    Good, but not great! Service and vibe were both very good, but the food was mostly just okay. In particular, the wagyu fried rice was *not* good and for the $50 I paid for it, I expected so much better. Edamame and brussels were good, the sushi was fine, but I could have gotten just as good from the $10 roll down the street. Glad I went, but won't go back.

    The food at Janken was absolutely incredible with unique and creative flavor profiles and beautiful presentation. The drinks and desserts were also top notch! In terms of service, the primary servers and all the waitstaff were incredibly professional and kind. However the ancillary staff, specifically the hostesses, left something to be desired. First of all, even though we had had a reservation and arrived 5min early, we were not sat at our table until well past 15minutes past our reservation time. Secondarily, we went to Janken for a special occasion and let the staff know this, but we were sat in the worst possible location right next to the door, so the cold wind blew directly on us anytime someone came in, and had so little privacy. I know what you’re thinking— oh they must have been rude to the hostess or something, but I can assure you that we were being patient and kind and were not being jerks in anyway. We still had an incredibly time, but the poor table seating was a bit of bummer.

    Food was delicious, just a bit awkwardly timed and plated as two people’s food arrived first, then about 10 minutes later the third person got their plate then finally the last one when the others were about done eating. It was all delicious when it did arrive! Lovely touches like the moist towelette for our fingers etc… thank you!

    Wonderful from ambiance to service to food! We will definitely be back when we return to Portland. Still thinking about that Crab Crispy Fried Rice dish! Yummmm!!

    Hands down best restaurant experience I've had. The hosts were welcoming and smiling, our waitress Marie, was amazing. Very knowledgeable, kind, and genuine. We will definitely be back and recommend to everyone.
