Ordered a sashimi salad and left after a couple of bites.
One of our favorite spots in Seattle. We even had our post courthouse wedding ceremony here. It is always wonderful! Can be loud if you are with a larger group and trying to hear across the table, but that is the only downside. Quick, friendly service!
Everything was great except for the noodle dish we ordered. The problem was that there weren't that many noodles. The sushi, service and ambiance were great.
Food and service were terrific! We made New Year's Eve reservations and we were seated right away. Drinks were great, food was tasty. Had a great time!
Nice place if you’re a fan of sushi rolls! If you’re looking more for sashimi I wouldn’t recommend here though. Great staff, and great choice of food. Everything looked very interesting! I’d come back if i didn’t live so far. :(
We had a late show to attend. We loved that the restaurant stayed open past 10p. It gave us the opportunity to have a really nice proper meal at such a late hour.
Great service, Fast, was seated right away with reservations
Great good. Service was excellent. Easy to get a reservation even though they are always busy.
Like it. The counter seats are awesome experiences!
Great Happy Hour!! Get a reservation during happy hour it was excellent!
Surprisingly, the toro sampler was lacking its usual sparkling freshness - also ran out of tamago sushi but didn't tell us until later and didn't ask if we wanted anything different. But typically a fun environment with fresh fish and a great value at Happy Hour.
Food is great, price is so worth it, especially happy hour. We love going here.
As always Japonessa was delicious! My hubby and I often eat at Japonessa before a show at Benaroya Hall. We've eaten here at least a half dozen times and we are never disappointed!!
I usually brag about Japonessa, but this last visit has me wondering if I’ll go back. The service was excellent, but the food was nothing like the consistent perfection that Japonessa usually delivers.
Japonessa is a favorite space of mine for lunch with dear friends. It is close to everything--SAM, the waterfront, Pike Market--and the staff are terrific! Did I mention the menu is diverse and colorful? It is wonderful, too.
If you're in Seattle, Japonessa is a must. They've put a twist on traditional sushi and are serving some of the tastiest treats I've ever had. Everything is elevated to the next level. Their sushi foregoes the wasabi and some of it is pre-seasoned. There are Latin inspired garnishes that creates a taste you won't find anywhere else. Service was also fabulous, from how they pour water to how they speak to you. Absolutely a memorable experience.
had a wonderful experience and staff is always in a great mood and accommodating with kids of any age. Sushi menu is very amazing and there special of the day was the grinch roll and was outstanding. Whenever we are down in Seattle we always make reservations to eat here. Also there happy hour menu is from open to like 6pm
I used to love Japhonessa. But I've been twice in the last 2 months and the fish tastes watered down and soggy. Like it have been frozen and thawed multiple times.
Not fresh at all.
The food at Japanessa Sushi Cocina is simply delicious, both at the Seattle and the Bellevue location. However, service we had this evening was terrible. The waiter was very rude and unprofessional . . . Management should instruct its service staff to be more professional, especially with a menu and ambience as good as this.
It’s always great for happy hours
It was amazing.
We heard great things about this place but were sorely disappointed with the food and experience. Most of the fish we had had a slimy coat and did not taste appetizing at all. We had to flag down a waitress for anything that we needed. Will not be going back.
We've been coming here for special occasions, usually birthdays, for 6-7 years. Always great service & beyond excellent food & drinks! Be sure to make a reservation! Go for the omekase!
We always enjoy our sushi adventure. The Union roll is one of our favorites.
I ate here Friday night with a party of 6. I really liked our waiter that served us that night. It was my 22nd birthday and my friends and I decided to celebrate it at Japonessa. The server was very polite, kind and funny. Plus he was very tall as well! I think he's the tallest waiter there. At the end of the night he even brought out a piece of delicious birthday cake for me, which made me felt very warm and fluffy inside. Definitely recommend!
Perfect meal, adorable waitress, and perfectly crafted cocktails. Amazing quality as well! Hey highly recommend this for a lunch date, as well as a romantic dinner spot.
The food are amazing! Seafood are fresh and Uni is so delicious!
A top notch restaurant. We had great service and this will become a must do every time we are in Seattle. It is close to Pikes Market and other sites!
Great sushi! Greeting great and seated quickly at table though reservation warned of counter seating only. 5 stars for greeters! 2 stars for server who fawned over large table next to us and never checked for additional rolls or drinks until the very end. Love the quality and place! Back again soon!
Awesome sushi happy hour! Tasty and great value! Always a favorite spot.
We got there a little early, but that being the case they accepted us with no hesitation! The service was sudden and consistent. The waiter was excellent and she was very detailed with her recommendations. The best sushi and service I’ve had in a while! Prices were outstanding! Definitely a place to go back to! Recommend this for anyone!
Sushi quality was awful. The rice was very cheap and I would not recommend.
The Hot Sweetie special was amazing - great toro. The Matador has got some kick to it, delicious! And the service is always great!
Delicious sushi, some of the best I’ve ever had!
Very nice. Several of our party were sick and so could not attend. Japonessa handled the change without any problem
The food was pretty good. It was very loud and difficult to talk across the table.
From the first moment it felt like the waiter wanted us to get on with it. We hadn’t seen each other in a while and didn’t order quickly enough for his taste. The pushiness never stopped. He either didn’t read us correctly or simply doesn’t care about customized service. Either way he was the reason it was not a more higher rated meal, because the food was excellent.
Some of the best sushi that I've had anywhere—the house rolls are inventive and delicious. I personally had the Last Samurai and Seattle Crunch Rolls, with a starter of Miso Soup. Having never been there before, Julia was nice enough to mention that she thought I might be ordering too much food when I tried to order a third—she was right!
Overall, very impressed with the quality of the food and service. Would highly recommend!
