Excellent food with terrific service. 4 of us enjoyed the Tapas Experience. The chef even subbed an item to accommodate my food allergy. Much appreciated!
Excellent food, friendly service, beer selection could be better.
Friendly service & delicious food in a warm ambience
Wonderful food and service as always. Wish the patrons would dress better for a slightly better ambiance but nevertheless it was a fantastic experience. Look forward to returning.
We had an amazing time at Jaleo! The food is spectacular, the portions are bigger than most tapas places I've been to, and the services is impeccable! Amazing.
I suppose our expectations were too high because all four of us were disappointed in the remarkably weak drinks and very average Spanish food. We should have known what to expect when a server set a small basket of bread on our table amd there were only three pieces in it. Who does that for a party of four? Our waiter was ok but pretty much disappeared toward the end of our meal and we had to flag someone down to get our check. Not worth it at all. The paella tasted old. The chicken and rabbit were dried out especially the halves not buried in the rice. Our waiter suggested a potato salad which was horrible.
Do your self a favor and go elsewhere if you want a good Spanish meal.
Excellent experience. Family of four, two teenagers. Have been to Spain, so could compare. Food was excellent, authentic and representative. Very good sangria. Stylish design and very attentive service. We also had a window booth with a nice people watching opportunities.
Very pleasant for a light lunch yesterday. Food was excellent and we had a great table and waiter. Totally enjoyed it!
Food and service wonderful
Food is top notch consistently at Jaleo. We tried some different items on this visit and everything was excellent.
So great! Smaller menu than "before" but still amazing and many of the classics are on there. Amazing service as always.
Very nice, very long lunch. Comfortable, Great food
Everything from the service and cleanliness inside to the food was fabulous. I've rarely eaten at restaurants during Covid and since getting vaccinated. My friend and I were so glad that we chose Jaleo. Thank you!
Took my wife for first time tapas.
She loved it. Service was great. Food was fresh and very tasty.
Recommend this place for sure.
Always consistently great! The freshness and flavors of the food and drinks are amazing!
It’s the one few restaurants in DC I’ve been to multiple times, and will be back AGAIN!
Been to Jaleo a number of times. It's always phenomenal.
Jaleo did not disappoint! Excellent food, delicious drinks, and prompt service make this a great choice!
Jose Andres - what can I say but I'm amazed at the consistency of the food served at his restaurants. First time back to Jaleo in some time and it still is stellar! Got the tasting menu and the variety of tastes and flavors was even better than remembered. Outstanding service for outstanding food as well. He instills confidence for the diner in that the quality of food never wavers.
Quick meal at the bar. Two gazpachos. Nice to have the beet option. And I’m not a big fan of beets. Excellent as always. Looking forward to the return of the brunch items. Friendly and quick.
Wonderful as always in Jose’s restaurants. Great food, drinks, and service. Don’t miss the Gin & Tonic Flight!
Years ago this was a fun, reasonably priced place to get dinner. Today, their prices are quite high ($50-70/person with a drink) without an equivalent increase in experience. All three of us ordered the Chef's Special, but half the dishes did not come out in a way that made it easy to share three ways. It was unclear how the proportions would have been if I was there alone. The server gave us just the right amount of attention, but at one point I had literally lifted the last spoonful out of a dish before a busboy took the dish away. I guess they were trying to be efficient, and I WAS finished with the bowl, but it was a little weird. Jose Andres did admirable work during the pandemic, supporting and feeding front line workers, and I want to support his business. In this case though, a $200 dinner for three people, uneven proportions and the feeling of being rushed probably will have me looking elsewhere for options.
Love this place
Tasting menu was excellent and very generous! Waiter was very knowledgeable!
Our table sampled one of the tasting menus. The food was creative and delicious. There were great wines on the menu that complimented the outstanding food. A great time was had by all!
We visited DC to celebrate my daughter’s 25th birthday and her new job, apartment and life. This was the perfect way for us to enjoy good food ( and cocktails!) over shared plates. Our waiter was very helpful in deciding between dishes, and his suggestions were spot on. Arriving before 6:30 allowed us to choose some things from the happy hour menu, which really helped keep the bill moderate!
$20 lunch menu with 3 choices (cannot substitute but found interesting items) with dessert. A lot of food, but all excellent and good value. Just post Covid and wait staff stretched but did a good job and everyone very cheerful 👍👍
Overall good experience for lunch, but the food could be made with less grease.
I’ve been to Jaleo several times and it has always been a very enjoyable experience. The food was delicious and although our server was very busy and not as attentive as I would have liked the food; drinks and ambiance made up for it.
The food was very good as always.
Not very impressed with our server. Had to ask a couple of times for her to take our order.
Didn’t check on us.
Always a great selection and unique specials. Very consistent food quality. Traditional rabbit and chicken paella is amazing!
When we went June 2 for lunch, the restaurant was still suffering from a COVID staffing shortage. Food was good, but the service was VERY slow.
They have a sign in the window saying they're hiring, so if you're looking for a job in what is normally a great tapas bar and eatery, pay them a visit.
Jaleo is the old faithful: always delivers , never disappoints. The four -course lunch special at $20 is absolutely the best value!
Nobody Goes There Any More... It's Too Crowded. (Yogi Berra)
Actually not that bad considering Covid restrictions just lifting that very night. Amazing staff action extremely successful in providing very good service at maximum efficiency to meet the sold out demand for Saturday night tables - without making us feel rushed. Reasonably priced wines by the bottle and Tour of Spain heavy tapas ($35) menu very worth it - but it does add up for a party of 4, with or without that second bottle of excellent value tempranillo ($44x2). Other wines $38 to $88, maybe higher.
Loud crowd, all enjoying themselves mightily, including us as a bit hard to converse without speaking up quite a bit. Very good food well worth the price and service worthy of the 30% tip ($75 in out case.) $55 and $75 set menus also available, as well as standard and premium wine pairings - or wines by the glass, beer, drinks, etc., and tapas ala carte. Expensive? Yes... Somewhat, but again well worth it. Especially for a special occasion. Even if that Special Occasion is just going to dinner at Jaleo. A real treat ever since maestro Jose Andr'es opened the joint oh so many years ago. Thanks Chef!
Birthday- wonderful time
Delicious as always. Busy. Visits from server intermittent which is okay if you don't need something or want the check. Great to be back! Cocktails done just right.
I am a spaniard living in the US and this is the most authentic spanish food you can find in the whole US.
The overall ambiance was great as well as the tapas and sangria but the service was subpar. Ordered the paella valenciana, would have been great if not for all the “lima beans” they put in there. I’ve never had it with those beans and it would’ve been fine if there weren’t so many. Otherwise, it was a good birthday dinner. I will say that the location in Vegas was definitely better!
Lovely food, precisely what we remember when we visit DC!
Having lived in Spain we were very disappointed in the Patatas Bravas and the Jamon.
I love this restaurant! The food is delicious, approachable and the service is timely and thoughtful Jose Andres is a hero in DC and I am proud to support his restaurants in return.
