True Spanish food keeping the original flavours and ingredients quality. Prices are a bit on the high side compared with Spain but anyway a great meal.
Tapas are traditional, small plates. But everything is SO incredibly good. Go with the mindset that you’re going to spend but you’re going to enjoy. José Andrés is inspiring and I will definitely be going back to Jaleo soon!
Perfect for pre-theater and very convenient to metro
Jaleo may be my favorite restaurant in DC. It is both jolly and serious, great food and fun food, new things and old favorites (chicken fritters and spinach with pine nuts) and seasonal! Clementines this time!
One can have a lingering meal or a fast treat.
The service is exactly as one wants
thanks for being there.
Affordable when sharing small plates and delicious.
Food was excellent. Service was courteous and prompt. Only complaint is that the place is loud and crowded.
Food was delicious and love the politics of the owner Andres. Supported feeding Puerto Rico people when the president of US seemed to disregard the devastation from hurricane Maria. Want to support this humane business owner and it’s not hard to do because the food is exceptional!
We had a great time! The food was amazing!
Our wait person was extremely informative and charming. This was much more than good food - this was fabulous experience!
just fantastic. Went for Sunday brunch and got the chef's tasting....AWESOME! Can't recommend this place enough. Will not disappoint.
Had friends in from out of town and Jaleo did not disappoint. Wait staff was outstanding as usual - I have never had a bad meal or experience. Love this place - class act all the way!
The first of Jose Andres' restaurant in DC is not to be missed. It remains consistently excellent and should be considered one of your "go to" spots for locals and a "must do" for visitors.
We had a large group, which was perfect for sharing lots of different dishes. Long menu with lots of options. Some of our favorites were the tuna potato salad, the pork tenderloin and the cauliflower with dates. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. Pacing was good after a long wait for our drinks. One down note was we were seated right next to the door and got a cold blast whenever anyone came in and out, not very comfortable.
Overall, a good experience. A bit pricey. Our table was by the front door, so we got blasts of cold air with some regularity and were in a high traffic zone. People waiting for their table tended to be clustered around us, so not very intimate. Our kids loved it more than we. It is exciting, busy, loud, and fun. Loved our wine choices and the food was mostly excellent.
We are from the west coast, always go to Jaleo when in DC. Had not been in several years. It's as good as ever. Good wine selection and food.
It was a great spot for us to meet friends to catch up. Noise level was much better than before, we could hear each other without difficulty. Service was good and the food was delicious. Servings were generous. We ordered 9 tapas for the 4 of us, and we had difficulty finishing everything. Dessert was also very good. Definitely will return when we are in DC again.
Jaleo never disappoints! The tapas are delicious, service is flawless, ambiance is wonderful.
Warm & cozy on a cold evening. Quick friendly service. A huge selection of food & drinks. Food was delicious & was served gradually throughout our dinner (you don’t want all your tapas served at once). Easy to carry on a conversation. Did not disappoint!
Double date post show. A couple of snacks and wine. Good service. So many great options!
We had another excellent experience st jaleo. I’ve been going there for 20 years and always make it when I’m in DC. Great gin and tonic though pricy but the tapas make up for the drink cost. Highly recommended and I always want to support Jose Andres
Jaleo always had a good food. Real taste of Spain. But they redesigned their dining room to reduce the noise level. It made a lot of difference. Very pleasant and civilized dining experience. Great DC downtown option.
Always excellent! Fantastic staff! Food is amazing!
Drove all the way from Columbia MD to eat here (only about 30 or so min. drive) but still. It was so worth it!! Everything was delicious!!! Must try.
Waiter was slow and not super friendly. I would have loved to see more festive decor and a holiday cocktail
As always, Jaleo was great. My friend had not been there in a long time and he said he will be back soon. We had shrimp, spinach, sausage and beans and a couple of other tapas as well as flan. The flan is better than any in DC that I have had.
We thoroughly enjoyed the speci
I couldn't believe we got a 3 course meal for $20 for lunch - all in an hour! The food was delicious and we were already full before dessert arrived but we managed. And, we even got to star watch as Rob Reiner was sitting a table away!
Food was not before.
The tapas specials are always very good. We had the Sunday brunch special and it was outstanding.
Start to finish, a fantastic meal. Everything was amazing. My wife and I got the chef’s tasting and it was insanely good.
Our table was by the door. It was cold everytime the door opened.
The food is outstanding, and the Gin and Tonic selections were like nothing I'd ever tasted. I plan to go back on my next trip to DC, and may even make a day trip just to go here for dinner!
Superb, as always. Arrived early for our reservation on a Saturday night. Waited less than a minute for our table. Our quibble from a previous visit - no olive dish - fixed, and fixes with flair. Olives stuffed with Spanish anchovies. Wow!
This was our 4th time at Jaleo, this time before theater. We didn't do the pre-theater menu even though it is a great value. We wanted to try more dishes and we did. Probably too much! Couldn't finish the patatas bravas!
Next time we go, I'm going to convince my husband that we should order one of the tasting menus, just in case there's something we missed.
You can't go wrong at this restaurant any time of day. I highly recommend it.
usual good experience XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Wonderful food, knowledgeable servers.
Jaleo offers a great range of traditional -- and traditional with a twist -- tapas and large plates. The service was excellent: our waiter was attentive and recommended a wine that was a great match for what we ordered. Portions are larger than at some tapas restaurants, so well-suited to sharing.
After 25 years, better than ever! The food was delicious, enjoyed special cocktails from the sparkling wine festival. If you don’t like loud restaurants I would suggest going in early afternoon
We had to wait almost 30 minutes for our reserved table, which was not a good start.
The food was interesting, tasty, but what we had was fairly standard fare.
The noise level was very high, which made it difficult for conversing at our table.
LOVED this dinner - we did the tasting menu for the second time and it was simply amaazing!
