I was extremely disappointed last night with our dinner at Jar. It was Thanksgiving and we were 8 people. They were quite late in seating us which we understood due to Thanksgiving. The service once seated was terrible. The table had nothing on it..not even a bud vase, a flower ..something to show it was a special evening. My soup was served without a a plate under it. Food was thrown on the table without any proper serving utensils. They didn't have proper utensils on the table. for us to eat with. I have been to Jar before and it was great. It was the reason I looked forward to going back. We left with a $1300.00 bill which would have been fine had they actually performed. Really really disappointing.
Perfection for Thanksgiving. Warm and wonderful.
Thanksgiving dinner, set menu, quality food but difficult to serve in mass quantity as still have good taste. . Some dishes such as mashed potatoes, not much taste, the thinly sliced white meat only turkey was very dry. A very very small bowl of gravy , also quite flavorless, was served on the table. We assumed it was to help with the sad potatoes and turkey, but considering that size bowl was barely enough for one of us (there were 4) we all politely shared a few small spoons of it. The stuffing mixed with the missing dark meat of turkey was very good, the Au Gratin potatoes also very good. Oyster stew was very good as a starter, but was only enough for two spoonfuls.
$100 would have been fine, but the food didn’t match up with the price.
It was a lovely Thanksgiving experience. The food was absolutely outstanding.
Fantastic room. Good food, great service and staff. Our second time and we were again impressed with the overall feel of the experience. The Thanksgiving Pre Fixe menu was tasty, and also a bit pricey. We would say that it was well worth the cost, but after the gratuity added and the very overpriced mocktails, we felt a bit grouse for the holidays. Overall a good experience, and we have definitely recommended this restaurant to our friends and family!
Dining with board member
Food was overpriced for what you get. Sunday fried chicken was not very good and the cole slaw horrible!!
Love the food and cocktails
Chef/Co-owner, Preech Narkthong came to the table to greet us, and educated my guests about the restaurant and food. I've not had a quality meal since dining at Jar.
The food was very good. Our waitress Rachel was cheerful and efficient. The quiet was great for talking with an old friend. We ordered mostly the specials but didn't ask about the prices and were surprised by how much they cost.
We went there for the steak and had the porterhouse for two. It was perfect.
We also had Kumamoto oysters to start with. Everything is good. Highly recommended.
Phenomenal dishes and spot on service that was friendly yet still professional made a very special night. I hadn’t been in some time and am fixing that with plans for upcoming visits! What a marvelous night!
Good food, nice waitstaff, good lighting, elegant room.
The food and service was excellent. I highly recommend the mussels and at least 2 loaves of bread to soak up the amazing liquid! The steaks were great and the onion rings were fabulous. Starting off with a great martini made the evening special. This is a restaurant I look forward to going to again. We had a lovely evening here and the dining room had a great vibe.
Food was excellent. Kevin the waiter super as well as the manager Renata. Can’t beat it.
We really enjoy Jar. We got there for our early reservation and we’re seated immediately. Server was excellent - made very good suggestions for both food and wine. While the dining room is getting a little dated, it’s very comfortable. All good.
Fine food but the noise level, even seated in a corner booth, was not conducive to remaining. We had mains only and left to have dessert & drinks elsewhere. I think weekend nights should be avoided if seeing old friends & wanting conversation.
Prices abit on the high side but overall, justified.
Always a great meal
The steaks are top quality meat and they are cooked very well
The bar has great drinks and the wine list is very good
Jar is out go-to for my husband's birthday. Nothing like elevated comfort food. We love their pot roast and all the sides like creamed corn and fries. Their chocolate pudding is the best too.
John our server, seemed very wired, towards end of dinner sever was alot more grounded and focus, there were only 2 tables that he was attending. Overall his energy was not his best.
Always a pleasure to return! The food, service, and vibe are consistently great!
This is the second time the I have eaten here and it did not disappoint. The food and service are always top notch. There are lots of choices so everyone can find something wonderful to eat! The pot roast is always amazing and save room for the butterscotch pudding!
Always a pleasure. Nowadays it feels like an under-the-radar gem. A modern classic, for sure.
Still very good. A great bar, and tasty comfort food.
Beautiful decoration and ambience and well served meals cooked perfectly well, bravo!
The food is always consistently good here. The pork chop is the best I’ve ever had, the pot roast is excellent, and the sides and salads are all delicious. The chocolate pudding and the butterscotch budino are not to be missed.
Amazing. All aspects. I can’t recommend it enough and our bartender Adrian K made our experience next level. All her recommendations were perfection.
Wish I could eat here every night Wish I could eat here every night. Wish I could eat here every night. Wish I could eat here every night. Wish I could eat here every night. Servive was terrible.
It was a lovely dinner for friends to get togethet. Easy conversation with good food.
Always the best meal
Great bar and wine list
Service is always superintendent
Our Char Siu Pork Chop and Burger were made to perfection, great drinks too and Rachel was superb!
We had amazing crab cakes, not on menu always but if on have to get!! Best crab cakes I ever had and I grew up by Chesapeake bay. We also both got the skirt steak Akaushi – Japanese Wagyu, simply the best steak I have ever had!!!!! Yummy!!! Your talking to a guy who eats steak 3 x a week and has grilled his entire life, and I’m 64 best steak ever, cooked to perfection melt in your mouth buttery stark flavor, go now runnnnn, always good sides and it’s all backed up by two great chefs in kitchen and great staff
Shout out to the amazing Preech who is the secret ingredient at this amazing chop house!!!
There were very few patrons at the restaurant. The food was timely but service was poor and food presentation was what I would expect at a lower end restaurant.
the food and service was great as always
the dishes are perfectly prepared
the bar is fantastic
So lovely and welcoming. Perfect food and relaxed atmosphere.
The french fries and the onion rings were outstanding. The pork chop was slightly overdone, but the steaks were great.
Jar has an old-school atmosphere, even though it has "only" been around for 18 years. It is elegant without being stuffy. The food is excellent, with most dishes easily shareable. The burrata and beet salad, pot roast (a signature dish) and the side of purple yams were standouts. Also excellent cocktail and wine selection. The butterscotch budino for dessert was delicious. Excellent choice for a special occasion, or just Sunday night dinner.
I was really excited for this. Coming in, the ambiance was awesome, super hip but not annoying. Clean and friendly. Kevin (waiter) was mega energetic but I was a big fan. Sadly, the food just was not great at all. One filet mignon was overcooked, my ribeye felt like it was bought at Ralph's and not somewhere like Huntington Meats. I literally make better steaks on my own... every part of the meal was underwhelming. Just sad that that was the case. Hard to say if I'll ever go back...
