The food was nicely plated and delicious, and the ambiance was pleasant. I would be remiss, however, if I didn't also state that with such an extensive menu, I felt my friend and I were a bit rushed after being seated to select appetizers and entrees. Other than that, I plan to dine there again and bring friends - and review the menu in advance.

Jalwa is our go-to place for superior Indian cuisine. Yes, there are other places where one can get standard Indian fare in the area, but Jalwa is definitely a step above in terms of food, service and ambiance. Their appetizer choices are creative and exciting, all their curries are top-notch, and even their desserts (Moong Dal Halwa is superb!) are amazing. One criticism: no coffee or tea for dessert.

As fans (but not fanatics) of Indian food, we have searched Norrh Jersey for the various Indian food establishments we are lucky to have at our disposal. Truth be told, you can find a lot of good choices, at a variety of prices, as well. That being said, the uniqueness and quality of the food at Jalwa is simply unsurpassed. While I wouldn’t call it high end, I would call it accessible to the gourmet palate, as their menu is a modern interpretation of standard and not so standard Indian fare. To wit, you won’t do better than their butter chicken and chicken saagwala dishes, or the multitude of vegetarian fare with succulent paneer options, among others. But they absolutely dazzle with their appetizers… again, some familiar to the average diner (the samosa chaat is delightful, and generous), most creative and new. It’s certainly a BYOB for a step up from average, so do dress nicely and bring your manners. That being said, it’s also accessible and comfortable too, so bring friends or a romantic date to show off your good taste. (Oh, and the desserts are superior, as well, though they mysteriously don’t serve coffee or tea.) Service can be good to very friendly indeed.

We were seated right away in the back of the restaurant. Lucky for us there was a family with a crying baby. Mind you there were only 3 tables in the back room. It was tight. We ordered two appetizers. One was a chicken wing special, 4 wings for $15. 😳really???. The wait staff was very minimal but ok. The mains were good, nothing special. Overall it’s a nice restaurant but way over priced. We will not be going back. Good luck to them and I wish them the best.

Good service and food. That’s tables were a bit too close so we felt like we were sitting with people to our left and right. Not the place for a private conversation. Food quality was good and service and the wait staff were attentive. Average value

When they say Modern Indian Dining, they weren’t kidding. They’ve got great traditional dishes, but also have items on the menu I haven’t seen anywhere else. The staff was extremely friendly and professional as well. Would highly recommend and will definitely go back with more friends and family.

We have ordered take out several times from here but got the opportunity to dine in and were lucky to find a reservation. Everything was great including the food and the service. We especially loved the butter chicken and the tandoori shrimp.

We’ve only had takeout at Jalwa and this was our first time dining in. It was great! Everything was delicious and the service was fantastic. We’ll definitely go back for another date night in the future :)

The interior is beautiful and very modern. All of our food was delicious. We had vegetarian samosas which were cooked to perfection. The garlic naan was outstanding. The butter chicken was some of the most tender chicken I have had. And the lentils and basmati rice were wonderful. The service was also excellent. The owner chatted with us for awhile. He was very warm and friendly. This is the best Indian food I have had. Highly recommend!

Food outstanding and friendly staff! I was upset that we had to sit in the way back, a small isolated room with no one there basically by the kitchen - it was so strange and they were not able to sit us anywhere else despite reserving well in advance. So unromantic, I felt like I should have just done take out if that was my only option. I was really disappointed.

This is the third time we’ve eaten here and always a good experience. Nice atmosphere and the service is great. Waiters are warm and attentive but not overbearing. Good very good although last night the lamb was kind of tough. Overall I highly recommend

Always a flavorful experience to be had at Jalwa - our second time dining here. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Tried the Samosa Chaat and it was heavenly - just enough spice and sweet. A must for vegan dining - you won't be sorry!

Everyone was extremely polite and accommodating, just very slow. We had lamb, it was “chewy”. It should have melted like butter. Food was not served steaming hot. It was a birthday celebration. Not sure I would go again. Thought it was pricey.

The food is consistently excellent and super fresh. Staff is always gracious and they never rush you. The lassuni gobi is a favorite starter, slightly sweet and spicy and just delicious. Tandoori prawns were large and really flavorful . No need for us to go elsewhere for Indian food!
