Met a friend coming from Vancouver for a casual lunch, so it was a great mid-way spot for us as I was coming from Portland. The dining room as a nice view of the river and interstate bridge, so that's nice. I've been there during warmer weather and sitting on the patio is nice.
I'm not sure what may have been going on, but this time the server seemed a bit cranky and inattentive, so that was not so pleasant.
Decent food and price for general dining with easy parking.
I've been coming there seance it opened. Haven't been for a while but we moved to the island we'll be back I'm sure
The food was very good and the service was excellent, especially since we had so many people at our table. On a Monday Holiday evening it was very quiet and the ambience was great.
Service was prompt and the menu selections seemed to satisfy everyone. Thank you for being so helpful with out large party.
was called the day before to verify reservation and was asked if we would be fine with a high top table... meaning we would be on the upper level at a high table and was guareenteed we would be able to see the Christmas ships, easily, over the heads of those in front. NOT the case, was seated at a low table. couldnt see a thing on the river without standing up. Also, they had a special menu that was not communicated to me when I made the reservation. VERY DISAPPOINTED
We celebrated our daughter's 24th birrhday Dec.19 at the Jantzen Beach Bar and Grill. Our party of six included two vegans. I emailed the chef a few weeks before our meal and asked for special accomodations as the posted menu had very limited options for plant based dining. Chef Brett came through with beautiful roasted squash stuffed with artichoke risotto for the vegans and tasty prime rib, seafood stew and fish-n-chips for the carnivores. The dining room was packed due to the Christmas Ship parade but the room was well staffed with warm efficient servers. Chef Brett even came to join us for a birthday toast after dessert. We will be back for more family celebrations.
Nice view, that's all it has. The service was poor I had to ask for coffee after being seated for 25 mins. The service was horrible and the food was cold and lacking flavor, hash browns swimming in grease. Place smelled musty and floor was filthy. A very sad place even for a hotel restaurant.
Spending the evening with family for an outstanding meal and Christmas ship viewing, was beautiful! I really appreciate how RL Bar & Grill put together an outstanding "special" menu and the music was so enjoyable. The entertainer was outstanding. The overall ambiance was relaxing, lovely and made for such a nice evening!
What a nice find. outstanding food and ambiance. Will definitely return. Good value!!
Awful. Bad food. Bad ambiance. Bad service. Overpriced. Yuck. Never again.
SUCH A GREAT PLACE RESTARAUNT/HOTEL..
STAFF IS EXCELLENT
ROOMS ARE CLEAN
JAY DOTSON JR.
Food is overpriced, service is terrible. Only view on mountain Hood is amazing.
I really don't enjoy giving a restaurant a bad review if they don't deserve it, but I'm going to have to give this a "fair" review. The service was not up to par...we were left waiting and wondering what was going on after we'd been served coffee and cocktails. My husband finally had to wave someone down to ensure our order was put in. Then the food came out...we were all shocked that there was barely any food on the plate! The hash brown sliver given to us was two bites worth of potatoes and the benedicts were exceedingly small! It was shocking. You could see more plate than food (kinda' like Trump's inaugural crowd size...LOL). The good news is that the hash brown bites were crispy and the benedicts were tasty.
Would I go there again? Maybe, for the quality of the food and the great view of the river from every table, but ONLY if they do something about their serving sizes to compete with other restaurants in the area.
Birthday dinner, nice server, steak was not cooked to my specifications and server had them remake my entire meal while my husband ate his. He had the skirt steak and it was pretty tough. Great view! Sat on the deck in the sunshine.
Not sure what the bad reviews are about. The views are indeed amazing. But the food is too. The spinach artichoke dip was divine, hard to say what was best, the dip or the homemade tortilla chips, and the crab stuffed sole entree was perfection. Perfectly prepared and very tasty. Even the flourless chocolate cake was done right. This was a wonderful dinner where we didn't expect it, to be honest. This place is worth a visit.
Had reservations, didn't need them on a Wednesday night. Say on the patio overlooking the Columbia River. Waitresses were prompt and food was good, albeit a little on the process side. Overall a good experience.
We had a nice casual dinner here. The view is quite something. The food was nothing to write home about but nothing was terrible. Our server was friendly and helpful. A good spot for those who want a view but don't want to spend a lot of money.
Took Moms here for the MOTHERS DAY BRUNCH!! it was wonderful, food was great, nice and friendly staff.. will diffidently go back.. just to try the normal menu!!
Spent a wonderful Mother's Day at Jantzen Beach Bar & Grill!
We chose RedLion ja beach for the view. Which was very good and also the time..9:45 on a Tuesday which matches our work schedules. The nice hostess seated us...did not check for res at least at that moment. Then informed us that their menu drops even tho there is no mention that I could find that most of the kitchen shuts down in the 8's ...there fore having a 10pm seating option seems disengenous...at least have a warning about limiting the menu would be good.
So had our ritual libation, and went to Portland City Grill and dropped a couple Benjamins on their steak options.
BTW, your mandatory rating stars make this a bit non fact. We did not dine there due to their schdedule. You have not option for DNP as in baseball etc
SO I really do not feel good about giving them low ratings or high ratings...do you understand the issue?
Took the family here for Easter brunch buffet. The food was ok by buffet standards. Was bummed about the Prime rib being super overcooked. The dining room we were in was very outdated, the chandeliers and decor appeared to be from the 70's. But we did have a great view of the water.
The food was wonderful and the drinks were good! Our server was not very attentive and we had to ask for drink refills and dessert, but she was friendly.
The food here is surprisingly good, but this time nothing else worked. We had to ask four times for a condiment. Waiters stood by talking, but avoided eye contact. My wife had to wait twenty minutes for a knife to cut her chicken. We ordered two entries but we're told, this time, that bread or rolls are not included. Drinkers spilled over from the bar. And we were not checked in via Open Table until almost two hours after we arrived.
What a great view of the Columbia while having lunch in a nice restaurant. We had the turkey pesto panini and the roasted turkey blt and both were delicious. We were served by Rafael and he was prompt and also allowed us relaxing time to enjoy our visit. It is just a short drive from Portland to enjoy the view.
We had a wonderful evening out. The good was delicious and the views of the river were breath taking. We will defentally be going back.
Gorgeous view of the Columbia River, this restaurant located in the Red Lion Hotel didn't disappoint. Best steak I've had in a very long time. Best service I've ever experienced. Some 80's decor with chandeliers, but that's literally the only bad thing about it. Would recommend to everyone. Brought my 9y/o and the kid menu was suffice as well.
We went for Christmas Day brunch and had a wonderful time. They accommodated us sitting 15 minutes late as our party decided to leave their home at the time of our reservations. :/ We were sat in what I assume was an overflow room because the music was playing in the other room but it was nice to have the quieter room. Stunning view of the river!!! Our server was fantastic! Even though it was a buffet she brought us drinks, took plates, and was incredibly pleasant.
The food was tasty and everyone ate a lot! Even the vegetarian in the group was pleased. What I saw available: prime rib, ham, omelet station, shrimp scampi station, eggs, large sausages, bacon, roasted potatoes, roasted veggies, fresh fruit, mashed potatoes, gravy, turkey (I think), savory bread pudding, baked cod, shrimp and cocktail sauce, deviled eggs, assorted cheeses and crackers, fresh veggies with dip, muffins, yogurt parfaits, mini cheesecakes, apple crisp, chocolate cake, poppy seed cake, red velvet cake and I'm sure I am forgetting a bunch. One complimentary beverage was included and we had bloody Mary's as well. We will definitely be back!
Nice restaurant in Red Lion with great river view. Here for lunch this day, nice lunch choices, soup, salads, sandwichs and entrees for those wanter larger portions. Started with the tomato soup, just a hint of spice to add to the great taste, then had the Italian Copa panini, well prepared and tasty. Serveer described menu selections well, available when needed, else let us enjoy our meal. First time eating here, definitely will try again next time in the area. Convenient to I-5 for those traveling north to Washington state.
Excellent service and nice American kitchen! Air condition cooled down too low but this is not Jantzen specific!
hotel restaurants and restaurants with great views don't have to be great to survive. That said, the food was very good. The service people were friendly but definitely lacked polish. All 8 of us were more than satisfied with our meal and dining experience.
We had a great dinner, great view of two snow-capped mountain tops and the river from our outside table and the waitress was kind and accommodating :)
