Japanese Restaurant Goshi
Excellent, fresh sushi, sashimi and rolls. Nothing fancy ambience wise but the food makes up for it. The service was another story. Our waitress was very inhospitable and borderline rude. We will return but won’t sit in her section. We spent almost $300.00 for 4 people. The boat for 2 is huge!!
Goshi has long been my benchmark against which all other sushi restaurants are measured. Tonight’s experience did not disappoint. This is the real deal! - authentic yet relaxed; exquisite yet not remotely pretentious. Yasu is an artist; a creative master who deeply understands his raw ingredients and can play with flavor combinations that truly are greater than the sum of their parts. Sit at the bar. Put yourself entirely in his hands (“omakase”) and trust him. I promise you an exceptional experience!
Best Japanese restaurant on the Central Coast. Everything is well prepared and delicious.
Best Sushi in San Luis Obispo! They sat us right away and great service.
Overall, our experience for dinner was great. Food was wonderful, and once we sat down, our service impeccable.
Had reservations for opening time, 5:00 and arrived about 5 minutes before, where there were at least a dozen or more others waiting to get in. Was a signup sheet with no directions on whether it was for reservations or walk-ins or both. Went in to ask woman at hostess station, and she did not know whether we should sign in or not. At 5:05, hostess came out to select a particular family for seating. Being hungry, and having a reservation, I went up to hostess to give her my name. She seems surprised - I may have been too bold doing this, but she did seat us at our reserved table. I thought there should have been better communication when they started letting people in, as to who should go first. That said, overall, my experience was great.
This place used to be a hidden gem. It’s become bigger and crowded over the years. But I’m pleasantly surprised that the sushi quality is still top notched and service is wonderful. Excellent freshness and selection of sushi, many are imported directly from Japan. Artistic presentation of the sashimi platter and great selection of sake just make the overall dining experience awesome. Still my all time favorite!
It was nice to have a reservation, our table was waiting for us and service was great. This place is popular, and for good reason. Excellent sushi, super fresh fish, light and crispy tempura, even the salad is tasty! As an appetizer, try the salmon and avocado sushi roll. Delicious!
Always great! Highly recommended! Get the kanpai boat!
Best sushi in SLO! It’s a tradition in town and the only place we’ll eat sushi. The fish is always top grade and prepared beautifully !
Generally good sushi although very heavy on the rice in the rolls. Service was meh
Absolutely superb food and excellent.service.
The restaurant, however appears dirty and also needs a good makeover in the entrance area and original part of the space not renovated.
The best sushi I have ever had. The Chef puts a lot of thought and experience to the fish selection. It's worth my 3 hour drive!
Goshi offers very good lunch options at reasonable prices. It serves high quality meals and some unusual, interesting desserts.
Delicious every time!
The best sushi is San Luis Obispo, and one of the best sushi restaurants I've been to in general. The fish is always so fresh, and all their non sushi items are really good as well
Very consistent every time we visit, both food quality and service. Would have no problem recommending this place.
Very authentic! The chirashi sushi was the best I’ve ever had. My husband had the grilled black cod with tempura. What quality dishes! So happy my friend Hitomi recommended Goshi SLO. Thank you for a delicious and relaxing meal, we will be back!
The best sushi!!
Goshi's is our favorite restaurant in San Luis Obispo. We enjoy meeting friends at Goshi's for lunch or dinner, and it is always where we go for special celebrations. Goshi is family owned.
I dont know if our server was new but she wasnt listening to what we asked and didnt seem very bright . She didn't bring part if my meal when she brought the others food . I've been there many times and this was the worst service I've ever had
Best sushi in San Luis Obispo, and we have tried them all. All fish is always fresh and the owner makes sure of that. Yes, it may seem a little pricy but it is well worth it. Nice variety of sakes and the Asahi, on tap, is so refreshing you'll need two! Apart from sushi they have great Tempura, noodles, broiled fish, and Katsu.
Waiter was awesome! He was very attentative. Thank you, would come again.
This restaurant is a family favorite. The food is authentic and delicious. The service was perfect. The atmosphere is warm and very friendly.
Fantastic quality of food, flavors, and attentiveness from the chefs. This is my favorite foodie spot in SLO, if I lived in town I would constantly be going there for lunch and dinner.
Best Japanese food we have found in California
So so good. And they work very hard to help with food allergies. I highly recommend.
First time here — heard so many good things and it’s always packed so I figured it must be the best sushi around. It was fine, but honestly I’m not sure what all the hype is about. There are much better sushi restaurants in SLO county. Service was good. Inside is nothing special.
Unbelievable food and exceptional service
The best Japanese restaurant in SLO County !!! The lunch set meals are delicious and a best deal. Chef Yasoo San is an honorable and kind Host and amazingly consistent in his high quality food quality and presentation. It is always a special treat coming to eat at GOSHI's !!!
Wonderful top quality food ! The sushi chefs are the best in the area.
Love the food.. love the service.
Definitely will come back again.
Best sushi in the county by far and I always feel like I paid way too little
Great food and wonderful service! Glad we made a reservation though👌🏼
Reasonable price point for premium sushi. Legit selection of nigiri. Firefly squid, Horse mackerel....nuff said.
My friend came with me, and she lives in Tokyo. She said it was the most authentic Japanese restaurant she has eaten at in California. High praise from a woman who is a "foodie".
The sushi was phenomenal and the service was good. Even though I asked for a table along a wall, our table was in the middle of the room. They have expanded but we were seated in the original restaurant and it is a little cramped and noisy beside the sushi bar.
Food was great..service was not. We waited for everything even our change for almost 20 minutes
Fantastic authentic Japanese quinine, sushi is fresh and many varieties including Wild from Japanese waters. Highly recommended.
