Wonderful, original food. Great for the price too!!
Couldn’t have been better!!
The tasting menu item was excellent. Enjoyed dishes we might otherwise not have ordered.
Cocktails & wine list are great. Sangria delish (cost equivalent to ordering a bottle of wine!?) But was Very disappointed with the paella, was surprised because the small bites and other dishes are quite good but Paella is no way a good dish for them...
I went to Jaleo DC because I knew of the Chef José Andrés amazing food. I decided to go for a special occasion and make a (five person) reservation several weeks in advance. When myself and four others (in our reservation) showed up, we told them we had a reservation etc. Right behind the hostess was a four-top table at the beginning of the row of tables. They pull a chair from the back and bring it to the four-top table for our FIVE PERSON RESERVATION. One of the other people in my party stepped in and essentially told the hostess "are you kidding me, we had a five person RESERVATION and you are giving us a four-top table with a chair added on ( and it is probably the worst table in the whole restaurant)." The manager even asked the hostess why we were standing and not sitting at a table, but he never apologized to us for the error and neither did any of the hostesses. They then took 20 minutes to clear a table and set us up.
After we got our table and sat down, we got along with our dinner. The FOOD was EXCEPTIONAL, every dish that came out was EXQUISITE. The food was, without a doubt, amazing and so was our waitress. But the service at the beginning was extremely poor. I will definitely return to one of the OTHER JALEO restaurants but certainly not this one. If we are paying a lot of money for our food (that was worth it), then we expect the service to be just as amazing because it should be since it is a top tier restaurant.
Delicious tapas and a fun and funky atmosphere to celebrate my birthday. Everything was delicious, and I highly recommend the scallops- best I’ve ever had! We also enjoyed the tapas-sized paella, salmon and trout roe cones, Canary Island style potatoes, cava sangria and much more! The only downside was the service- the waiters were friendly, but the meal felt rushed, with the waiters pulling your plates the second you paused from eating and constantly asking if you were going to order more. But if you’re willing to put up with a small amount of annoyance, you will be rewarded with the most delicious Spanish meal possible outside of Spain.
First off, at the last minute we needed to change our reservations from 5 to 8 and they graciously accomaf
I was in town for a conference and looking for a fun good slightly different dining experience with a coworker. This restaurant hit all of that. It’s a fun, trendy setting, with good service and very good food. I would definitely return next time I’m in DC
Great food! Best flan in town.
First time there since 2004 (last time in DC).
As excellent as I remembered it!
We had three great dishes...the Jamon Iberico jamon, plus spinach and cauliflower dishes. All superb and plenty to fill two people! Perfect for pre-theater dining.
We ordered the pre-theatre prix fixe and requested a table in the back (which was quieter than elsewhere). Jaleo is one of our favorite restaurants, so we were not surprised to find that everything was outstanding.
Fantastic dinner, as usual. Arrived for 7:15 reservation and waited 20 more minutes. Limited waiting room at bar or entrance, so waited outside for part of time. I have my new favorite table in a quieter area of the restaurant (top secret). Eat here frequently solo when traveling and love the service and friendly atmosphere at the bar. Enjoy bringing friend and family here.
Great food. Love seeing some "throwback tapas" on menu. Salads fresh and inventive.
Front desk was rude and hostile toward my party, first telling me that they couldn't accomodate my party that had a reservation, then telling me we would have to leave by a certain time to make room for another reservation. The table service was then super slow, and the women at the front desk stared at us while making motions to tell us to hurry up. Not a welcoming restaurant at all.
Great in every way. Busy, busy but good service and excellent food. It was a nice start to an incredible evening!!
Superb. I could go on at length but the chef's tasting menu was to die for. The service was literally excellent, as in much better than most restaurant experiences. Simply a wonderful experience. Don't be in a hurry. Not that service was slow; just that the plates kept coming.
Very good food. Service was a little slow
my wife and I try to get up from our home in Richmond to the F st. location about once a year cause we just like the whole vibe and the fun food. mon. night we went up for our 28th anniversary and we were not let down. yes, it's very crowded and loud but the food is good and service is spot on. it is a bit pricey but it's one of those places where you don't mind laying some extra coin on the table because you feel it's worth it. we'll definitely go back.
Great Food, cocktails, sangria and service. We always come here when visiting Washington, D.C.
Wonderful time at Jaleo! Tables are quite close together and it is always packed and loud, but the food is worth it! Two of us got 5 tapas that were very delicious! We got cauliflower, the patatas bravas, pork sausage, flautas jamon, and garlic shrimps We also got a cocktail each - definitely recommend the gin & tonics.
Tasty dishes, friendly/quick service, delicious sangria. Although it seemed meat heavy there were some nice options for the vegetarian in our group.
Great service - and great f&b. Consistently one of the best
Our server was very inattentive, we had to track him down for everything we needed. Food was great but it would have been nice to have some explanation of what things were when they were just dumped at our table.
Place has a cool vibe to it. Classic sampler left something to be desired. Flavors are good, hostess was rude. Server was better.
Reserved a table for a Saturday night and really glad I did as the place was packed. Food was pretty authentic and tasty although some of the portion sizes were tiny, considering how much was charged. Staff were welcoming and efficient. All in all very good, just on the pricey side.
Good. We had a reservation for a month but they tried to seat us by the kitchen door. The hostess had a little attitude after we refused. Our server was fun and helped us navigate the extensive menu. The food was uniformly good...how many restaurants can boast THAT? Not a loser in our 12 picks.
Great service, food, and drinks. We sat outside and enjoyed the wonderful weather. Can’t wait to come back!
A (little) disappointment.
Ordinary croquettas & tortilla.
Friendly & fast service.
We we're seated promptly, our server was very knowledgeable, our small plates were very sharable 2 salads, two fish and 1 veggie were more than enough. The trout and salmon were perfectly prepared and interesting too.
Fabulous tapas! We ordered several tapas and each one was presented beautifully and was delicious. My son especially enjoyed the liquid olive.
Delicious in every possible way. We actually had breakfast at the DC location and dinner at the Bethesda. Both were wonderful.
We went here for our Anniversary and loved it! The food was outstanding, the service impeccable and location unbeatable! If you’re in the DC area and looking for great food this is the place!
Perfect outdoor experience on beau
I've been to several Jaleo locations and have encountered somewhat surly service at times, but today's was downright indifferent. I met a business colleague for lunch on a glorious weather day and was glad to be offered a seat outside, but was utterly disappointed by terrible service. We never had our water glasses refilled, and I had to ask three separate people for a soup spoon--but only got one after my soup was already cold. My accompanying grilled cheese was overly greasy and generally unappetizing as a result. Next time, I'd stay away from the lunch menu and stick with tapas, and will give some thought to whether there are better options in Penn Quarter.
Everything was great. The food was delicious and our server was really nice and attentive. The only thing is that I had given very specific instructions when making the reservation on Open Table (and when confirming it on the phone) about an appetizer that was supposed to come after ordering the drinks and the hostess did not convey that to the server. I went up to the hostess stand to address it and she apologized and said she’d take care of it right away. But she didn’t. I went to server and asked him about and he had no idea. He rang the app right away and brought it to the table, but the idea was for this to happen without making a fuzz about it. I wanted it to be a surprise for my friends.
They are putting items from 25 yrs ago as specials. The sautéed squid with squid ink sauce and rice is just wonderful!
Suggest to your newbies, two tapas per person and share.
Great food but waited long for a table despite reservations
First time trying OpenTable reservation. Had to wait 45 mins for a table even with reservation. I guess OpenTable reservation does not really work here because the restaurant is very popular and so crowded. Otherwise, food was excellent.
Great tapas, tasty sangria, nice atmosphere, good service, decent value for money. As the restaurant is always busy, waiters can be a bit eager to take your plates and bring the check. But I would definitely recommend.
