Always good!
The food and service were very good-I will return.
Went for Valentines day and hadn't been in a few years. Service, Food and Vibe all great. Definitely a bit pricier than I remember.
The restaurant seemed like it was over booked. I get it , it was Valentine’s Day, but I would imagine a restaurant of that caliber would not be so greedy and completely pack it’s floor with tiny tables and have people sitting elbow to elbow. We also had someone trying to fix a table next to us with literally no space, the staff was rearranging and moving this table so much that we had butts in our face for like 20 minutes!! We waited so long for our check and the service was so slow.
Maybe we chose a bad day to celebrate our Valentine's Day, but to be honest, it's really sad for a experience with that's high price.
It's a noisy place so not a place where you would conduct business. good for dates or double date, special occasion. Great food. Our waiter was very good and he had no attitude which can ruin a good time. my salmon was cooked perfectly. overall we had a good time and felt satisfied with the meal and service. friendly hosts too.
Outstanding service, great ambiance and very good food. It was a perfect choice for my friend birthday dinner. We could hear our conversation with each other. Highly recommend
Delicious food and lovely service
Always good great
Everything was terrific, as usual. We both got steaks, cooked to perfection to the temp we requested. Our only complaint is the noise level in the room when it fills up, which happened around 7:45 p.m. on a Friday.
Excellent evening!
My "go to" for a really nice, consistent dinner. Very intimate space, easy to have a conversation, great service, and top notch dining. I had the skirt steak for the first time the other night and it was as good as I've had. We are a party of 4 and we all had a great evening.
We really enjoyed our evening at Jar. Food was excellent. We each had a different entree and each one was 5-stars. Salads as appitizers were great. We shared two ice cream sundaes for dessert, and they really hit the spot. Drinks were spot on, especially my very dry vodka martini. All in all a very fine evening.
We LOVE LOVE LOVE the food but the acoustics are horrible! It's even difficult to communicate with one person across the table and that's sitting in the "quieter" section called the Rotunda. I agree that energetic restaurants are great, but the noise level is truly off-putting.
Great food, service, nice atmosphere. But we chose Jar because we expected the noise level to be quiet, or at least comfortably quiet so that our guests who wear hearing aids could hear comfortably and not be bothered by a din of other diners’ conversations. Bad choice. We had to speak loudly across the table to be heard. Really uncomfortable and ruined our dinner. Go here for a great food experience but expect a typically loud LA restaurant experience. Bottom line:don’t trust the Open Table noise rating for Jar.
Server was excellent, ordered from Dine LA menu, good portions and very tasty.
Jar is always wonderful. Such a great room and amazing food. We both had the specials and they were perfect. Line caught halibut and pork shank. The appetizer were so good and the sides and dessert amazing. The only improvement could be to ask patrons to stay off their cell phones. I had numerous flashes right in my face, so frustrating. All in all so perfect.
Super experience , from bar staff to Chef coming out to have a chat . Food totally delicious with good size portions. We will be back again
Mussels slightly over cooked the rest was perfect
Went for Dine LA on a Thursday night. Hadn’t been to Jar in years. Took one of my teenage daughters. The waiter clearly was not happy we wanted the Dine LA menu. We had to ask for the Dine LA menu, and he treated us lesser-than throughout. My salmon - which I ordered in part because I love caperberries - came without the sauce. He ignored us for awhile before I finally got his attention. I was 3/4 thru the salmon when he said the Dine LA menu didn’t include the sauce and that it was an extra charge. I indicated I thought it was included which is in part why I chose the salmon (and the salmon was so dry without it!). A few minutes later he brought a small dish of capers/caperberries (not the actual sauce) and said I was right. He did apologize, but nothing taken off the dinner. For a $200 Dine La dinner for 2 people - one of whom doesn’t drink alcohol (I had 2 glasses of wine) - it was rather disappointing. We LOVE Dine LA and it’s (usually) a great way for me to introduce my foodie/chefie kid to great food in a more reasonable way. But if a restaurant is going to participate, they shouldn’t make the diners feel like 2nd class citizens for taking advantage of it.
The waitstaff took quite a while to give us bread. The waiter rushed us, was very pushy about what we should order misunderstood our sides order and brought them ALL out, so we were stuck with that bill. We were left alone for long stretches of time.
Service was pretty slow, maybe sit at the bar next time. Food was incredible. Would definitely return.
We were introduced to Jar via a Tastemade feature a few days prior to dining. Needless to say it exceeded our expectations. The staff and manager were engaging through out our dining experience. The pace and flow of ordering and receiving elements of your meal were perfect. I especially enjoyed the Jalapeño Margarita from the bar and the Chopped Sirloin (featured dish on Tastemade). Great ambiance and ideal environment in which to share a meal with family and friends.
Server awesome. Food delicious. Only set back was the noise level.
Love Jar go at least 6 times a year. Great salmon and to die for onion rings
Food is always delicious! It goes beyond expectation!
Great experience, great food and even better service. Highly recommended.
Wow. Still busy and still fantastic food. I don't know how the Chef/Owners keeps it relevant - and amazing - but every time we go to Jar we love it. Kudos
Jar never disappoints. We went early on a Thursday evening because we hadn't been in a while. We sat at the bar. Before ordering, we had drinks and enjoyed the potato chips and nuts they provide at the bar. The restaurant was still fairly quiet when we arrived, although it started to fill up by the time we left. I had the Caesar salad and my husband had the wedge for starters - both excellent, fresh and perfectly dressed. I had the pork chop which is a must, and my husband had the lamb shank special. We have had these entrees before and they more than met our expectations. The owner/chef (Susanne (Tracht) even came out of the kitchen to make sure we were enjoying our meal. We also split an order of creamed spinach- a favorite. We finished with an espresso, for him, and a cappuccino for me. Another great meal at Jar. Of course, we'll be back.
As always Jar is a perfect safe bet for great food and service. I have yet to find anything on the menu that is not absolutely delicious. Service is perfection , seating is comfortable...Never too noisy - never too quiet. A comfortable place to eat and well worth it. Even on holidays, you are never rushed.
Absolutely amazing service by Kevin! The food was incredible and the service was perfect. I highly recommend Jar for an enjoyable dinner with great service and great food.
New year eve dinner was excellent. Service was superb..
Superb comfort food in an elegant setting. Great staff and service.
Christmas Eve
Great portions! Food tasted great! Chuck our server was gracious and attentive. What drives me crazy is after I buy a few drinks I'm ready for just some good old fashion tap water. Mind you I've blown $100 on just drinks, I am hit with$7 for two tap waters!!!! That has stopped me from going to restaurants in the past and it may prevent me from returning here.
Great restaurant but it's pricey. I ordered a martini and it was $20. Most high end restaurants will charge 14 dollars.
expensive.. high quality.. but not as good as i remmebered from past visits
Excellent all the way around from the cocktails and wine, to the food. Service was impeccable. I must come back to try the fried chicken.
Great service
Food and service were outstanding. But the noise level was deffining . Impossible to have a conversation over the noise.
