Great service, environment, and of course Sushi! This restaurant serves the real and high-quality Japanese foods. The staffs are very kind and provide great service. I could feel I was in Tokyo. I strongly recommend this restaurant if you want to enjoy Sushi and other Japanese style food!
The sushi was delicious. We celebrated a birthday and got a lovely mochi desert.
It’s authentic Japanese in that I usually leave a little hungry :) The sushi is still ample enough to be satisfying though, and the flavors are excellent, perhaps the sushi boat could have one more serving of fish on it. The staff and service are excellent, social distancing efforts very good. Overall it’s my favorite sushi place in the county because the fish hasn’t been obliterated by sauces (so much for “Naked” the most dressed fish I’ve ever eaten LOL) and it’s not so thin you can see through it like virtually every other sushi joint around. I’m a regular here and I feel that overall I get what I pay for. Thank you, Goshi staff!
We have been here multiple times and have great time everytime!
Loved our experience. Had the Hokkai Don. Disappointed no uni like last time. But delicious nonetheless!
Just go.
Been eating here for 30 years, always fresh, always good!
Goshi is hands-down our fav sushi restaurant on the Central Coast - the fish is SO FRESH that it melts in your mouth like BUTTER! The Albacore Tataki is the best I’ve ever had - delicate raw albacore slices in a zesty Ponzu Ginger Soy broth with red and green onions is TO DIE FOR. My husband and I get TWO orders because it’s so good we don’t want to share. ;) We also get the garlic chip spicy tuna roll and the halibut tempura roll - both are amazing! The only thing I don’t love about Goshi is how long it takes to get a table. Strongly recommend a reservation. And while the ambiance is cozy & clean, what makes Goshi special is the authentic, fresh Sushi.
Great authentic Japanese food. Excellent service. Highly recommend.
Wonderful outdoor dinning experience. Great Food and servers. Artistic Chief.
Best sushi I've ever had, highly recommend to anybody.
Best sushi for miles
Amazing, fresh hard to find fish from all over the world. Loved it all!!!
The very best sushi in the county. I recommend to everyone I know.
Most authentic, fresh sushi ever!! And the people who work there are kind and take care of you!!
Goshi was the first dine in restaurant I have been too since the shelter in place, the sushi and teriyaki chicken we ordered was delicious.
This is my Husband and I's favorite sushi restaurant. I love their small green salad with soy dressing it's so simple but yet so good. Their fish is always the freshest anywhere. The service is always impeccable.
We love Goshi, but we’re sad to learn that with Covid, they changed their menu... No more Kanpai Boat as it once was. Still, it was delicious! We got the chef’s sashimi of the day and it was awesome!
Great food and service as usual! Thank you!
Attentive staff. Great food.
Best Japanese restaurant between SF and LA. The quality of their ingredients cannot be matched.
Food and service was fantastic as usual. We’ve never been disappointed with Goshi. Staff always welcoming, courteous and gracious.
Wonderful as always. We have been celebrating life at Goshi's for 30 years!
The food was fantastic as usual! The restaurant had tables separated for social distancing with half capacity. We felt very safe! Thank you!
Safety conscious during this pandemic. Great food, very patient and pleasant waitress. Will definitely keep coming back.
Great food and service. Expensive. Ambiance right now isn’t great in the large room because it’s so empty due to Covid. Felt like a cafeteria. But I’ll go again after the pandemic!
Always Fabulous
Consistently the best sushi on the central coast.
Amazing as always. We couldn’t wait for Goshi to open again.. so wonderf
Not many patrons due to Pandemic, but it's actually nice that they seated us promptly for a change. This place is all about the food. It's great, but you have to put up with mediocre service AND prior to the pandemic they re structured their menu so the same dish I used to enjoy at $28 is now $35. Prior to the Pandemic I was a regular despite their shaky service, and now after the price increase I'll not patronize this place as often.
Best sushi ever! We have been going there since 2015. Fish is always super fresh. Tried literally everything on the menu ALL is good. Highly recommend!
This was the first night things were softly opening up. We were so happy to dine at Goshi, because the restaurant has always served us well! The food and service were amazing as always, but because of the ‘new setting’, -without the usual table setting- it lacked ambiance. We were sitting in the back room and it was just very empty. No music either. I hope they will dress up the back room!
Always my favorite! So glad to see them back open!
Goshi changed their menu and in doing so raised their prices. What used to be a great value (e.g., Combo plate) now offers you less or you have to pay more to get the same as in the past. As always, the front of the house is poor and despite making a reservation you may still have to wait as I have up to 20 or more minutes. The food remains quite tasty. However, because of their price increase, I will no longer be a regular. I would recommend this place to friends on an occasional basis.
The restaurant was a bit of a challenge to find and parking was limited but fortunately we eventually located it. We were seated not too long after our 12:30pm reservation and promptly served tea and water.
The food served was surprisingly authentic Japanese. I say this because in this trip to the Central Coast we had already tried Yanagi Sushi & Grill (Pismo Beach) and Naked Fish (Paso Robles) and were disappointed on both occasions so fittingly our expectation was not high.
Among the things we ordered were:
1) Broiled Whole Squid - to our surprise, it was tasty and perfectly cooked as it was tender and not chewy. When it was served by the waitress, she asked us if we knew how to eat it which I found rather odd but our guest who worked in SLO said that this type of dish is not popular in the area so the waitress was probably trying to be helpful.
2) Tuna roll and broiled tuna collar /Tuna roll and broiled salmon
The tuna was fresh and the ginger and wasabi and soy sauce greatly complimented it. Both the salmon collar and salmon filet were cooked to our satisfaction (tasty and tender) and not drowning in sauce like other restaurants do.
We were very satisfied with our meal and experience so we will likely return at our next visit.
Everything’s so tasty, you can enjoy “Japanese quality” Sushi and dining.

Wonderful
Hands down, this place is the crown gem of San Luis Obispo. Goshi is a multi-generational, family-owned restaurant that transforms amazingly fresh and high-quality ingredients into dishes that represent the simplicity and beauty of Japanese cuisine.
Not just rolls at Goshi's but authentic Japanese Cuisine.
Goshi’s is the best Japanese restaurant in town. We have been going there for over 30 years and are always pleased with the quality of food they offer. The freshest fish and some imported from Japan. It’s a wonderful place.
