Even though we had a reservation, there was a bit of a wait. There was not a lot of space to wait . We were directed to the bar area, but it was pretty packed already. Food was very good. Front desk and wait staff was adequate but nothing spectacular.
Even thongh I made a reservation, I had to wait for 30 minutes to get seated, and worse, this was the second time. Too bad.
The food was excellent. The service was great and the overall atmosphere was very nice. The perfect end to the dinner was an perfect tasting espresso!
Everyone should eat Chef Andres food. #1 it is absolutely amazing! #2 to support the work he does for global food insecurity. Jaleo is a destination restaurant. If you come to DC and don't visit Jaleo, you trip is not complete. I go to DC once a year for a business trip and always schedule one dinner at Jaleo as well as other DC hot spots (Michelin starred restaurants & James Beard Nominees). I can tell you, every single time Jaleo comes out as everyone's favorite restaurant . Chef Andres keep up all facets of your amazing work!! Thank you!!
Even though it was a really busy evening at Jaleo the staff made every effort to accomodate special needs within our group of six. When they couldn't reseat us within our pre-ballet time-frame they sent over two lovely starters. The food is always terrific with lots of choices for vegetarians and vegans as well . Great food and attentive service!
Had a wonderful lunch while visiting DC museums in the area. Barcelona Club and potato soup were excellent
We had the tasting menu with paired drinks. Fantastic 3 hour dining experience with fabulous service. Food was thoughtful and varied and drink pairings were spot on.
Great service and food!
Muy bueno y céntrico excelente
Great food, beverages and service!
Th food and service is usually good, by this was an off night.
On a recent trip to DC, my husband and I dined at Jaleo on the recommendation of a friend who used to live in DC. Jaleo did not disappoint ! We started with the Cava sangria which was prepared in a fishbowl. We thought there was no way we would finish it, but lo and behold, we managed to polish off the whole thing by the end of the meal. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and professional. We ended the meal with their fantastic flan - so good !
Went here for a date night with my husband. The food was fabulous, the service was great, and the drinks were impeccable. Try the brussel sprouts. They are to die for.
It was everything that it was reported to be - excellent in all aspects.
Our table of four ordered about a dozen small plates to share, most of them vegetarian, and each was as tasty and distinctive as the next. Plan a week or two ahead to make a group reservation at Jaleo (don't try to show up on a weekend evening expecting to be seated in an hour or even two hours).
WE have been eating lunches and dinners at Jaleo DC since it first opened. It is amazing for a consistently comfortable experience with consistently high-quality, interesting, excellent food.
I had a friend in town and decided to go to Jaleo not just because of the delicious food, but also because of Chef José Andrés' work in Puerto Rico. His generous spirit and his commitment to serving others is amazing. Patronizing his restaurant is a small thank you.
As usual, Jaleo's service was top notch. (Ask for the guy who looks like a young Antonio Banderas!) The drinks were delicious and the tapas were incredible. The quail eggs and the sautéed spinach were fantastic. So were the mussels.
Little noisy inside the restaurant. The Maine Scallop was a bit too salty and salt was the only obvious taste. The service was very very good, good waiter.
Simply great. This is my third time here and it was perfect.
The food is great. Lots of tapas to chose from! and the service is always on point to.
We enjoyed Jaleo so much! It was my daughter's 21st birthday. We live in two different cities and happen to be in DC at the same time. I found this restaurant online. She had her first "legal" drink at the bar with me. So very memorable!!
Fun place! Great food and drinks! The menu is very diverse!
Great service and pre-theater menu was varied and delicious. Recommend for all pre-theater events in the area.
This restaurant is wonderful for an off-hour meal. My friends and I love it especially after an early matinee at the Shakespeare Theater. We generally arrive at 3pm, when the restaurant is quiet, yet still offering the "rapido" menu. Both food and service are fabulous.
Wait staff was slow and rude. Sangria carafe that was ordered prior to food order did not arrive until well after food was finished without apology or other accommodation.
we ate at a different Andres restaurant each of the four nights we were in town.
at JALEO waitress said chef's experience could only be ordered for whole table.
does not say that on menu. I did insist and the chef did comply. I suggest either put it on menu or
don't say to guests that they can't do it.
We had very poor service from our waiter. The hostess took our food order. Her recommendations were uninspired and blah. The seafood paella we ordered came with one shrimp per person. It was tasteless, skimpy and awful for $55.00. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria which tasted like water. They did try to fix it and it was still bad. We should have sent it back. It was $58.00! It was just a really bad experience. Even the chairs were uncomfortable at our table and there was no place to hang your coat. We had to sit on them. Never again!
Resturant is quiet crammed. The two of us were squeezed between two larger groups Not much space to wiggle around. Tables were small could not even fit the entrees. Definitely not a romantic setting. The food was ok. Loved the garlic Shrimp
Jaleo never disappoints. The food is always delicious and the service is fine. My group had a reservation one and a half hours before a play at the Shakespeare Theatre. The metro was single tracking and it took us an hour to arrive from Bethesda. We explained why we were 30 minutes late and how we were concerned about making the play on time and the waiter was very good about promptly filling our orders. The Jaleo in Bethesda is good too! The Washington DC vibe is a bit better.
My favorite restaurant in DC. Go there every time we visit. Grateful to Jose for his wonderful work in Puerto Rico. Now one of my favorite charities too.
Attentive and friendly service. Chicken and mushroom paella was delicious. Found out you need to order the seafood paella ahead of time, which we plan to do for our next visit.
Have heard wonderful things about Jaleo's food from friends and was pleased to see a location in DC where I was visiting this weekend. Now I know why they have been raving about the food.
Food was delicious & we had a great overall experience.
The food was outstanding!! I felt like I was back in Spain all over again. My fiance and I had a great time. We will be back :-)
The rabbit confit was amazing, had to order seconds. The seafood was impeccable, and the vegetable dishes were much more than just after thoughts. The bar was a bit slow, but thus we didn't waste as much money on drinks, and could save it for the food. Try the specials. We lucked out and got one of the fuzbol tables, which was awesome for my 7 year old, because you actually can play between courses.
Chicken croquettes were excellent Jose Andres should open a small Deli and sell them
Best place love everything
Second time there...service was great, food was outstanding. The mini-hamburgers were worth the entire trip...
The food was delicious, as expected from previous visits, and the service was attentive and well timed. We enjoyed and polished off every item we ordered, and got to the theater on time.
First off, service was great. I accidentally made a reservation for the wrong day and the host was able to squeeze us in, albeit at a communal table. The wait staff was also great. We went with the classic tapas, including gambas al ajillo y patatas bravas, among others, and enjoyed them all. The paella took time, but was also good. Would come back!
