To be honest, the food was entirely underwhelming, and I won’t be returning.
We went on a Friday night for during a vacation to DC. We asked to sit outside and our service was wonderful. The food was delicious and all the staff was lovely. It did seem noisy inside this why we asked for an outside table but no more than a regular restaurant in DC I would assume. Love Jose Andres and glad to support him!
Awesome as usual. The guy that helped us I can’t recall his name but he was absolutely phenomenal, this is my favorite place to dine.
Ordered from the lunch special menu. What a great deal.
Great place. Great food and atmosphere. Classy casual, definitely make it a stop for two or lots of fun with a group. Service was top notch.
The food, and staff, as always, was excellent. We would prefer that the bottle of wine be left on the table or near to hand. Sooo noisy
Enjoyed the experience. Dined at an outside table - very comfortable and enjoyed the people watching. First visit to DC. Loved the food and even got the recipe for our favorite plate.
It had been a while since I was at Jaleo, so I'd forgotten just how good it is, and how pleasant a place it is. I don't know how you have managed to keep the quality of the food, service, and overall experience so high for so many years! And you can actually have a conversation with friends while enjoying a lively ambience.
Fantastic food but terrible service. Server forgot about us several times.
Food was amazing and our table for a large party was ready upon our arrival. I chose this restaurant based on feedback from friends (and I live in the other Washington).
Jaleo has always been good, but in the last couple of years Jose Andres has made the food there quite high-end without charging outrageous prices. The quality approaches that of his top-of-the-line Bazaar restaurant in Beverly Hills.
Highly recommend. It is not just dinner it is a total experience. More fun with about 8 people. Different and a little adventuresome
Dinner was fabulous. We ate outside so the noise level is to be expected. Very attentive service, excellent menu.
Had a delicious meal on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered the "very, very special" shrimp, which was good, but the Maine scallops were divine, as was the roasted eggplant, red pepper, and onion on thin toast. The chardonnay was equally tasty. We were also delighted by the location of our table--we had requested a quiet area of the restaurant, and our seating was perfect.
Love Jaleo- food and sangria delicious! Service friendly and professional. Atmosphere fun and festive.
best spanish restaurant ive ever been to. each dish was individually flavored
The food was not good at all. We disliked it very much. The worst was the octopus which tasted canned not fresh. The olives with anchovies also tasted canned. The potato tortilla was underdone and not seasoned. We also very disappointed at the lack of paella selections.
The ambiance and service was fine.
While I generally love Jaleo and its food, a recent experience left me disappointed by the service. A companion at brunch asked for a glass of “just plain tomato juice” which arrived as two fingers of juice in a snifter with a celery stick. For this he was charged $12. When we asked about the charge, the server informed us that it was the charge for a “virgin Bloody Mary.” We felt uncomfortable pushing back that this was not what was ordered, but we did, and the charge was taken off (we would have happily paid a glass of juice price), which I appreciate, but it just left us with a bad feeling about an otherwise tasty and enjoyable meal.
It was as good as I remembered it from when I first visited several years ago. I will definitely be back next time I am in town.
We brought newbies to Jaleo and they were just as delighted with the food as we were. But how can Jose call gazpacho traditional when it's made with beets? Fortunately, they had the genuine product also.
Love the variety and flavor combinations on the menu. Each tapas was marvelous and wish I had room for them all!
Excellent food and service. The environment was very nice.
We went for a late dinner after graduation. High energy and great food.
Absolutely amazing restaurant. Food was delicious, service outstanding and the attention to detail was out of this world.
They took my husband’s master graduation celebration so serious that they made our visit a wonderful experience. Of course we’ll come back
Our server was fabulous! Food absolutely delish! And we were able to hear each other talk which is a HUGE plus these days.
Just a superb lunch. Can’t wait to go back!
The table was not designed for people to actually talk to each other. Given that I had a reservation, a better table would have been better
Excellent and consistent food from one of the best chefs in DC. Unfortunately, like so many restaurants in the District, they struggle with their service. A manager finally brought out the desert and our bill. Oddly, no mention of the two hour lunch was referenced.
Delicious food. Definitely would go back
Best lunch spot in Penn Quarter! A friend and I come regularly and split the most delicious grilled cheese sandwich and side of spinach ever! Fills us up and is less than $15 a person, you can't beat that!
Food was good, so was the wine. Dessert and espresso also good. A pleasant, satisfying pre-theater meal.
This is one of my favorite spots to bring visiting friends. It never disappoints and is always delicious. The shrimp, chicken croquettes, ibérico tenderloin with blue cheese mashed potatoes, scallops, and sangria are all must haves.
Great food done perfectly. Was a little loud at first but then very quiet as early diners left. Service was great, very alert and friendly
Always great. Food, service and ambiance were wonderful even on a very busy Mothers's Day.
Food was delicious, service was excellent, ambience was lovely. Value was good, just be careful with drinks, the sangria was a bit pricey. Overall an amazing experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Had the Jaleo Tapas flight and everything was very tasty. Seating was a little tight so not for an intimate dinner. Very family friendly. Went on Mother’s Day and they gave all mom’s a rose. Lovely place. If your like variety and lots of choices this is your place. Also had asparagus but didn’t take picture.
Great food ! Once again we had a delicious meal at Jaleo. The tapas-style restaurant serves a variety of tasty, creative and satisfying plates. Everything was delicious, from the bread with infused olive oil to the vanilla flan for dessert. And the Jose Andres gin and tonic is really special ! Great place to go with a group of people.
Very busy on Mother's Day but they had nice brunch selections. Enjoyed it very much. They gave all the ladies a long stemmed rose. Nice touch.
Amazing tasting experience with wine pairing! Chef Samantha came out to greet us to top off the wonderful evening!
