I had been meaning to go to Jaleo since I moved to DC. Had family in town for Thanksgiving seemed like a great reason to go. We shared 8 plates of tapas between the four of us and left full. Everything was really good, including the cava sangria we had to wash it all down.

The food is very mediocre. Although the waiting staff was very friendly and attentive, the reception desk was in a chaos and we had to wait near the door for over 20 minutes past our reservation time when everyone of our party had already arrived. But I can look pass all that is the food is good, but it's just meh.

The patatas bravas are not peeled and the sauce is not served with aioli - quite odd as I've never had this type of patatas bravas in Spain. Perhaps it was americanized? Overall, it was quite good. Good atmosphere, decent service, and very convenient to the Capital one Arena.

Lovely place for pre-theatre bite - we recently had a quick visit to Jaleo before the theatre. We arrived about 20 minutes early and were seated in the 'window seat' that is visible from the street. It's much quieter than then rest of the restaurant and we loved it, plus the people-watching is a plus. Our server was terrific and was careful to pace the meal and yet go fast enough so that we had plenty of time to eat and then get to our show. He helped us select an interesting and delicious group of small plates - all very different and all I would order again.
I have been to Jaleo before and found it noisy and sometimes slow service - this was wonderfully different and a delightful visit. Can't wait to go back!

One of my favorite spots before a concert. Took my stepdaughter before Last Gaga concert. We had a great time, shared a bunch of plates and ended with the chocolate flan which was fabulous. Great atmosphere and always busy. Make reservations!

It was my wife's birthday. We have eaten at Jaleo before but each time we try something different and we are never disappointed. The brunch we had lastSunday with several tapas (they kept coming and coming) was one of the best.

My daughter and I dined at Jaleo DC on Saturday night. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life . First of all, we were an hour late for our reservation. I called to explain to the hostess that I had just had hip replacement surgery and had very much wanted to make my first venture out to my favorite restaurant. She graciously held our table. I’m walking with a cane but not very well and I decided I could walk the 3 blocks to the restaurant from the metro rail. I made a mistake and went the wrong way! Now 6 blocks in the opposite direction and completely immobile, we called Uber and finally made it to your front door. My most heart felt gratitude to the hostess for holding our table which was perfect. It was out of the way of foot traffic like I had requested. Sergio made our 2 hour dining experience special, like he knew what we had gone through but I never told him. The sangria is the best in the land. As is the gin and tonic oysters, potatoes bravos, Gambas al ajillo and the wonderful scallops with the butternut squash. What a truly magnificent dinner!! We will definitely return soon, when I’m feeling stronger. Until then, I’m bowing to all the staff at Jaleo DC. You guys rock!!

Went to Jaleo after seeing a show at the National Theater. We had five small plates, and all were truly excellent. Chorizo and creamy mashed potatoes, spinach with nuts and raisins, braised of tail. I cannot wait to go again.

Enjoyed the food, but tables are much too close, making conversation and the logistics of getting into and out of seats difficult. While we enjoyed the food, we are likely to try another restaurant ext time.

As always, Jaleo exceeds expectations. The food is interesting and everyone can find something they like. It's also nice that food arrives quickly after ordering. Highly recommend.
P.S. Make a reservation on Open Table. This restaurant fills up quickly.

I had the Rusa salad, the monkfish and the garlic shrimp tapas.
The Rusa seemed to have sat around in the fridge for a long time. All the tapas were a bit salty. Bit of a letdown

We tried the Pre-Theater meal ($30). It was delicious and looked so pretty when it was served. My choices were: gazpacho, garlic shrimp; spinach lightly sautéed with garlic, pine nuts, and raisins, and crepe brûlée. I must admit this would have left us hungry, except for their delicious bread. Their red sangria is always delicious! I doubt there is anything served that is not wonderful.

Usually the service is much better. I think our 9:30PM reservation on 11/11/2017, Veterans Day Weekend, only available at time of call at around 6:45PM placed us at a disadvantage. It was too crowded by that time and naturally the demand might have been too much for the kitchen which resulted in slow service. In addition the food was not to the expectation/quality that we have previously enjoyed. I will try not to have such a late reservation in the future.

Delicious tapas. I especially loved the fried eggplant. We dined with our young toddler, which can be challenging. However, the staff was incredibly kind, courteous, and attentive throughout our meal. All of us enjoyed our meals- the portions are larger than expected for tapas. We actually ended up with some left overs!

My husband and i knew the noise level would be high but found the food very much worth ignoring that issue.
We were not seated until 15 min after our reservation time, but it was a very busy Saturday night. Our waiter was very helpful in answering our questions about portion size and as we were quite hungry, suggested ordering a couple of dishes that could be prepared relatively quickly, e.g. flautas with iberico ham (2 per order) and the pea salad which could readily be shared and was a perfect complement to the ham flautas. I then ordered the scallops in romescu sauce and my husband ordered the housemate pork sausage with beans. These were all excellent and left us just enough room for dessert, flan and clementine ice cream with caramel garnish. Just enough food and reasonably priced considering the high quality.

Mediocre food, mediocre service. We ordered an 8 course tasting menu. After the first 8 came out, we inexplicably received another 4 - one of which was an item we'd already gotten. Some of the food was great, some less so.
