrived. When we finished our deserts the coffee had not yet arrived. The coffee was canceled as it was time to leave. As we left the host graciously apologized to for the inconvenience.

I would describe Jardiniere as the perfect third date restaurant. The ambiance is elegant, welcoming, and romantic. The service is absolutely incredible! We were treated like royalty from the moment we walked in the door. I ordered the chicken, and we were presented with complimentary mushroom tea. Both were absolutely divine, and it was apparent they were prepared with love. The seasonal sorbet is a must! I will be returning, I just need to go on a first and second date :)

Outstanding food and good service; as usual. Always a struggle to get a reservation on opera/symphony nights.

I love to eat here before the opera or symphony and have never been disappointed. The food and service are always impeccable and the atmosphere is fabulous. They are very conscious of show times and make sure the food Is out promptly and you're ready to go well before curtain. It's part of a perfect evening.

while we have dined at Jardiniere many times, we found the menu restricted and less appealing than historically... no simple salads, severely limited entree choices (one outrageous beef option)...

Excellent fine dining. Combinations off the chart & the service is always top notch. Our waiter, Rob, was a delight and the wine selection for our entrees ... job well done! A very well run establishment!

A very pleasant evening of dinner before the opera. Service was impeccable as the waiter was very attentive explaining the dishes and making recommendations. The dishes were well prepared and delicious with my favorite being the warm bread salad. Had the roast duck which was also great. To start, I had their impossible bao since the burger wasn't available yet and this tasted just like meat as advertised. Overall, an outstanding comfortable dinner.

My husband and I reserved at Jardiniere before attending SF Opera's "Manon." We ordered the reserve caviar and I requested a glass of frozen vodka. The caviar was beautifully presented, with attractive garnishes and delicious light blini. My Belvedere vodka, presented close to 10 minutes before the caviar, had been watered down by being shaken with ice; and I could taste the intrusion of water. Vodka should be served frozen and undiluted so that the liquid is syrupy. On a previous occasion we had been presented with a small treat from the chef before dinner; not so this time. We both enjoyed the duck breast and confit with farro, kale, turnips and apple. One of my turnip pieces was undercooked, and some of the kale still raw; but on the whole the dish was delicious. We both had the Willamette Valley Pinot Noir as recommended; it seemed too fruity for the accompaniments to the duck. My own inclination would have bee to a Cotes du Rhone style red. On most of our previous dining occasions, even when we had a table downstairs in the bar area, we were presented with mignardises; not so this time. I'm wondering why service has been curtailed somewhat.

The ambiance, setting and food were very good, but the service was a disappointment. The service leaders and sommelier were pleasant and engaging, but our waiter's unsmiling demeanour was not. He was overly intrusive and failed to read the table repeatedly, to the point of being off-putting. A leaden note to an otherwise enjoyable evening. In addition, clearing the table before everyone has finished dining is something I would expect in a bistro and not a restaurant at this level.

As I have been on a special food program, I appreciated their asking when they called to confirm our reservation as well as when we arrived if any of us had any food allergies. It brought a comfort level to me - as in a few restaurants they are not happy to hear of my restrictions. We ALL greatly enjoyed our meals. They were presented beautifully, they tasted delicious and the service was impeccable.

In previous visits (many years ago) the food had generally been good but was not particularly creative.

In this visit, from the amuse through the final savory dish the food was creative, superbly prepared, presented well balanced flavors, and had clever touches for texture.

The food was good, not spectacular, quail a little dry, fairly expensive, would expect better for the price. My date was seated next to where they kept the champaign on ice so we asked to be reseated, not very romantic if people are constantly reaching over her head.

The food was delicious! We had the duck and the wagyu steak special. The cheese plate we enjoyed at the end of the meal was sublime. The service was absolutely wonderful. We had a great talkative waiter who helped guide us through the menu, provide some insightful history into the restaurant and gave us some suggestions for where else to visit during our stay.

The food was superb. I had the Monterey Black Cod fish with chanterelles and it was excellent. My partner had a special chef's vegetarian plate and it was imaginative and delicious. The wines were outstanding and reasonably priced. Finally, the service was among the best I've experienced in SF. Well educated and civilized waiter, made good suggestions, and was very solicitous. I also liked the amuse bouche consisting of an espresso-sized cup of mushroom soup: delicious. We shared a blueberry galette for desert. All in all, this was one of the most satisfying meals I have ever had in any San Francisco restaurant. Bravo, Jardiniere!

At first, I was turned off - the host had attitude and the person seating us was not great at handling our request to be seated at a different table and left us standing in an aisle hovering when he went running downstairs to discuss the request with the host. We came in for a pre-theatre dinner (first seating) and the restaurant was virtually empty - we didn't want to sit in a booth and asked to be moved to a table - it shouldn't have been a big deal at all. Ultimately, they accommodated us, but it was poorly handled. Our waiter also had some attitude, which gave me the impression that this was a pretentious restaurant and I had decided that I would not come again. Things changed, though, as the evening went on. The service got better . . . and, the food was fantastic! Starting with the bread and butter! No complaints at all. We all ordered different things and tried each others' meals . . . delicious. A+ for food. They could be better at welcoming people in, though. First impressions matter.

Was superb. From the fabulous drink “the Lexington” to the oysters on the half shell, to the amazing bread salad to the sea bass and short ribs (we split entrees). This is not to even mention the several lovely amuse bouche the chef sent out and even the bread at the table and the vibe of restaurant. Really great!

Jardiniere is a classy restaurant, from the service (lots of people employed to make your dining experience special), food (high quality, tasty food) and drinks. It's great for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversary. I'll have to come back and sit at the bar to try the Impossible Burger.

We finally scored pre-Opera reservations for a festive dinner at Jardiniere. And we are glad we did. Every dish was excellent and the service was impeccable. We loved the ambiance, which felt celebratory, with it's inverted champagne glass creating a dome over the bar, and with lovely Art Nouveau touches in the ironwork, sconces, and other decorative elements. We highly recommend having a pre-show dinner here for a special night out.
