   We ordered a variety of food with a party of six people. The 20 Oz Ribeyes were marbled with a fat that was more like grissle not even sure it was a cut of ribeye. The baked potato was spot on but when you're paying 50 bucks a steak you expected me to be a better quality. I am pretty sure the meat came from an older cow. Probably won't be going back after noticing grease all over the sidewalk out front from their kitchens fan. The place could really use a cleanup on its interior, just seemed dirty to us.

   The food was excellent as usual but we were seated at a table for 2 squeezed in between 2 tables for 4. It felt like we were in their conversations and they were in ours. It was uncomfortable. We have been going there for years but would think twice before going again unless we could be assured we wouldn’t be crowded next to the people around us.

   Steaks were GREAT. Excellent steaks prepared to perfection. Could have used a vegetable as a side beyond just a baked potato with the entre. Service was barely OK - order, food, single drink refill and bill. Became crowded and "noisy" at 6:30 - 7:00 pm when restaurant became full. Somewhat "dark" atmosphere - hard to easily read the menu, let along much else due to light level. Again, great streaks but disappointing in atmosphere and service level.

   Janko's is my favorite restaurant in Bloomington. We had a nice experience, good food, cooked right, and while it's expensive, we knew that and had a great visit with a friend we met up with. Service was appreciated, as our lady kept us good, and she helped my wife get her very large BBQ ribs portion cut up so we could take them home in a box. It's been a while since we last visited, but we plan to be back. Our friend really liked the pork chop, too. I recommend the Bucharest Meatballs (oh, and the steak, of course).

   If you overlook the fact that you are in a dark and dirty little restaurant that can not even splurge on a salad fork, you can always look forward to the cold dry rolls (remember the days when they used to bring out multiple kinds of good bread?). If you survive the bread then you can always look forward to the bag of lettuce brand for your salad. And God forbid if you order the blue cheese dressing they will gouge you for an additional $2. The whole salad and roll combo is not worth $2! To top it all off however, $3 for ONE glass of either tea or soft drink. They definitely never offer a refill! This place is sooooo cheap that if you order the $40 lamb chops you do not even get the mint jelly unless you cough up another buck. Is half a teaspoon of mint jelly going to break the place? I will not complain about the meat as that is the ONLY reason to go here. My wife and I both ordered the ribeyes, they were large and cooked in the neighborhood of the way we ordered them. The best part was that neither of us could eat it all. Our waitress was busy so we ask someone else for two boxes. Our waitress came by as the boxes arrived and actually said do you really need 2 can’t you get that all in just one box? Really?? It is a box. She acted like it was coming out of her check. Not saying that I will never go back, but Longhorn has real salads, good bread, drink refills, the steaks are not quite as good, but they are also half the price. Plus the do not pack you in like sardines.

   Janko's is a Bloomington institution and it deserves that status. The food is excellent and the portions and sides are generous. Service was attentive - our glasses were always full and dirty dishes were taken away quickly. Highly recommended.

    Three out of four of our steaks were over cooked. The sirloin for two was ordered medium rare and came out well done. Two of the filet mignons that were ordered medium rare were medium. My husband did speak up about his sirloin because it was so overcooked. A new one was brought out, but it was after the rest of us were done eating. The two over cooked filets were partly eaten before it was realized how over cooked they were, so nothing was said. I would highly suggest immediately cutting in to your steak as soon as it arrives to verify that it is as your ordered.

    Janko's Little Zagreb is consistently great. This is probably my favorite restaurant in all of Indiana. Great value considering you get a salad and baked potato included with your meal. The steaks are fantastic. Try the meatballs! Be warned, the restaurant itself is small and a bit cramped, and the noise level is moderate. It might not be for everyone, but for me, that is part of it's charm.

    I took my wife and adult children for Mother’s Day. I chose the restaurant based upon the menu. My kids and I like steak, my wife doesn’t. The steak was excellent. My wife’s stuffed pepper was bland and unappetizing which was very disappointing since it was the item I knew she would order and it appeared to be a specialty. We paid over $200 for our meal and I only ate three bites of steak because I felt so bad s my wife’s meal. I don’t want the leftovers. If you like steak it’s really good, probably enough to overcome the extremely crowded dining room and volume of talking. We don’t plan to return.

    Janko’s was a perfect choice for graduation weekend. Such a classic Hoosier restaurant- we loved it! The food was excellent and the service even better (Maddie was AWESOME!!) Perfectly cooked steaks, delicious buttered and grilled rolls, huge shrimp cocktail with a spicy horseradish cocktail sauce, all around delicious meal at a Bloomington institution.

    An absolute gem of a restaurant in lovely Bloomington, IN. We were there for graduation weekend. The got us seated on time, service was outstanding and the food is wonderful. It is a bit pricey but the quality of the food is worth the amount you pay. Totally recommend folks try it out!

    Hadn't been to Janko's in a long time. We wanted to celebrate the end of my wife's school year. It's like going into a Southern Indiana cafe. Yes, tablecloths but metal tables and chairs. Good food, big steaks. Plenty of leftovers. It was crowded, loud, and service was a little slow; surprising for 8:30 on a Wednesday night. We would return but nothing to wait on.

    I love the steaks here. Basic tables and chairs with very good food. A must stop every time I come to town. Service is friendly and courteous. With good selection of wines. Warm bread with side of bbq sauce to dip gets the meal going. Nice fresh tossed salad to complement meal.

    We decided to go for an early dinner while in Bloomington for the day. My wife ordered salmon with a side of mushrooms and I ordered a petite filet medium rare. The salads before the meal were very good, as were the rolls. My filet was cooked perfectly, but was a little on the salty side. My wife’s salmon was very salty. I tried a bite and agreed. She did not want to say anything so she asked for some ranch dressing to put on it to cut the saltiness. The mushrooms were also too salty and she did not eat them. I’m not sure what happened, but after all of the good things we had heard, we were a little disappointed in the overall experience.

    You either really love this place or you have had my experience. Pro’s excellent flavor. Excellent service. I have been here 4 times in my life. I have never had a perfect steak in that time. I like my stakes rare , but if you get that here it won’t be satisfying. I would recommend medium rare as it leads to better flavor. Do not order the sirloin for 2 , you will get a lot of Gristle. Also the buns come hot but they don’t warm them enough and there still cold and hard in the middle. Cons : for a places that brings in a lot of money an hour, there bathrooms and building up keep is very shabby. The bath rooms are gross and crummy. This place has seen better days, but is still a happing place and the overall experience is worth it. The staff is absolutely amazing at refills and anything you need in a very timely manner. Would I eat here again?? Yes but it’s not a priority or a desire. Should you try it? Absolutely, you exp might lead to the perfect stake.

    Steaks were very good, pricy for the area. Sides were tasteless. Server wasn’t attentive had to hunt her down more than once. The bus girl however was much more attentive. House Montalcino was mediocre at best. No liquor available. A large group came in halfway through our meal and drowned us out. Doesn’t look like they’ve spent a dime on the interior in the last 20 years.
