   Everything we've had on the menu, which is most of it because we have been here a few times, has been outstanding. Everything about this place is outstanding. Even something as simple as the iced tea has been thought about and made with care. I've very particular about iced tea and many places don't even give it a thought. This iced tea tasted like a jasmine black tea. It was so good. I mention this to illustrate the level of attention to detail. The staff are super friendly and will show you the meaning of hospitality. I will be back many more times!

   Service was terrible. We sat outside and waited over 30 mins just to get water. Finally got to order the tasting menu. Food was not worth it. I would go to a different restaurant by Jose the chef.

    Delicious food. We loved the two vegetable dishes - spinach and cauliflower, both made in totally unique ways. The deep fried dates were a miss, though. Busy busy place, so waiter could not be as attentive as he - or we - would have liked.

    A memorable experience .. can't wait to go back. Every staff member, from arrival to paying the check, was professional, thoughtful, responsive and made us feel like very special guests. Our server, Eduardo, was terrific, patient and couldn't have been more gracious. The food is FABULOUS! The decor is beautiful. It's noisy and, at our request, we were given a table that was more private, in a corner, and we weren't disturbed by the noise of diners having a wonderful time. They accommodated every request with grace. GO .. GO .. GO !!!

    Our second visit and the food was just as good as the first time. Stand-out dishes included the pressed ham-and-cheese sandwich, the garlic shrimp, and the grilled chicken thigh. The pan con chocolate was rich and full of chocolate. Good-sized portions means that three tapas per person are plenty. Food service a little off since courses two and three came out within minutes of each other, but otherwise an excellent evening.

    It was the first time for one of the out of town guests to visit Jaleo, but she will be back. I ordered for table several of my favorites and all were hits. I live in the building and have been a regular since. shortly after it opened. There are many consistent favorites as well as new items to try.

    Truly Excellent dinner…. Everything was SO delicious. We were first time diners as we were in from out of town. We will definitely return!!! Our server Bruce was outstanding.

    I have been going to Jaleo for over 20 years. It is still a fun, enjoyable experience and some of the food is really excellent. We sat outside on a beautiful night. Service was just about perfect. The dishes ranged from good to truly excellent. I look forward to going back.

    My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Jaleo! Bruce’s recommended the Jaleo Classico from the tasting menu, which was on point! Absolutely amazing selection. the food was prepared and served perfectly! Highly recommend!

    Jaleo continues to deliver excellent quality and speedy service in a very convenient location. (One of the Shakespeare Theatre's venues is just around the corner.) The restaurant could definitely use a refresh, however: my seat and others at our table were dirty and stained. Overall, the furnishings are starting to look like a heavily used fast food joint.

    Haven't been back to this location for a while but found an opportunity to go for lunch today before visiting the National Gallery. This is a good size restaurant on the corner of 7th and E streets and has outdoor seating on both sides - the E street side is larger and quieter with less traffic. Inside there are quite a few tables along the windows facing both streets. When I made the reservation I was given an option of inside, outside or high tops - turned out the high tops are just counter seats along the bar area, not real hightop tables, but the window side tables are nice - not booth seats but partitioned which makes it quieter. Two of us ordered the express lunch - $24 with 4 choices of tapas including a dessert - just the right amount of food, and one ordered a chicken sandwich which came with soup or salad. Everything was delicious, the smooth gazpacho, the spinach mixed with chopped dried fruit and raisins, the very tender shrimps (comes with some bread very handy for soaking up the sauce) and the super creamy flan. This is a very convenient and excellent lunch place to keep in mind when visiting the galleries.

    We do not understand the hype of this restaurant. The food was not good, the service was awful and the ambiance was weird in a bad way. Of our 4 nights of eating out in DC it was by far our least favorite experience. Do not recommend.

    Arrived at the restaurant and was greeted by a hostess whom I later identified as Lela. Requested a table next to a window and the hostess literally started to make excuses why she could not honor my request even though their were a number of such tables available. Worst costumer service I have ever received. Canceled my reservation and went to another restaurant where the service was 5 star.
