Wonderful, creative food as well as lovely wines to go with it. Fun place with Foosball tables under glass for even more fun
Food was very good. Service was attentive. Felt like we were being rushed along a bit by the server. Tables are way to close together I had to move my chair ever time they delivered food to the table next to us.
Sat by window. Very cold. Other than that another great meal.
Our favorite pre-theatre restaurant! We ask for Julian and he is terrific. Love the menu, which had so many choices and varies by the season. Always delicious!
Excelente opción desde desayunos hasta cena. Es divertido, rico y curioso.
The three special truffle festival dishes I tried were disappointing. I don't know whether it was the quality of the truffles or the dishes with which they were served, but they did not have the strong truffle taste or aroma that I expecting. Somebody new to truffles would have had to wonder what all the fuss is about. Just two days earlier, I had a truffle dish at a different local restaurant, and the truffle flavor and aroma were much, much stronger. Otherwise, the restaurant was terrific, as usual.
Great place for a date, for a small get together, or a special occasion.
The restaurant has a cool vibe and definitely makes you feel like you’re about to have a great experience. Several large tables towards the front are actually fuseball tables underneath.
The food was great. We ordered a few different cheeses, the trio of corquetas, the shrimp ‘pasta’ paella and the garlic white whine mushrooms. We also had the half carafe of sangria which was very good.
The service was fantastic! Our server was attentive, friendly and shared great suggestions. She also helped me when I snagged my sweater on the corner wall by fixing it. She was excellent!
Chef Jose deserves the Nobel. The joint was slammed 6:00PM on a Saturday night. Still, our 2-top by the window was waiting. And the food! Order old favorites, or try new? Both. We left waddling.
I could easily return enough times to eat my way through the menu.
Great food. Perfect pre theatre venue. Pricing was moderate but every dish was excellent. Great vegetarian options.
Tasting menu is the way to go. Maybe the best meal I've had in DC for under $100 after tax & tip.
Croquetas de jamon and sangria 👌🏼
It was nice, took a while to get the check
The agua deSevilla cocktail is incredible as well as the croquettes de jamon.
The food, drinks, service and décor were all superb. The tapas style dining was excellent for our medium-sized group and everyone at our table enjoyed an extremely wonderful dinner.
Overall a great experience with a friendly staff and strong food offerings. My girlfriend and I were celebrating her birthday and it was perfect for the occasion.
Our server knew it was her birthday and brought out a celebratory flan (which was delicious).
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. I highly recommend checking it out as a must see in DC.
Jaleo is one of my favorite restaurants -- been going there frequently since it opened in 1993. Jose Andres -- the founder and owner -- is one of my favorite people in D.C., as well. Not only has he brought us wonderful food at his various restaurants over the decades, but he truly helped federal employees and their families during the recent government shutdown by providing thousands of us with free meals; as he did for the people in Puerto Rico not long ago after the devastating hurricane that slammed them. I used to love frequenting his restaurants simply because the food and service were always wonderful, but now I go to support this wonderful man, as well. This visit was with my adult son. We ordered a number of vegetarian tapas and each was delicious. I'm a sucker for the sautéed spinach with pine nuts, and the manchego cheese/apple salad. We also had the spinach fritters and potatoes bravas. Everything was excellent! I hope Jose and his restaurants are around forever, and that we all support this man who has done so much for those in need.
Slow and spotty service, but good food
Food was out of this world! Perfect place for a romantic date. Our server was very helpful when it came to choosing favorites. The decor is very modern, but unfortunately, our table was right next to the front door and we were constantly bumped by people waiting to be seated. I made a reservation weeks before, but we were still seated almost 30 minutes late.
Would highly recommend Jaleo to anyone who wants to splurge for a nice date. Make a reservation and prepare to be blown away by the food!
I would certainly recommend Jaleo to others looking for tapas. The patatas bravas were delicious (although I have never had a potato I didn't like). The pollo croquettes were also quite yummy, as well as the chorizo and mashed potatoes. We finished off with the cod and potato fritters which were overall yummy but a bit too overwhelming as well as too salty. I am a huge lover of salt so this is saying something! Overall though, good date night. Also, the Clara drink was amazing! New favorite
We had to wait for 30 min for our reservations that we were on time for, but the food was great!
The food we got was incredible, but it was Valentine’s Day so obviously the place was packed and very noisy.
It was fantastic but that wasn't a surprise. The Secreto Iberico was our favorite.
Excellent food, fast kitchen.
very tight space. Not the best for a date night.
We had an excellent Valentine's Day dinner at Jaleo. The food and service were great despite the restaurant being packed. Food came out of the kitchen at a decent rate, portions were generous for tapas, and we didn't feel like we were being rushed. We enjoyed the beet salad, tomato marmalade and goat cheese cones (delish!), rabbit confit with apricot puree, patatas bravas, and more. The only so-so dish was the grilled house-made pork sausage (named after Daniel Patrick Moynihan). My main complaint is that the server recommended some of the most expensive tapas on the menu (which we didn't order). Atmosphere was lively and fairly noisy but we didn't have to shout to be heard.
The food is interesting, exciting and delicious. Jaleo can be counted on to satisfy in a stimulating manner.
A great evening. Good service and authentic Spanish cuisine. It’s impossible not to enjoy.
I indicated special occasion (birthday) and got worse service than normal that night. Had to ask for things 2-3 times. Multiple times. Service took forever. We had to leave for a play and had to ask for check 2 times and then flag someone else down to pay and leave to get to play on time. Instead of a fun birthday special night, it was miserable service. Clicking "birthday" on open table obviously did nothing.
Jaleo is one of our perennial favorites! Food and service always pleases and Jaleo is usually my first choice for a special evening out.
Attentive and knowledgeable waitstaff, excellent food, fun atmosphere
Food was very tasty.
Such great food and fantastic wait staff who completely hooked us up on dinner ideas!
Met an old friend for lunch and wanted to support Chef Andres. The Barcelona sandwich was fantastic, the service was excellent. Pricing is about right for the location. Probably the only nit pick was how many options and various menus there were!
Food was really good and unique. The Gin drinks are to die for. Only knock was that I found the paella a bit on the salty side. Would go again for sure.
Whilst my companions enjoyed their meals (we were on our way to the theatre) my octopus was cold when it arrived and the potatoes were cold and very soggy. All my other criticisms would mean less if the food had been good. I did not complain because it took a long time to arrive and we had limited time before the performance. It was noises, the food took ages to arrive. The staff needed prompts to provide bread, the wine we had ordered etc.
Food was subpar — guess that’s what you get late night dining in DC?!?!
La comida riquísima!
Party of 6 tried a variety of meats and vegetarian options none of them dissapointed!
Would go again.
The food was wonderful! We loved the funky design of the restaurant and the tapas style plates. The service was pretty spotty and not personal, however it did not necessarily take away from the experience.
