Food was great: Fresh ingredients and delicious.
However, the service was lacking. We asked for a straw but never received one for our drinks. The wait staff never refilled our water. Service was a bit slow. What happened to lunch in an hour? We were there for about an hour and a half.
The food and drinks were great. Suggest the sangria. Both the red and white are epic. We had 17 dishes and all eye good. Jose is the best chef in the world.
A great experience. The services was great and the food amazing. The paella Valencia’s was delicious. It is the best paella that I ever taste, even when I flew to Valencia the experience of this food was bad in other local Valencia rest., but this was amaze!!! Everything was great and espectacular.
Emilie was awesome.... she helped us through the menu by leading on a path that was awesome! And kudos to Inigo for the wine recommendation.... Canary Island wine.... was totally not on the radar. It made a memorable night even more note worthy! Thank you to all.... can’t wait to go back!
My husband and I had dinner here before going to a concert at Capital One Arena. We were also celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary! The food was delicious and we both had their awesome cava sangria. So good. Service was awesome and since I indicated it was our anniversary on open table, our server brought us free dessert. We were very pleased with the whole experience. Also, we are proud to support a restaurant owned by Jose Andres. The kicker? We left our credit card behind and received a text message about 15 mins after leaving the restaurant letting us know. If they had not done that, we probably wouldn't have realized until the next day and getting back to the city would have been difficult. Highly recommend Jaleo! We will be back.
So many delicious sounding choices it was difficult to narrow down. Our server was very attentive without being in our face. Highly recommend the potato wrapped chorizo and the fried Brussels sprouts although all of the food we had was good so it was hard to go wrong.
I have seen complaints about waiting for a table even with a reservation, but our table for 10 was ready and waiting for us when we arrived. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was excellent.
Exceptional food, but quite pricey. This was my third time here. Lunch for three cost over $200 (including 1 wine each, and the tip), but all 9 tapas dishes that we shared were absolutely luscious! Great place for a special occasion or to impress an important client. Staff is extremely courteous and VERY knowledgeable of all ingredients, preparations, wines and cocktails. You will love the experience, but the bill may be a bit hard to swallow.
Amazing food best paella! Ambiance great! Service fantastic.
Even though we had a reservation, there was a bit of a wait. There was not a lot of space to wait . We were directed to the bar area, but it was pretty packed already. Food was very good. Front desk and wait staff was adequate but nothing spectacular.
I've dined here before and this time the restaurant was disappointing. It just did not live up to prior experience. The service was very rushed and mistakes were made. A dish that was ordered was not brought to the table. A dish that we did not order was. Our cheese selections were not as ordered. The paella was tasty but lacked the crust on the rice on the bottom that makes paella so special. A dish that we asked to be brought to the table later in the meal was brought out immediately. It was not the experience we had anticipated and I will be hesitant to return soon.
The prior evening we had dined at another Jose Andres restaurant, Zaytinya, and had a very different experience with better service, all food selections brought as ordered and every dish ordered excellent. It was a far more pleasant experience.
Consistently excellent food and service! Luis gave great drink recommendations.
Even thongh I made a reservation, I had to wait for 30 minutes to get seated, and worse, this was the second time. Too bad.
The food was excellent. The service was great and the overall atmosphere was very nice. The perfect end to the dinner was an perfect tasting espresso!
Everyone should eat Chef Andres food. #1 it is absolutely amazing! #2 to support the work he does for global food insecurity. Jaleo is a destination restaurant. If you come to DC and don't visit Jaleo, you trip is not complete. I go to DC once a year for a business trip and always schedule one dinner at Jaleo as well as other DC hot spots (Michelin starred restaurants & James Beard Nominees). I can tell you, every single time Jaleo comes out as everyone's favorite restaurant . Chef Andres keep up all facets of your amazing work!! Thank you!!
Even though it was a really busy evening at Jaleo the staff made every effort to accomodate special needs within our group of six. When they couldn't reseat us within our pre-ballet time-frame they sent over two lovely starters. The food is always terrific with lots of choices for vegetarians and vegans as well . Great food and attentive service!
Great and enjoyable experience with authentic options.
Had a wonderful lunch while visiting DC museums in the area. Barcelona Club and potato soup were excellent
We had the tasting menu with paired drinks. Fantastic 3 hour dining experience with fabulous service. Food was thoughtful and varied and drink pairings were spot on.
Great service and food!
Muy bueno y céntrico excelente
Great food, beverages and service!
Th food and service is usually good, by this was an off night.
Awesome! Would recommend for a nice date night
On a recent trip to DC, my husband and I dined at Jaleo on the recommendation of a friend who used to live in DC. Jaleo did not disappoint ! We started with the Cava sangria which was prepared in a fishbowl. We thought there was no way we would finish it, but lo and behold, we managed to polish off the whole thing by the end of the meal. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and professional. We ended the meal with their fantastic flan - so good !
Went here for a date night with my husband. The food was fabulous, the service was great, and the drinks were impeccable. Try the brussel sprouts. They are to die for.
It was everything that it was reported to be - excellent in all aspects.
Our table of four ordered about a dozen small plates to share, most of them vegetarian, and each was as tasty and distinctive as the next. Plan a week or two ahead to make a group reservation at Jaleo (don't try to show up on a weekend evening expecting to be seated in an hour or even two hours).
WE have been eating lunches and dinners at Jaleo DC since it first opened. It is amazing for a consistently comfortable experience with consistently high-quality, interesting, excellent food.
I had a friend in town and decided to go to Jaleo not just because of the delicious food, but also because of Chef José Andrés' work in Puerto Rico. His generous spirit and his commitment to serving others is amazing. Patronizing his restaurant is a small thank you.
As usual, Jaleo's service was top notch. (Ask for the guy who looks like a young Antonio Banderas!) The drinks were delicious and the tapas were incredible. The quail eggs and the sautéed spinach were fantastic. So were the mussels.
Little noisy inside the restaurant. The Maine Scallop was a bit too salty and salt was the only obvious taste. The service was very very good, good waiter.
Simply great. This is my third time here and it was perfect.
The food is great. Lots of tapas to chose from! and the service is always on point to.
We enjoyed Jaleo so much! It was my daughter's 21st birthday. We live in two different cities and happen to be in DC at the same time. I found this restaurant online. She had her first "legal" drink at the bar with me. So very memorable!!
Fun place! Great food and drinks! The menu is very diverse!
Great service and pre-theater menu was varied and delicious. Recommend for all pre-theater events in the area.
This restaurant is wonderful for an off-hour meal. My friends and I love it especially after an early matinee at the Shakespeare Theater. We generally arrive at 3pm, when the restaurant is quiet, yet still offering the "rapido" menu. Both food and service are fabulous.
Wait staff was slow and rude. Sangria carafe that was ordered prior to food order did not arrive until well after food was finished without apology or other accommodation.
we ate at a different Andres restaurant each of the four nights we were in town.
at JALEO waitress said chef's experience could only be ordered for whole table.
does not say that on menu. I did insist and the chef did comply. I suggest either put it on menu or
don't say to guests that they can't do it.
We had very poor service from our waiter. The hostess took our food order. Her recommendations were uninspired and blah. The seafood paella we ordered came with one shrimp per person. It was tasteless, skimpy and awful for $55.00. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria which tasted like water. They did try to fix it and it was still bad. We should have sent it back. It was $58.00! It was just a really bad experience. Even the chairs were uncomfortable at our table and there was no place to hang your coat. We had to sit on them. Never again!
